Norma took some videos and pictures along the way quilting this project (The Tie Quilt) -- This is Patti Willems Quilt and she used the pattern from a book - pattern from Shirley Botsford’s book entitled ‘Daddy’s Ties’. Quilting by Norma Reel.

Wow! So beautiful. I am not sure I have the skills or the appropriate machinery to produce one so exquisite. But, I am inspired. I am going to make a memory quilt of my uncles' ties for his daughter. This video showed me the pinnacle of creativity and perfection to making a memory item for her.

What kind of batting did you use for this masterpiece? So beautiful.

I used a double batting. 80/20 Hobbs on bottom and Heirloom Wool on top. Thank you for kind words.

Dear Helen - this was meant to be just an overall quilting video. If you would like full instructions on this process - the book is available to purchase with this pattern from the author. I do believe it was offered information in the post but I'm giving it to you again here and maybe that will help you. Pattern is from Shirley Botsford's book entitled "Daddy's Ties".

I wanted to know how to figure the cutting to make a circle that would be 36” in diameter.

I love this pattern. I am in a project where the idea is the same but the center medallion is a square of neckties rather than the round plate. Could you give me advise on how to lay out these ties in order to get the square shape instead of the round. You have no idea how much this information would be appreciated. Dear Bobby, This is not my quilt but a customer quilt that I quilted and I have not done a tie quilt so I'm not much help with that. I know my customer was using a pattern from this book if that helps. Shirley Botsford’s book entitled ‘Daddy’s Ties’...
