As a Lakers fan, it’s gotta be the ability to get defensive rebounds. It seems like every game we lose in the second chance pts category. With AD you didn’t really expect that to happen, but I think getting Vando back will help out with that a lot. Reaves has been inconsistent but has showed flashes. he’s not the main problem
As a jazz fan, our problem is definitely our guard play. And that’s been a lot better since keyonte is starting now, and Kessler has been out since then which explains how bad the +/- is
the defense will always be crap no matter what though. i think this year is like the aftershock tank year. They were preeety bad after giving Conley away......people blamed it on "sitting guys".....eh no its cause all the other guards are/were tank commanders in waiting.....now we get a whole year of it and its gonna suuuuuck. Cause aint no one gon😢na give you a better, more polished ghard for two flawed ones. Package THT and Sexton together, 29 Million Bucks, throw ina 1st for a sweetener and.....what would that get you? Portland doesnt need more guards for Brogdon. Jalen Brunson aont going anywhere. Neither is Ja. Lavine doesnt fit hes not a point guard. No one who has a half decent point guard is interested in trading them.....I dunno hit up the Knicks for Immanuel Quickley? Norman Powell is a shooting guard that doesnt work........Ugh Markelle Fulz? Like where is the help coming from? Dejounte Murray off the Hawks even though he kinda sucks?........*sigh* gonna be a tough year. Who is even available? Someone off the Nets maybe? ugh
As a Bucks fan i knew our defense was gonna suck but not be as bad as it has been so far hopefully it improves. The thing i am more surprised about is not seeing more pick and rolls between Giannis and Dame.
These past two games they’ve looked a lot better so I hope this is a good sign. Ajax has helped a ton with the activity and energy so I hope he keeps getting 10+ minutes a game.
dame also has had slow starts to his last couple seasons then ending them on a heater and now that he can see the fact that he has a legitimate chance to win a ring he’s gonna be locking in for the post season like never before
If you read that part of the article too, it actually says the defensive rating is better with Dame on the floor. I know the defense will probably around league average after some time. New star player, as well as a whole new coaching staff. A lot of new stuff to learn.
knicks fan here, brunson's lack of efficiency at the rim has definitely been surprise, calling out his floater specifically was weird but dude has been killing it from 3 on a bunch more attempts then last year so it has all kinda balanced out
Whoever wrote this article completely missed on the OKC one. Sure Giddey has had a slow start but the rebounding has been abysmal and will be the downfall if they don't figure it out. Guys like Val, Capela, etc are eating it up on the glass vs us and the wings that crash the boards get an offensive rebound more often than not. Thankfully they are shooting really well from the field so defensive rebounding hasn't been that much of a factor but when the shots stop falling, rebounding will need to be addressed.
@@BillMan5000 Giddey is barely 21, progress isn’t linear and I think our fanbase likes to jump on one player year after year to go after. He will be fine.
I mean depth doesn't fully matter when you're top 6 is absolutely amazing, but it truly does fall of a cliff after those 6 or so. After Horford, you're relying on guys like Hauser, Pritchard, and Kornet even
Mavs is just the lack of rim protection and wing defence. It was always going to be a problem. Also of course Josh Green playing badly is not helping, especially when he's a wind defender.
One thing I’ll note about the Pacers transition stuff is that they are rarely scoring directly off transition (relative to expectations) but they push the pace so much that they are creating tons of mismatch which does contribute to the half-court statistical success. Needs to be a statistical category for the period between transition and half court offense lol
Just seen he's shooting 50% from 3 so far 👀 Yet another dude that comes back from Olympics or World Cup and keeps balling out. Haliburton on that international carryover rn too
as a twolves fan, cannot be happier even after a loss. 3 games in 4 days is rough and to go 2/3 for the timberwolves is CRAZY. im used to 1/3 or goode eggs. this team starting out hot has bout them runway for whatever usual slumps they have.
The Raptors are in the exact same situation we were in last year, we have a legit playoff calibar starting lineup, Scottie looks incredible, Pascal is starting to improve his scoring, and the rest of our starting lineup has been great, but we have zero depth, like it’s actually terrible how bad our bench is, like seriously other then Precious Achiuwa we have nobody coming off the bench making an impact
I am surprised the Pacers weren't criticized for their lack of defensive consistency, especially on the perimeter. The defense from the bigs looks good (most of the time) but there's times it looks like nobody even knows their assignment.
The Thunder's problem has more so been rebounding as opposed to Giddey's slow start. As you said, Giddey has been inconsistent, which means he's still had some great games, but a significant problem which has consistently been really bad. So far they rank 29th in rebounds per game, and it's been very limiting on both sides so far.
As a Bucks fan, honestly i hope the smoke keeps coming. Every single game the team looks better on both ends. Especially the last 2 games Looking forward to Dallas tonight and Boston coming up cuz idk how much the Philly, NY, and Miami games are worth for gauging em even though they were all wins
Blazers: Scoot Henderson (very limited games so far) Game. I wasn’t expecting fireworks right away but man he’s looked shaky, nervous, well.. like a rookie. Times in our favor, everything we did this off-season is for the long term. I think we were spoiled with Dame being great right away as a rookie but have to remember he was 23. Scoot is still just 19. The injury sucks now, but I’m hoping we can see some progression little by little!
I've been specifically watching Ayton in the game highlights and MAN is he sucking. I watched him literally watch a ball roll away and the other team pick it up the other night. And I think Camara threw his hands up like "are you asleep?"
This is the same Trae as he's always been. Mediocre shooter for how many attempts he puts up. Foul merchant. Garbage defender. Poor creator of offense (no assist numbers aren't correlated to this). Hawks got lucky in 2021. Mitchell Robinson was injured for the Knicks and the Sixers had Ben Simmons playing basketball for them.
As a Raptors fan, Masai and Bobby have burned all the goodwill from the championship already. It's been years and nothing has been done with this god awful bench, and they just keep compounding the issue by giving away frps for aging washed vets and for players they could have signed in the offseason. If Siakam is still on this team by the end of this season it will be a massive failure on the front office.
Man, I’m not a Raptors fan, but I’ve felt this way about Masai for quite some time now. For me, it almost felt like the championship run carried him & his reputation, but since I’m not a Raptors fan, I can’t really say much. Thought the fanbase still love the guy. Good to know there’s some of them who shares the same view as me.
Hard since the main offensive coach left before the first game of the season Terry Stotts blazers old head coach who coached dame for 9 years sucks he left
Celtics: 3pt defense. Adding KP makes the defense play more drop instead of the switching defense that led us to the Finals in 2022. I still expected the perimeter defense to be great with JB, JT, Jrue and White out there, but so far this season they’re getting lit UP from three.
Nets fan here: our defense isnt doing too well due to the previous absences of nic claxton. We are mainly worried as to when cam thomas will come back and how thing will look healthy
Warriors fan here. Central problem is a short center. Warriors must trade Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins or another player to acquire a center taller 🦒 than 6 feet and 9 inches. Cheap as Josh Hartenstein or as expensive as Myles Turner.
I slightly agree with the blazers take. I mean Injures to their 3 guards in the first two weeks is crazy. We have a guy that was on a two way, starting at PG. Sharpe is also dealing with a right-hand thumb injury. They are still playing decent, but early injures have hurt. (I didn't mention R-Will because he is MR. Glass)
What do you think of Camara? I also enjoy seeing late draft picks get a lot of run as rookies, from the few games I’ve seen he looks good defensively and plays with a lot of hustle, just no offensive game rn
As a rockets fan going into the season and especially after summer league I expected a big jump from Jabari smith jr he’s been very mediocre to start to season but thankfully we had that alpy jump 🙏🏽
For the Cavs, it’s definitely been either how bad our perimeter defense has been, or how *godawful* our bench is outside of LeVert. We probably have the worst bench in the league from the 7th through 15th man.
As a Nuggets fan. I love Christian and he truly got so many intangibles. He offer so much on defense, hustle, energy and rebounding, but i'm disappointed with his 2nd year. I was expecting him to rise up and move forward with his game. I was expecting so much more from his offensive game. I was expecting his shooting to be much better at least hitting 34% from 3pt. I was expecting him to get better at creating for himself and usage of picks. I'm in love with his defensive game and everything else, but i was expecting him to do a jump and get his shooting right. 45% is fine, but 22% from 3pt and 68% isn't good specially since he was a 38% and 75% at college.
I think the Ivey situation is good for detroit because the structure of the basketball being played just looks better. Detroit basketball looks better when both sides of the ball is being played.
Yeah I don’t think the Ivey situation is the problem. Does it play apart of why we’re struggling? absolutely. But Cade being our leader needs to show that he wants to win at all cost. He seems more concerned of what he’s doing off the court
Wizards:I didn't expect us to be this bad at rebounding, I fully figured Deni and Kuz would be 6+ a night and hoped Gafford would be a consistent double double guy but Gafford leads the team at 7.6
Knicks real problem is Julius randle slow start, is barrett red hot start Real and what are we going to make a move before our guys lose a ton of value
Our biggest problem as a sixers fan is Kelly Oubre getting smoked by some asshole in center city. Hope he can recover and come back hooping how he was before the accident.
Lakers: It’s hard to believe that Darvin Ham knows what he’s doing. He’s “defensive minded” but our defense is shit, and our offense (always has been) stagnant. I think we have a talented roster so it makes me think Darvin Ham is the problem.
My problem with how people tlak about jaylen brown and trae young. Is that vanvleet was better than last regular seaon . But they are saying vanvleet doesnt deserve the money .how about those 2. But you knwo to people who dont know basketball more points = better player . Despite the fact that removing jaylen brown from the floor lost the team only 0.6 points . When he is avaraging 26. And the same this year ,abd people will still be surprised in playoffs
All 3 of those losses were close games and RJ was sitting for all of them. Donovan Mitchell will only help this team if RJ is still here. Donovan also isn't nearly as good as people want him to be. Jalen Brunson is better.
Kenny, my friends are constantly having debates over whether or not they could score 10 points in an NBA game, haha. Two guys who only played up until 5th grade/rec leagues, think they have the IQ, stamina, skill, speed, agility, footwork, length, passing ability, etc, to be able to sit on the three point line and chuck threes. These 5'9 dudes aren't going to be able to even get a shot up, let alone score 10 points. The disrespect towards these NBA players is laughable. It's the same notion from people who don't watch the NBA because "There's no defense". Such a lazy argument, and just shows how little these people know about the NBA and basketball as a whole. Would love to hear y'all's opinion on this.
@@Phoresight that's what I'm saying. these guys don't have the endurance to run past a couple possessions. 24 sec shot clock is so fast. They couldn't get open and get a shot up versus the length & closeout speed in NBA. Even with a superstar to draw attention, it would require high off-ball IQ to know where to be in-comparison to a NBA level defender. Their 100% doesn't match up to the worst NBA bench players 50%.
OKC it's cleary the defensive rebound, how many offensives rebound the opposing team can take is crazy, almost 30 vs Hawks and Pels already Edit : And again tonight vs Warriors ! So frustrating
Whoever wrote this article should be fucking fired for not putting the Celtics problem as their limited depth. The only worthwhile guys coming off the bench are Hortford Pritchard and houser. They are too too heavy and everyone knows that smh
as a nuggets fan, christian braun had an injury and didn't play in the off-season at all, so he's going to need some time to get to the level he can get, but he's already playing decently and he's going to be just fine as a bruce brown replacement. context does matter. with all that said, it's quite cool that that's our biggest issue right now.
As a Celtics fan, I feel like there really aren’t real flaws with this team right now. My only concern would be Mazzulla in the playoffs but he could be better than last year in which case this team should win a championship.
8:55 Let's be honest kenny it's more your lack of knowledge than it is the people writing these aritcles. Like seriously you didn't even know how to say nepotisim a few months ago.
Kenny acting like "shoddy" & "inexplicably" are some posh ass words got me dying lmaooo. You in the media now broski, SAS & the rest of the media be using those words like it's nothing 😭😭
I dont understand how it isnt defense for the Pacers as a Pacers fan. Our offense in the half court or transition is top notch. Its the defense being ranked 28th that needs work. It doesnt need to be top 10 scoring all them points but it needs to be respectable
Yeah I would have to agree. Great rim protection with Turner, great perimeter defense with Bruce Brown, and great length with Hali. Seems like a recipe for success on the defensive end.
@@Weather_Nerdhe is. He just doesn’t try as much since he carries the offensive load. When he was in SAC, he was very promising as a defender. Not 1v1 (he’s too skinny) but as a help defender.
For Lakers, it's definitely the impact of Vanderbilt's absence. I been saying since the Westbrook trade that he's the most influential piece for getting wins vs not, especially because he brings energy right out the gate. So far, Lakers have only gone into halftime up ONCE this season.
When you're team alpha is lazy on defense your whole teams gonna slack on defense. Lebron doesn't fight through screens close out hard and run back on fast breaks unless he thinks he might get a highlight chasedown block. Why would any other laker hustle when their leader doesnt?
As a Suns fan, our defense has surprised me. I think our lack of wing depth, chemistry, and injuries are our biggest issues. Looking forward to the debut of our big three
As Bucks fan, their biggest issue is the newness of everything. I expect them to look a lot better once things begin to gel. They're already showing improvements on the defensive end.
I feel like the reason the defense rating dropped with the bucks is with the dame and drue holiday trade, jrue holiday is known for solid defense and they traded him for dame and malik Beasley 2 offensive pieces
Orlando has gotta figure out some better rotations in the second half...to have a lead like they did last night against a team like Chicago on an off night like they had without DeMar and lavine having that slow of a night there's no reason it should've been down to the wire....even without fultz and Wendell that second half is all on the coaching staff
