Maddi Hampton well then you should know the real story. Pocahontas was kidnapped and used as ransom to get more land from her people. Then raped and brainwashed. In England she married her captor John Rolfe and got her son Pepsi before her death. Disney left out the genocide, of not just a tribe or federation, but a whole continent. The US was founded on the biggest genocide in world history and slavery.

Maddi Hampton i so agree with you! like, all that happend in the first movie -the romance, the sacrifices went all to nothing because in the end it wasn't John Smith that she ended up with anyway. nonetheless, it's based on a true story so people with sentiments like ours cant really do anything to change that fact cause disney just did what theyre supposed to. 😢

Kudos to the provider for the titular character's spoken voice for not only hosting this particular event, but also for reprising her role for the Disney Princess crossover in Ralph Breaks the Internet! It is such a touching film with incredible animation, voice acting and music that makes your heart soar every single time. Watching it was the "bread and butter" of my childhood. However, it does need to be said that I wish they had either structured the story to fit with the known historical records, or thought up a wholly fictional alternative. Of course a Disney film could never show the cold hard facts, in fact no film could.
@LukeTieppo1694
@LukeTieppo1694 8 лет назад
But why not at least base the main story points in the correct order? Have Captain John Smith captured early on in the film. Pocahontas and Smith meet when she saves his life. What an icebreaker. And she did not just save him because she loved him. She would have saved him just for the sake of saving a human life. Which would add volumes to her character. From there on it is decreed by Powhatan that if Smith lives, Pocahontas and Smith must learn from each other. Build the rest of the Disney romance story from there. That would have been better.

I love this movie. I got the soundtrack on cassette and listened to it every day. I also used to crack up a little when people would go on rants concerning the geography in the film. 1- its a Disney movie so of course it's exaggerated and 2- being native to Virginia, the landscape they depict does, in fact, exist. There is a bluff overlooking the James near my house that could be the model for the one she stood on watching Smith leave. The only thing they went a little crazy with was John Smith somehow managing to go from Jamestown to the Blue Ridge in the course of one song lol

I AM 31 YEARS OLD AND AM ONLY JUST REALIZING JOHN SMITH THE ENGLISHMAN IS VOCIED WITH AN AMERICAN ACCENT. It's crazy how films we saw so young kinda stay packed up in our brains and seen through the eyes of our kid self even when watching it many years beyond.

The people who drew Pocahontas intentionally made her to look like Irene.

Linda Hunt as Grandmother Willow. First got to know who she was thanks to Kindergarten Cop as the school principal. Glen Keane? Those names mentioned over what characters he drew, can’t believe they left out Ariel! She’s just as significant as his follow-up drawings!
