Given the shopkeeper's insistence that he is still able to sell snakes, to the point of harassing a guy into getting one, I think something about his weird curse means that if he doesn't sell them, he becomes them.

A more simple episode, but still very interesting! 1. I appreciate how Alice is genuinely trying to keep a brave face while her friends date. She really _does_ want them to be happy, but she can’t help feeling a bit hurt, since she still has feelings for Sam (and maybe for Celia too? 👀), but she doesn’t want her feelings to discourage them if they really like each other. I’ve been in similar situations before, and it’s not fun. (Give us a throuple, Jonny. Give us a throuple, Alex. No love triangles. Give. Us. A. Throuple. 😘) 2. Lena seemed… antsy. What did Gwen do? …Or what did she _not_ do? Lena did say that her new Externals assignment was rather urgent, before, but what if Gwen is hesitating too long, because she doesn’t want to be responsible for another death? Maybe she’ll see what happens when an External isn’t given a proper target, and instead goes on a rampage or something. That could be rough, but very informative. 3. GREAT STATEMENT!!!! That sudden switch from the regular report to a genuine, personal statement was _chilling!_ Fantastic work! I always wondered which category snakes would fall under, Corruption or Hunt, and while I’m sure an argument could be made for either, depending on the context, or a combination of both, this one seems pretty solidly Corruption. The dude was like a flesh hive, but with snakes rather than bugs! Amazing! 😃 4. The shop owner had rejection letters from an institute? Interesting… what was he rejected for, I wonder…? Was this rejection before or after he became a bunch of snakes in a man suit? The statement is from 1995, so a few years before the Magnus Institute burned down. I still have some speculation to do, before I have a solid theory… 🤔

ALICE'S JEALOUSY NOT BEING ABOUT SAM AND ACTUALLY BEING ABOUT CELIA HIT ME LIKE A TRUCK

Interesting episode, not too much to be done in the way of theorising but here I go. Alice is obviously in denial about still having feelings for Sam but is using her humour to cope. Gwen is probably either struggling to get sleep or doing her own private investigation into the OIAR without Lena's prying eyes watching her. Lena herself is probably annoyed that Gwen has been late to work so much. Sam is just fed up with nobody giving him answers (ah he's going to be such a good avatar of The Eye). As for the case itself, seems to be Corruption this time: emphasises the threat of disease, filth and pests and describes the sound and movement of the snakes across the floor and in the walls. The only thing that sticks out is the obvious nod to the Magnus Institute, and that the shop owner Anthony Walker was rejected by them. I checked the list of children from the enrichment program that Sam and Gerard were a part of, but there isn't an Anthony Walker there. However, there is an Aaron Walker and a Ruby Walker, could be unrelated but could also be siblings/deadnames. Aaron scored low across the board with the exception of the Milgram and Asch sections, which seem to be testing whether a subject prioritises obedience over their own empathy. Ruby had pretty average scores but low scores in the Milgram and Asch sections. We don't yet know what a low and high score means for these sections, but Gerard also had low scores and if he's anything like his other world counterpart he's probably a bit of a rebel. So it could be that a low Milgram and Asch score means the subject favours empathy over obedience. Its possible that Anthony knew he was becoming an avatar and went to the Institute for help, but was rejected and thus spiralled into the situation we see in this case. Lol, I know I said there wasn't much theorising to be done but still wrote this much!

"Note: Follow up postponed until location of attending technician determined." the ominous music kicking in just as this line is being read, and also considering what this podcast is like, I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be no follow up report: mosquitos may be present me: *flash-backs to "Blood Bag"* - omfg, the audible air-quotes and eye-roll on "business worries" lmfao "Received slight scratch by accident" aw fuck, they're gonna die, aren't they. Even there even ARE groups again like the big fourteen, instead of just hundreds of specific monsters being kept from forming defined groups by their categorizing. Just... anything that shows up in a group, and it's only an issue bc there's way too many of it, like bacteria, hords of people, animals, or objects even, like when they overfilled that shop with workers who kept bringing in more people and more things "You wouldn't understand." it's not a PHASE, MOM! Finally caught up on the episodes I missed and OMG. Literally could not stop laughing crazedly at the statement - absolutely traumatising ending. I think its my favourite yet.

i miss early tma where i didnt have to read the transcript to know what's going on. its truly lovely that we have so many voice actors creating an immersive atmosphere but sometimes it gets tiring, when i was planning to be drawing or knitting while listening like with an audiobook but instead im glued to the transcript lol no offense

All of the people who "suddenly quit" DIED That's why they say you can put in resignation. But Teddy can't get a new job. That's why Lena always hires two for one quit.

I have a problem with Alice’s “confession” to Celia. It actually makes me kinda dislike Alice in a way that goes beyond “she’s needlessly mean sometimes”. Alice and Celia have had like 0 screen time together, and so it just feels so weird that Alice apparently has such strong feelings for Celia that she just can’t help but say something despite the fact her best friend is currently going out with this person, it just does not feel believable to me to the point where I actually want to believe that Celia is an avatar of some kind and her power is to make people want to have sex with her. Who knows maybe that’s true, but if it isn’t then this scene just makes me feel gross, makes Alice seem kinda pathetic, and it really doesn’t help that I personally HATE love triangles. Idk obviously this is largely personal preference but it definitely isn’t my favorite part of this otherwise great series so far.

Am I the only one struggling with the audio mixing? I appreciate the atmospheric background noises and the realism they add, but I genuinely cannot hear half of what the actors are saying and frequently need to rewind or turn up the volume and concentrate like my life depends on it. TMA was much easier to listen to, with TMP I need to relisten so much to understand what's going on, it's actually affecting my listening experience negatively
