All the painters are like”Ohh boo hoo, you didn’t achieve fame till after you died”! Nick is great. Still like the VW commercial that reignited his posthumous career.

Give a listen to Walt Mink’s version of Pink Moon. It’s a good cover, and I highly recommend it.

This review is amazing. It opened me up to the true meaning, at least as I interpret, behind Nick's most profound work. I think he knew that this place is dark and full of corruption...perhaps to the point that maybe Parasite was actually about the system and not himself. Loving music but knowing that the music industry is just a part of the wickedness of this realm, he chose the path to living honorably rather than becoming a star, which would have made him compromise who he was. He was in love, but felt his potential mate had beliefs that, due to conflicting with his own worldview, would have made it impossible for her to believe in him. He feels nothing but mockery for any life path that would make him successful at what he loves to do most, and he anticipates a bad event of some sort as inevitable. He is ready to take part in the cycle that will take him to the morning; the next phase in his soul's journey. So he kisses the flowers that he feels are his familiars and he goes to sleep. He ends the song with hope. This album had such an effect on me...only this review was able to help me decode the meaning. I now realize that almost every album I have made follows almost the same model as "Pink Moon." Great work. Great, thoughtful piece.

Nick Drake might be one of the single most influential people in my life over the past couple years. It could be due to a morbid fascination with those who were ahead of their time and also met their demise way too soon without being able to give more of what they had to offer like the Jim Morrisons, or Ian Curtis’ or Amy Winehouses of our musical world. Nick Drake is different for me though. Songs like Fruit Tree which feels like a self fulfilling prophecy makes it slightly harrowing that these ideas were there for a long time. Despite the darkness, despair and depressive state of the music there’s something hypnotic and magnetic about it. Something bigger that keeps calling me back to it. I really just wish there was more of his music to discover. He may not have had the stage presence in his era, he may not have been the most confident of social specimens but man did he have the talent to be something and time told everyone that except he himself. Yet he himself was who needed to know that the most.

There is something different about everything he wrote, and I don't think I really talked about that in this video, because to be honest I don't really know how to explain it. There's a beautifull uneasiness that overflows throughout his music that like you said hypnotizes me. Maybe one day I'll be able to describe it.

I think he may have been on the Autism Spectrum at a time when little was known of many mental health concerns. Possibly. He certainly was depressive.

just listened to this album again last night because of the actual pink moon that happened. it's so overwhelmingly creative, with some of the best guitar playing i've ever heard. maybe it's because i haven't listened to too much folk, but it just feels different to me. like he came from another planet. and it's so sad because i wonder if i or millions of others would even have even heard his stuff if he didn't tragically die young. reminds me of edgar allan poe in a way
