Slim, your camerawork makes it really seem like you have a crew following you. I really appreciate the work that must go into setting the kayak down, going to set up a camera, going back, walking past the camera, going back for the camera, and repeating that over and over. Same with the shots of the car going through the puddle in the "road" on the previous video. You put a lot of work into getting those angles and you do it so well that you could almost not even think about it as a viewer.

You keep outdoing yourself and bring me so much enjoyment…you make me feel as though I am right there seeing what you are seeing; walking where you are walking; watching you come into view from around the corner or disappear in the distance: love these shots. Realizing the planning and time it takes while also being a viewer is just plain special. Thank you, Slim.

Loved your picture of the mountain with clouds so pretty. The underwater photography was interesting. That trail you hiked was something else, a real obstacle course but the features along the way and the waterfalls were beautiful. Your wild flower shots are so nice. Love your sense of humor Slim. Happy Trails.

Great video. There are wheels that you can attach to one end of your kayak. They're good for most terrain and not expensive. BUT I want to tell you about my sasquatch experience there. When I was about 8 years old my family went to Katadin. My father, older brother and me went for a hike. About an hour into the hike my father froze in his tracks when heading around a big boulder. We all came to a screeching halt. My father turned around, looked at us and said, "Let's go back. No talking." He was pale as a ghost. My brother and I were disappointed but did as told. My brother asked why several times but my father wouldn't answer. Back at the site my mother was surprised to see us. She asked what happened and my father said he'd tell her later. Evening came and my brother and I went to sleep in the tent. I could hear my brother snoring and my parents talking. My father told my mother that he saw a tall hairy man, looking like an ape, coming down the trail. Needless to say we packed up early the next morning and left. This took place in 1967.

Awesome recovery to your stay! I found it easier to shoulder carry that style of kayak...especially on a haul that long...which took some serious determination! Slip a sliced pool noodle over the cockpit rim for some padding if desired. Also, if your tie down straps hum, give them half a twist to stop the fluttering in the wind. I hope you make it back in the fall, that could be incredible if you time it right.

That shot of those mountains peeking through the fog is spectacular, it would be a gorgeous painting. Beautiful trillium. Sometimes the state parks need to be reserved a year or more in advanced. We have to do that for the Pennsylvania state park we use for our family reunion. Try Killian’s Red beer sometime, my favorite.

I really enjoyed trying to ID the bird calls as you hiked, I recognized a few of them...One tip is on a paper map just the little Tent symbol, normally means primitive campsite the one with a tent and a tree beside it normally a little more developed you probably already knew that...take care.

Slim, checkout strap-on kayak carts. They are just wheels strapped to the kayak and weight little. I can put 80 lbs of"crap" on it and tow it with "little" effort. I'm 67 and can lug 100lbs. with it over 3 miles to camp in one trip (mileage may vary).

Get yourself a kayak portage cart. You can buy one ready made or catch a few RU-vid tutorials and make one from PVC. Use golf cart wheels, they seem to be the perfect compromise over not getting stuck in terrain and being able to easily be pulled over terrain. I'm in my 70's and a bit beat up yet can still kayak the wilder spots due to not having to carry my boat.

Your kayak is made of rotomolded polyethylene, which is the heaviest of materials to make a kayak out of. For a durable, light weight kayak that won't break the bank, you want one made of vacuum molded ABS plastic sheet with an acrylic top surface. They are extremely light in comparison to the rotocast or rotomolded ones. For example an Eddyline Sky 10 is 32 lbs and a Hurricane Santee 116 with a XL cockpit opening is 37 lbs, vs an Old Town 106 very similar to what you have is 45 lbs. A little shopping will find you a good used one.

I love when you wax poetic Slim. I must say I get incensed when I see garbage in a natural area. I spent Memorial Day in a state park preserve in Connecticut. When I opened my van cargo doors I had such a beautiful view of the valley and marshes framed by the hills as the hawks circled above. Unfortunately some people pulled up right next to me with their music blasting. I kept my patience until they left a little later but they left trash all over the parking area. I picked it all up and it filled half a trash bag. I just don't understand how some people think it's okay to do that.
