Back in the early 80's I went to bed every night, listening to Adam Ant, on my Walkman.. I spend my days in Jr High, filling notebooks by writing " I LOVE ADAM ANT"..over and over and over.. Kissed his album covers millions of times.. He is still SO Gorgeous..I LOVE YOU ADAM ANT..still do
ah can still remember to this day being in a youth club when the album Kings of the Wild Frontier was played and the whole place just stopped..and everybody went WOW....what is that...the man was a genius then and still is...big regret not meeting him when i had the chance...
i totally understand thankfully having delt with my own bipolar disorder for years unmediated. I never knew he delt with it as well. makes me like him all that much more:)
videos i will always remember, but the main reason i like adamant,is his music is original and interesting.YOU RULE ADAMANT,THANKS FOR ALL THE WORKS YOU SHARED!!
Guy's a genius and I spent ALL my pocket money on his records, 81-85 before I got into punk. Even when Frankie and Duran Duran were the thing, it was Adam Ant Adam Ant Adam Ant for me till I was nearly 18. Never died either.
I sensed something was up in '86, as Vive le Rock, though a brilliant album, had taken 2 years to come out. I knew he'd been doing stage work so i wasn't surprised to see him disappear. I was obsessed with his white stripe look and always wanted that hard tribal sound back.Jhone D
Great interview love when Adam cares all no make-up or hats. Just being himself is enough as he's so interesting to listen to and totally handsome at any of his ages. Still puts on a great gig too same him twice last yr.
Adam Ant is an innovator, mad genius, the creator of Johnny Depp's fashion sense , I am an ANTPERSON & will ALWAYS follow ANTMUSIC!!!! God Bless his return from the rabbithole
ISTR he did drop hints about being manic depressive, as we called it back in the day, and the meds fucking up his creativity. It's the reason for his 'don't smoke, don't drink' lifestyle. He was talking about healthy living before it was trendy.
Whatever happened to that notebook of his brainstorming sketches!? There's something I'd love to see published. It'll surface at Sotheby's some day and disappear into some elite private library.
Massive back then but rarely heard of now, prob because it seems a bit weird now but back then i remember kings of the wild frontier [album] being number one in the charts for about a year, incredible, but now you hear duran duran records still and other bands best tracks on the radio but never adam and the ants?? shame
If he wasn't still that famous then it wouldn't have made the headlines when he lobbed the exhaust pipe thru the pub window, this is when the bipolar and depression came 2 light with some people saying this is what they had when they didn't and they didn't even know what it was but they said they must have it cos they felt down??? They didn't even know what this disease was or what it felt like........
11:50 quite an effect to see him drink a sip of milk, and then drop the plastic bottle, thoughfully. Geronimo, the Apache Chiricaua chief, inspiration for the white horizontal band in face.
i heard somewhere he had bipolar for last 10ys but he hasnt bless him hes had it since 21 bless him bipolar an be frightening :( hes done well to control it :)
