@@westofley They're not a public company; means they can spend time on games til they're actually good and listen to fan feedback. Public companies are great for mass-producing products and making money a la EA/Sony/Microsoft. Problem is they end up reaching such a large market that they have to churn out games to stay in the green, which requires both dev crunch and ignoring fans. It usually ends up in a couple hits and a ton of flops. Compare that to a company like Supergiant, privately-owned and not beholden to shareholders. They can take their time with games, put out a hit every few years, and still stay comfortable. They don't need to make year-on-year profit, so they're fine to budget operating at a small loss for 2-3 years while they make a new game. Then they release it early access, make enough money to do some polish, and when full release hits they make enough to start dev on the next thing. It's a tidy little cycle that public companies can't compete with.
i learned from this video that i have to watch him playing this minimized, if im paying attention to whats going on im gonna get annoyed at NL skipping the dialogue and ignoring exclamation marks over people's heads. With it minimized or 2nd monitor content i can just enjoy the banter.
The classic next big game where NL plays 70% of the EA version and then never finishes 1.0 Puts it in B tier on a list and calls it a day. This dudes actual game knowledge of the past 10 years is Isaac, Slay the Spire, Balatro, SAP, Monster Train, FS games, Lies of P, Swery masterpieces and Midnight Sons
The real question is Diogenes Son or Diogenes Daughter? (if you don't know Diogenes he's the one who when told a man was a featherless biped plucked a chicken and said, "Behold a man!"
Dude my stupid monkey brain makes me less upset that NL disclaimed he would skip dialogue at the beginning even though I already knew he would. L takes on gaming, though.
To anyone who's played: is there any big reason to buy this if i liked the first hades but have no real hankering for a second one? It looks like a lot of the same, and if so, i'll probably just wait for a sale.
Depends on how much you liked the first one. Hades 2 is more of the same pretty much, but it offers you a bit different playstyles. There are some changes to the main gameplay mechanics, like Dash and the addition of Sprint, that make it feel familiar but different enough. It also already has about twice as much content as Hades 1. I’d say it’s well worth it. I’m not even ashamed to say that the game hasn’t been out for a week and I already have almost 60 hours clocked in. Between work (and sometimes AT work) I haven’t been able to put the game down. Even when I go to bed I just play Hades 2 on Steam Deck (which runs it perfectly by the way) until I realize I have to go back to work in a couple of hours and I need to get at least some sleep. God I need some sleep….
Unless you have an urge to play something right away, there's never a legitimate reason to buy it immediately rather than waiting for a sale. Do note that it's going to be in EA for like a year or something, I'm going to assume it's unlikely to hit sales until 1.0.
I really enjoyed this game, went for a final boss kill, got that and quit so I can wait for the full release. From all the things that makes this game feel incomplete, it's the art that hurts the most. Charon going back to his shitty cloak he had in the early access of the first game is just an injustice againt my man. So yeah, I'll wait a bit longer before I return and binge this game.
yeaaa same here. got my one full-clear and i think thats all i wanna do. it would be kind of a waste to wring this game dry when its still EA, i wanna be hyped to come back to it when its released
