Welcome to my The Man I Love guitar lesson!
The Man I Love Gerorge Gershwin is a beautiful and very popular jazz ballad, that everyone should have in their repertoire.
While the song generally is in C major, it features plenty of minor cadences, which means you'll learn a lot of different m7b5 chords. Learning new jazz standards is a great way to learn new chords or other topics.
I'll show youhow to play The Man I Love guitar chords and weave the melody in between. It's also called The Man I Love guitar fingerstyle, since it doesn't really matter wheter you play it with fingers or with a pick, or like I do, hybridpicking.
Of course I've also made The Man I Love guitar tabs, which you can download from the link in this info box. You can play along with the backing track as well, or just play it as a guitar solo.

I look at your lessons all the time because they sound amazing but struggle to understand and play along fluently 😅im a bit in the late beginner stage of guitar but hope one day ill be able to follow along and learn all these songs

Glad you dig the tutorials. You should really check out the jazz chords, before attempting any chord melody song. I have a playlist here on YT for chords. Start with the basic Jazz 7th chords, then the tension chords. If you're a paud member of my channel you have a lesson path for my RU-vid tutorisks, so you can go through them systematically.

Fo you know the basic Jazz Chords and the Tesion Chords? Ylu shoukd taje a look into my Chords & Comping pkaylist or get my Chords Compung Starter Pack. It's available at a discount rught now on my shop guitarversum.com (it's right there on the start page). Chord Melody is the master discipline, which should picky be attempted sken you have good comping skills.

Most likely you are not using your pinky enough on the chords you know, and likely your playing posture is poor. It might be a good idea to get a few in person lessons with a proper teacher to show you good posture, and to encourage exercises using your pinky. As a head start, look up videos and images of classical guitar posture. Not saying you have to use it, but at least practice a bit using it, and you'll find that you can incorporate the hand / arm position in your normal playing posture. Second, practice, at least for 5 to 10 minutes a day, imagining you've lost the use of your index finger. You'll be amazed how fast this strengthens your other fingers, and opens up a whole new world of chords.
