When I discovered Mach-Hommy a few years back I was flabbergasted at how elusive he was. It was incredibly hard to find any information about him, and even harder to find any of his music. So now that Mach has stepped out of the shadows a little over the past couple years I figured I would try to make the video that I wish I had back when I first heard of him.

This was very insightful as I don't know much about Mach-Hommy other than he raps, is Haitian, and is cool with Fahim and Droog. I often have trouble understanding what he's getting at on his albums, especially without any lyrics online to follow. However, despite that I've found his music to be genuinely unique and captivating for reasons I can't articulate.

The problem with Mach's business model is that as much as he's not (directly) giving money to multi-billion companies, he is gatekeeping his music from people that can't afford it, pushing them to listen to it on streaming services, giving money to multi-billion companies, in turn. Let's face the truth, he just wants to make money by making his records a rare product, which he can do, since they are very high quality to me, but he doesn't do it for the listener, and it's not a bad thing. In fact, I think that the people who should listen to his music more are white americans, whose society exploited Haiti in the past and by the price it seems they are the actual target.

If you have access to THE GAT then start there. If you only got what’s on streaming then start with HBO, then Dollar Menu 1 and 2. Wap Konn Joj and Pray for Haiti after that
