I was born in '62, and I've loved this movie ever since I was a kid, and it's still one of my all-time favorite movies. It makes me really happy to know that so many others love it as well.

It is a beautiful tribute to Ireland and its traditions. 🎉 Maureen O'Hara regilarly helped to type up the scripts and revisions. Which was amazing on her part. And she was not paid very much money.

Brilliantly made film with not a dud performance by anyone. For me Victor Mclaglen and Barry Fitzgerald as Michaeleen both put in superb performances that made the film for me, their time on screen is mesmerising, but so many supports roles were cast to perfection. It's a film I never tire of watching and is also one of the Dukes best. Films are no longer made like this so we must treasure them and make sure the next generations are not denied seeing these masterpieces.

A wonderful movie! Superb acting by all actors with speaking lines (ditto, the non-speaking roles). John Ford was at his best here, and his best is always superb, in my opinion. Leonard Maltin did a great job---as he always has---with this background story to The Quiet Man. Thank you all!

Very touching realtionship between Ford and Wayne who said things years ago that are now coming true in the declining nation of the USA who only DJT will save. As an Irishman, I loved the Quiet Man, and I'm sorry I can't write anymore as I am filling up with emotion.....! except to say that Maureen O' Hara came from my own town, Dublin, and she was devastatingly attractive! God Bless it all!

A co-worker of mine was a child growing up in the town where the film was shot. He told me he is one of the children in the background in a couple of scenes. Unfortunately he did not tell me which ones. One of my favorite lines in the movie is when the woman hands John Wayne the switch and says: HERE'S A STICK TO BEAT THE LOVELY LADY WITH.

I'm 65 and I have seen a lot of movies of all kinds. A few are my favorites and this one of my most favorite. I don't watch it often so I can save it for when I need to see it. And it's the same experience each time. And I've been watching it most of my life.

Love all the Wayne/O'Hara movies with "The Quite Man" as my favorite. No rooten-tooten shootem-up (which is exciting in itself), just a great and endearing "Real Man" story of fighting for true love with a "Real Woman" (literally, sometimes). Read the original short story, which very divergent from the screenplay. Though, I believe Ford and writers painted a beautiful yarn by creatively embellishing the tale. It's too bad the edited sceens were not considered to be preserved back then. A 'Director's Cut' or 'Extended version' would be highly acclaimed today, giving John Ford the final satisfaction over the studio execs of the time.

Prior to Covid, we took a train from Dublin to Galway. Cong, where many of the shots took place, is north of Galway and a taxi took us. We spent the night at an Inn in Cong (not a great number of amenities so be forewarned). Ashford Castle is a short walk from Cong and a wonderful place to tour. However, any serious tours of Ashford are for their guests (rates are pricey). If you are a Quiet Man fan then a visit to Cong is well worth it.

By my reckoning, Hollywood has produced two great movies with Irish themes, tho there are others, these stand out to me. 'The Quiet man', frankly a charming, elegant movie, and the 'Luck of the Irish' with Tyrone Power and Anne Baxter. One with a far more whimsical theme and the best Leprechaun (Cecile Kellaway) there ever was! Cecile Kellaway defined what a Leprechaun should always be, tho a bit larger than the myth. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qHssrqqLaHQ.html

The late, great maureen o'hara related a true story of her dearest friend,"the Duke". She says she was 'chauffeuring' an overly inebriated bff. She says, he said, "pull over"! Mr. Wayne goes to the door. When the owner opened the door and saw "the Duke", he was dumb struck. Duke said, "you gotta drink"? "Hell yes!"
