Join Maitreyabandhu for a second conversation with psychiatrist, writer, and literary scholar, Iain McGilchrist.
Following on from Jnanavaca's interview last week(link to event 1), Dr McGilchrist will be building on his research into the structure of the human brain to discuss how it has created the culture of our world today.

A powerful and insightful exploration of finding meaning and beauty in the world. Again, what strikes me is the wisdom and compassion of Iain McGilchrist.

One of the best interviews we've had with Mcgilchrist. Good job.

Wonderful open words on the danger of seeking to make poetry somehow ‘explicit ‘ - disembodied oh dear!

26:08 This segment where he's talking about dissociation and the connection with self-harm is so powerful.

I’m afraid I found this second interview with Ian McGilchrist disappointing, after the first. A few rather over-generalised statements about art criticism. Yes, BAD art criticism/teaching can bring about this interruption of communion with art I suppose, but GOOD art criticism/teaching is enormously helpful in enabling us to go so much deeper in our experience of it. And oh dear, a bit dismissive of modern art! There are many living artists whose work brings meaning to our experience, make us realise and awaken unexplored depths in our heartminds... Sorry but I believe passionately that ‘good’ art didn’t just stop being made! Best wishes - Vidyadasi
