He was definitely being sarcastic. Everyone knows that children and animals are hard to work with, and I don't imagine that Christopher Walken is any easier.
A LOT. lol. This was, by FAR, the WORST version of the Peter Pan musical I have EVER SEEN in my 35 years. And I have seen a lot of versions of Peter Pan. Christopher Walken was the WORST Hook. He looked like he had guzzled a gallon bottle of Nyquil before every single scene and he just stumbled through his performance. He wasn't charming. He wasn't devious. He was just BORING. And I HATED that they broke tradition and did NOT double-cast Mr. Darling and Hook like they have done in EVERY OTHER VERSION of Peter Pan. Allison Williams was also the WORST Peter Pan. There was no effervescent cockiness. There was no child-like spirit. Again, she was just rushing through the lines for a paycheck. This meant NOTHING to her. The scene where she's supposed to be pleading with the children of the world to save Tink was the worst. At least in the Cathy Rigby version, when she does this same scene, the audience is so inspired that they clap without being prompted to. Honestly, the only good acting came from Mrs. Darling who is only onscreen for a couple of minutes. lol
Well, Christopher Walken isn't that good maybe but, Allison Williams is good and she's always wanted to play Peter. But, as that man said: "The Christopher Walken way of playing Hook, IS the Christopher Walken way of playing Hook!!"
Ok that was very informative! Am I in a minority who actually enjoyed the performance last December? Don't get me wrong I did like it but of course it wasn't perfect. The cast was really good despite that miscasting of Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. The only song I knew before seeing the show I was I Won't Grow Up. The costuming and scene designs were beautiful. Ultimately, it was right on par with the Sound of Music Live and improved a little from it at the same time. I expect The Wiz Live to be spectacular next month. Good luck to NBC
you guys did an amazing job i watch it all the time ive lost weight from watching this by walking on the tredmill i cxant believe how good it is. i realy can put it into words sorry about my typing typing in the dark.
+RooMcGoo I thought Kelli was good too and she has one of the most beautiful voices on the planet. I already saw her in the Lincoln Center broadcasting of South Pacific 5 years ago. When she was casted, I immediately decided to give Peter Pan a try last year.
+Jacob Bush It was originally a British play :/ the play should of been acted out by British people or a fake british accent at least it's not that hard.
Never, EVER seen Sound of Music or Peter Pan! I have seen parts of Peter Pan but, not Sound of Music! I've seen the Sound of Music poster and is the woman playing Mrs. Darling in it?!
This is so amazing I would love to meet Allison in real life they are doing an amazing job and Taylor now plays Regina in Mean Girls and I love to meet her in person as well
+Bob Sewvello For Grease Live, the behind the scenes magic was given away during the broadcast. But I say let's keep it where it's revealed before the broadcast.
I'm not the uploaded, but I don't think it can be uploaded for copyright. However it can be watched for free at nbc.com for a few weeks and then it will be released on dvd
John is so cute!!! He's only eight years old! And I love Taylor Louderman! And Bohdi is so cute as Nana! I loved Allison Williams' potrayal better than Cathy Rigby's.
The fact that i have no idea who christifer walken is and i came here for one of the newsies😅 Its the guy in the blue shirt at around 30:01 i think. His name is Chris McCarrell😊 34:14 hes here too(same shirt) He also has a video on tiktok where he talk about how he got cast and how terrible it went XD
Comparing Walken’s performance during the rehearsal, it’s strange that all his passion had just disappeared during the formal show. By reviewing these clips it feels like he should be an interesting guy, I don’t know why he appears so boring that night.
I honestly hated this version idk why I think I just didn't like the girl who played Peter Pan... But, my orchestra teachers sister played as a first cello in this and in the sound of music
I agree... Why a girl for the part??? And girl that's too OLD at that. I couldnt see her as the character.... Just as an over grown girl dressed in a peter pan suit at Halloween. lol. smh
***** Actually they made a woman play the role because men's voice is too deep. And they need high voices. If you look up Cathy Rigby and listen to her singing you'll see why it's good they choose women. Trust me I love Cathy Rigby's singing.
+horselover123417 maybe i like her voice but that still doesn't make it right.. a man/boy is Peter pan no matter of their pathetic voice. seriously.. what's next? a girl will play superman?
