Imagine going out and paying for a shave and they use a standard disposable razor that you would use at home?! The whole point of getting a shave is for the traditional cut throat razor treatment
The closest shave you can ever have, is with a straight razor. Period. Just watch some of the famous Greek, Turkish, Arab, Persian and Indian barbers at work. A lot of practice, a lot of learning and skill. Period.
Some customers have a Prejudice against it. Maybe they Watched Sweeney Todd too many times? Anyway on their website It says you have a choice of either.
"But nutria is a...kind of badger." "No. It's a kind of rat." "I bought a box of disposable RAT BRUSHES?" "Yes. And poorly made ones. Even by rat brush standards."
Oh seriously, get real, it isn't "unsanitary" as it is just a brush. I can understand not re-using a razor due to health implications with cuts, but a brush?? Really? Stop being so wasteful. Its...a... brush. Clean it and re-use it... If I was a customer of yours and found out you were throwing away perfectly good and new equipment, I'd use someone else. Other than that a decent video.
I have two close relatives that are Barbers, both disagree with you, years ago when the multi blades first came out, I bought one, my brother in law said, stick with the double edge, he was right.
Definitely not a real shave, just some generic shave. These men need to go to a real barber and get a straight edge shave with real technique....she just rushed through the whole shave...No pinaud, no clubman, no bay rum...not a real barber. A barber would know what I mean.
barbers were once doctors as well. They specialized in blood letting. Should we begin this ancient and worthless practice as well? Products and technology has come a long way.
+themaleroom1 You don't need to go back to those days. It's just an issue of offering a unique experience that your competitors currently offer. And by competitors, I'm referring to every other barber shop in the world. If you don't know how to do a straight razor shave, so be it. But acting like you're being progressive by using a an over the counter safety razor, and giving a shave that any guy can do at home, is silly.
+Joe bloggs we gladly accept valid criticism. Why so many feel the need to tell experienced professionals how to practice their craft when, like you, they clearly have no idea what they're talking about is beyond me.
+Joe bloggs to quote you....."why do u use scissors to cut hair I seen ur other videos. with the new technology available why dnt u jus lazer the damn thing off..."
themaleroom1 i can honestly tell you from experience that with some men these strokes will not only cause rash but actively wreck your face and especially neck. delicacy is the key and long strokes do not facilitate that. and to add to the point above, any old idiot can use a cartridge, we want something we can't do ourselves, and many men cannot use a straight razor and will definitely appreciate the authentic feel.
themaleroom1 You're not shaving legs, you're shaving the face. Short strokes would be better to do because the longer the stroke the more likely you'll snag something. Also, you should be using a straight razor as a few others have pointed out.
doesn't look like she's "stretching the fuck out of" his skin... remember facial skin is very delicate so it moves a lot. and you cant judge how gentle her touch is just by looking. if he had red raw skin with razor bumps... yeah that would be a different story
This woman's parents could not afford a 4 year college, so she dated an older man and used him to pay for beauty school. She was at the same beauty shop for 26 years until a friend of hers mentioned this new concept male pampering spa. She figured that she would use what sex appeal she had left to pamper men and get better tips than the 87 year old GiGi's gave her at her previous job. Unfortunately she will never be able to retire, her credit cards are all maxed out and her 23 year old daughter, whom lives with her, just realized she is pregnant again. With all this going on, she has to come in and smile at ugly old men everyday in hopes of getting a tip big enough to fill up the tank in her 2011 Ford Escape
I'm in no position to tell anyone their job, nor would I want to, but I do think a traditional straight razor shave would be a nice experience at a barber shop. A mach 3 type razor is more modern, yes, but he could do everything you just did every morning as he's getting ready for work. Again, obviously what you're doing is working for you, but as a business person myself, I understand the value of constructional criticism and customer input.
Other commenters have mentioned that on the site for this establishment it’s mentioned that customers can choose between a straight or disposable razor so unless their practices changed since the video was posted it was the customer choice not to use a straight razor.
