This makes so much sense! Between working at a drawing board for years and then a computer, my head position definitely shifted. I thought it was because of a car accident/whiplash that I had years ago. Sometimes I would feel as though the areas of the occipital nerves were so tender and hurt. When I told my doctor that it hurt to touch my head back there he said, "don't touch it". Really? I wish I had known this years ago, but will start practicing every day. Dr. Mandell, thank you for all of the information that you give. Have a blessed day as well as those who read this. 🥰

Amazing. Dr. Mandell hits everything right on the head. That explains a lot. When explaining to another physician all they say is get an eye exam and return back or increase fluids when describing the brain fog. This explains a lot. Thank you a lot Dr. Mandell.

I have been battling brain for for 3 years. I recently was prescribed Effexor by my stupid doctor. I went online and listened to many people talking about the consequences of that drug. I decided that I would try everything else before taking that evil medecine. I stopped smoking weed. I changed my diet. I exercised. I started to have good days for the first time in years but somedays I would revert back to square one. I decided to eleminate every food that I ate before I felt the fog. It turns out that hydrolized proteins were the culprit. I discovered it because I had been feeling great for a few days. One night I ate chicken and white rice and still felt good. The next day however, I ate the rest of the chicken and rice but added soy sauce to the rice. And it hit me like a ton of bricks. I could barely think. I have repeated the experience 3 times and everytime it's the same. I have since avoided all MSGs and I feel like my old self again. I'm so glad I didn't take that stupid medication. There is hope people.
@moonlightontheriver
@moonlightontheriver 6 лет назад
wow, awesome ! do you think white rice caused the brain fog, or just the soy sauce ?
@rundownaxe
@rundownaxe 6 лет назад
Soy sauce and Bovril are the biggest culprits. They both list hydrolized soy proteins in the first couple ingredients. I've since discovered that sulphites also hit me pretty hard. Bottles lemon juice makes me feel bad but actual juice from a lemon is fine. With both MSG and Sulphites out of my diet, I feel so much better. like 90% better. Last week I also gave up caffeine and the oher 10% came back. If it wasn't for the headaches I'd be feeling like a million bucks. They are going away now though. It feels so good to be able to read a book again. I just have to cook like my grand parents did. I wonder how many people would feel better by taking out crap from their diets. How many people were prescribed medication for a simple problem with a simple solution.

Thank you for the RU-vid videos they are very informative. I was wondering 1. If the natural curve in the neck is restored from military neck, to the natural curvature, can that help anxiety? 2. When someone has “military neck“, does it put a lot of pressure on the atlas? And if the natural curvature is restored, will it take pressure off of the atlas? Thank you very much :-)

Hi Doc, this is very helpful! Can this also cause dizziness? I have been struggling with it for 2-3 months now, sometimes getting better, sometimes worse (I think it is also stress related). Also what I almost constantly feel is that my whole body needs a huge stretch, it is almost like my body wants to "yawn" if it makes sense. Can these all related to this posture? I am sitting in front of my laptop all day...

Brain clarity is also directly related to blood sugar levels. When your blood sugar is too high, the precursor for dopamine cannot cross the blood brain barrier. When your blood sugar is too low, your brain lacks oxygen due to not enough sugar to process the oxygen. Some foods should be eaten in small amounts - eg: Choko fruit - they reduce your stomach's ability to absorb sugar and so someone who eats choko fruit might have low sugar levels for a few hours and then a sudden burst of sugar as all the sugar in the stomach becomes usable again. Dopamine is directly related to the feeling of reward you get and that is core to the feeling of motivation because when you imagine achieving something - you feel a taste of the reward and that motivates you. But for someone with low dopamine - they understand what to do but cannot start because it's like they are a Ferrari with no wheels. They know every step of how to do something but they just can't do it. This is because there is no dopamine being released to reward the person and so suddenly there is no reward for something they know they want to do. It's like paralysis of the brain's ability to follow it's own logic.

Question: Could this impact on the spine also be caused by, as a passenger, having too many car accidents at an irresponsible age? I have Epilepsy since birth with Aspergers (or so they tell me) but I was also quite the party animal when I was in my early to mid 20's. made lots of bad choices and ended up in over 20 such accidents. I know that at the base of my skull 1 vertabra sits at a sharp 90 degree angle and at the base of my spine I have one that is also at 90 degrees but the oppose side to the top. (I saw the x-rays from the Chiropractor who was working with me for many years.) I frequently experience brain fog, memory issues (from each seizure I have) and in the past 5 years my vision has seriously deteriorated. Also would you be able to help us understand the impact to the skull and the gray matter when it connects with the hitch of a 5th wheel? It wold go a long way in helping a friend of mine who hit their head 4 months ago. Thanks

Didn't know about the muscles behind the back and the stress on the body. The very first thing that distress the organs it was a surprise that I am hurting myself in ways that it us mentally and verbally. Contractions and I was worried about pregnancy during labor. If you go low down lower and go high go higher.🎉I know the word inflammation 😅 but that acknowledgment about the pen pointing is funny to me because my favorite thing is anything to do with a pen. Thanks.😊

Today a lady asked me to go get Napkins and for some reason my brain was thinking she needed paper bags and I said aren't they back there? Opposite of where she was pointing and then someone just jumps up and gets them and it took me seeing the Napkins in her hand to realize I was thinking paper bags even though she was saying Napkins. My mind was thinking she needed paper bags. I had decent sleep, hadn't ate yet it was still morning but I had a super b complex with methylfolate and b12 that morning on an empty stomach. My brain was half a sleep and I kept making mistakes from being in such a fog. I was very embarrassed and can't explain how i took the word napkin as paper bags. Is that common?
