The Uluru Statement From The Heart was written by more than 250 delegates from all over Australia gathered at Uluru, Northern Territory, on the lands of the Anangu people, at the First Nations National Constitutional Convention in 2017. After centuries of struggle for recognition and justice, the statement calls for the establishment of a ‘First Nations Voice’ enshrined in the Australian Constitution and the establishment of a ‘Makarrata Commission’ to supervise agreement-making and truth-telling between governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Midnight Oil continue to stand up and have to balls to keep the conversation going to bring justice to the first nations peoples. I understand Jim's frustration about how slow progess is, but as a band and as articulate and educated poltical activists, you do continue to inspire other generations. Don't give up!

Growing up in rural Australia in the 70’s & 80’s you witnessed the inequality and racism every day. To deny its existence was to deny reality. We have come a long way in this country, but the we still have a ways to go. I’m loving this new mini album. It is another chapter in the rich musical history of Midnight Oil, but more importantly in the history of Australian voices. We have so many wonderful and beautiful voices in this country for us to celebrate. The Makarrata Project is a powerful piece that I hope inspires people to delve into that history but also is an impetus for change.

I was extremely dissappointed for my country when the Uluru Statement from the Heart was effectively ignored by the Australian government. I know from experience that golden opportunities like the Uluru Statement from the Heart don't come along very often and you need to grab them when they do.

NO TO THE VOICE NO TO APARTHEID Makarrata is the spearing of a wrongdoer in the thigh to prevent him from hunting and to make him walk with a limp. Truth telling is only one sided and is not the truth at all
