Anantha samsara samudra taaaram is guruvashtakam and ChandraShekarashtakam, which is amazing by markandeya mahamuni. If it was not wonderful and relaxing then you would have chosen some other sthothrams . In future you may also encounter some other beautiful and pleasant sthothrams and you will choose that sthothram which would be more relaxing and pleasant. You must understand that all the pleasantness and the feeling of relaxation is coming from you and the sthothra was a means for you to feel you relaxed and wonderful. You are pleasant and wonderful already. That is the reason you choosed to listen these sthothras.

One Evening on through the Night I listened to a group of frogs within a particular field to the N/E. Working through the patterns of the sound nothing made any since so switching to the spaces in-between, a vision . . . red death . . . thinking - ya since when . . ? The next Day the largest flood came and took out the entire length of fence with the bridge, leaving a 6 foot deep gash across the Way.

There is great value in learning a musical instrument. Few things can bring such attention to hearing. Few things incorporate the whole human in one activity in such a focussed way. It is a path to offer as much or as little dedication to as you like with genuinely infinite possibilities. It demands focus to be in the present. It is a means of divine connection. It offers a voice for the spirit. It’s a shame that most instrumental learning is motivated by parental ambition in these times. Ambition does get in the way of integrity.
"if you just listen..." well I just noticed recently that people around me are talking too much and they never listen to me or anyone else, they just want to talk. what a sad story.
What he says about instrumental music is true. But unfortunately today's people especially youth are under three impression that song means the lyrical aspect is a must. I see very few who genuinely enjoy instrumental music. Plus one problem in India is most songs are based on romance and love and feel a song must have that aspect of romance.
Want to see the difference between how different ragas evoke different moods, listen to Raag Bilaskhani todi after that raag Nand. You will distinctly know the difference.
