A portion of Montreal's Main, St-Laurent Boulevard, has been neglected and left to be destroyed by a developer. The lower Main between René-Lévesque Blvd. and St-Catherine St. is slated for demolition, to be replaced by an office and retail tower. This is a primer on the history of Montreal's infamous red light district with local historian/writer Louis Rastelli and actor/activist Donovan King .

That’s the neighborhood I would hangout in when I would go to Montreal. I was at bar Midway before it closed. It’s so sad, I went there to hangout with real Montrealers. Sad to see they are dumping the culture.

I remember my dad taking me to the market where they sold live chickens many years ago; there was a tattoo parlor opposite China town before it was a hipster thing, flop houses toward Craig Street, Midway theater and Crystal Palace theater, the Montreal Pool Hall where my dad took me for steamers, fries and seven-up, we're talking over 50 years ago, long time.
