A truly underappreciated film when it was released. I think it's beginning to get some respect over time by a new audience who gets it completely. I always enjoyed it.
I agree, it's absolutely gorgeous and way ahead of its time, like some of the stuff shown in here genuinely looks like the supercars being released in the late 2010s and early 2020s
There are five pedals within the cockpit…. There’s the two for acceleration and braking…. Then one is for the thrusters, one for the clutch and one for unlocking the back wheels for drifting….
As a simracing fanatic, I find it amazing that they used rFactor in making the driving scenes. I just saw the sim while scrolling through the credits, made me wonder how it played its part in the movie.
This film changed the world without anyone knowing it. As a kid this film really appealed to me and watching it again, gives me so much appreciation for how creative it was.
No thanks. The movie we got is as good as it needs to be. Today's reboots will put eleven subcultures and make a big deal about minorities being forced into the screen and miss the point of the material entirely.
@@lasarousi This of course is why we get the Wachowskis to do it- they made the first one, they know what they wanna do, and personally I trust their artistic vision. Though given the multicultural nature of the film, which they touch on throughout the video, I think subcultures would still play a role
It never looked real. You probably assume in the early 2000's movie vfx were not as good as they are now. Not at all true, for many films, they were better than the effects now. But this film isn't one of them. They look fake AF which is a big part of the reason the movie flopped.
i'm also pissed they didn't use the actual track models in the speed racer game or even find the full 3d models of the tracks like thunder head, the fuji helexicon, or the gran prix
They made a copy of the Mach 5 prop that actually runs, it's based from a 70s Corvette. Hope there'd be a real Mach 6 sometime in the future with actual 4 wheel steering and stuff
I like how all the previs background cars have that almost uniform style of 60s-70s racer car look. Kinda wish the cars looked a bit more retro to match the anime
@@freindmaker4473 Yes they are secretive, but that is the only reason they don't appear here. First off, you can't change your gender, secondly, the brothers didn't go full mental until 2016.
@@elijahblechman4859 Sorry to disappoint you but I don't have Gender Dysphoria and I know the difference between a Man and a Woman, in which you can't even define. Unlike you who thinks girls get erections, I am not mentally ill.
There's also a blimp with an advertisement for Autobacs in the scene prior the start of the Casa Cristo race. Speaking of Autobacs, at 8:09 you can see an ARTA Grand Prix Race Car that's entirely based on ARTA's GT300 ASL Garaiya from JGTC/Super GT, featuring not only logos from Super Autobacs itself, but for thier failed ASL manufacturer.
Just one question... What are all the sponsor's names? I can make out "PURR security" and "Rude Noodles" and some others, but I still can't make out most of them.
funny thing mclaren's F1 team car (MP4/12 1997) have 3 pedals they called it second brake pedal en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLaren_MP4/12#Second_brake_pedal
Hello, I don't know if you'll even see this, but is there any chance that you could re-upload this in better quality somehow if you still own the Blu-Ray? Some bits of this could really use some more pixels. Regardless, thanks for the video anyways!
The problem is that "People React to Speed Racer" is a more accurate title for this movie. I think they should have focused more on the racing, with a better soundtrack, and it would have been received much better. I'm glad the Wachowskis made the movie. Without them it wouldn't exist at all and there's some really good stuff in this movie to enjoy. It's just their storytelling method wasn't very compatible with the content. In my opinion. Cast, Crew, Attention to Detail, and Story were all phenomenal, my only criticisms are the storytelling and soundtrack. That's all.
+Battlecruiser Plays Wow, I rarely see such a polite comment I so strongly disagree with. Sorry you felt the movie had some weaknesses in these areas, buy I'm afraid I didn't see them as you did!
the soundtrack was amazing wth? and focusing on more racing? the movie had a great mix of story telling and racing. hell the intro told a whole back story during a race
Yeah, but it worked that way in Sky Captain, and it looked good. The Speed Racer Movie had this amount of CGI, because they gave it, the illusion of Japanese anime in real life. You really need to watch anime shows and anime movies to know what I mean. If it concerns you so much, then watch 300, because I know, that's a better movie. Right?
