I felt so bad for the friend when the gamer said 'I WASTED 5-6 hours being with him'. Like being on a game is time well spent but being with your friend is wasting your time. Clearly he is a game addict, and his friend is a real gold , because of his addiction he has become emotionless in the real world, he transferred all his emotions to the game world he can feel pain and the joy in the game world but not in the real one , he was able to go and comfort his friend from the game world but not able to go to his friend birthday, he might end losing the only friend who truly loves him and fears for him , he needs help from a real professional , i read that in some cases few gamers could end up committing suicide , because of that deep hole that is in between the two world they get completely lost , not being able to live in the real world like humans , and also not being able to separate from the fiction one,

On college, i also the one who always plays game,never attend class,never do thesis and finally dropped out. I was like that, once i was a biology major but dropped out bc im too focused on game, my parent got angry but i gave them reason its bc biology is too hard for me, then the next year i applied again on another major which is bussiness major, but i keep continue my habit playing games amd never attend class, then i dropped out again. This time my parent found out the real reason why i got dropped out twice bc i was too addicted to online games, they got more angry and didnt talk to me for like 6 months. That time i really realised my faults, on my lowest phase of my life i discovered kpop. I started to like kpop and get to know all about them, i adore their hard work. That was a turning point in my life, i came back home and tell my mom i'll do well this time and won't make her dissapointed again. She believed me and i applied to a new major, thats i ended up finally getting my diploma on hospitality. Until now, i still playing game but i toned it down a lil bit, i play it as long as it wont disturb my daily lives. And thanks for kpop, i can find my true purpose on life again. Thanks for teach me how to work harder, how to not give up even on the lowest phase on this live.

I can say that this is a concern. I studied in male-oriented community (engineering major) and like 80% of my male friends are interested or playing games. But there are 2 kinds of that people. The people who played games well but they also went to class, graduate and socialize just fine. And the kind of people (like that person), most of my friends at this one usually dissapeared in my society, they didnt do his thesis, playing games all day until they forgot to eat, work out, sleep, take a bath ect. Most of my seniors that in this category ends up dropped out from my college because they couldnt finish their study or graduated late. And those friends, even if they didnt have the same interest as him but they cared about him. They want him to atleast go to classes, graduated and living well (eat, sleep and take care of himself well) He still can play the game, but he should tone it down, he have to have the time for the other part of his life. His social life (even if its just like 1 time per month), his health, his circadian rhytm. Me myself is introverted person and didnt like to met people but I still like to meet my friends ocassionally.

This is what addictive gaming looks like. He's able to make tons of excuses because he's an ADDICT. Would it be different if he were gambling online? He's already losing a ton of time, money and his health. I can't believe they accused the friend of meddling. For me, this is a serious matter. You may say everyone has their own perspective and is freely living their life but we shall never deny the importance of people around us. Maybe now you can say people around you aren’t important but you may never know what might happen in the future, a situation where you desperately need somebody to help you. Don’t wait until it’s too late when they are already gone because of our ignorance and selfishness. As a human being, we can never say we can live alone.

Or they had to ask him what he was learning from playing games for his life. Playing games is ok. I play games too, but not every time. It's like taking a medicine. Taking medicine regularly may cure your sickness, but taking a lot of medicine could make you sick, or worse, die. Playing games are same. His childish brain can't relate.

Well...this dude (gamer guy) is literally me ... I'm completely addicted to the internet and doesn't care about the rest of the world [except for BTS 😅] it's like.... Now i feel like i don't even need to have friends. I'm trying my best to be in a relationship but then it never works out for me cuz i just get tired of ppl easily. My mum recently had an operation due to some leg condition, basically the chance was only 30% for her to be still alive. Every one was seriously worried for her but i was the only one who didn't give a crap. After watching this i feel like what I've done is miserably wrong and i should probably apologize to everyone. I have so many friends that now i feel like, I've betrayed all of them. They were there with me when i went through difficulties but i didn't even wanted to know that if they existed. I feel so sorry for everything.... I'm a person who never really was interested in going to school and stuff not because i hated to study (i mean i do hate it =_=..) but because of all these years that i got bullied becuz of LITERALLY NOTHING! I simply got bullied by girls. (i study in a only girls middle school) . Mostly all of them were surprised that even though i went through this much i still didn't cry. (that's what they thought) i always have been hanging out with the dudes after school and a lot of ppl said terrible things to me. And this is the reason i really hated EVERYONE in this world. I didn't really have a reason to love the world. Everyone found me as a funny and outgoing person but i never thought i was cuz inside of me, i knew that i hated every single person ever and all i thought was about physical abuse, violence,etc.. But now, i feel like i was completely wrong. I've found myself comfortable with my surroundings better and i hope this positivity stays longer with me .

I think the only concern here is that the gamer's friend seems to have invested so much time and his emotions into trying to help the guy, while he is very clearly happy with himself and doesn't want to be helped, and does not seem to appreciate the offline friends that he has. I hope they stopped being friends after this episode, because the gamer dude showed no remorse for how bad of a friend he is, or any willingness to improve something which is clearly an addiction.

My brother was just like this eloquent tongue gamer addict. He refused any opinions and only believed his own reasons, he didn't finish college because of computers and did not have any relationship with other people. Now that our family is done with him, he found himself uncapable of providing his needs/wants. He is now 30ish and is just about to get a real job. Sometimes he tells me that he has difficulties in the real world and often times sad and no one to talk to. Before, he was annoying now he is pitiful.

He talked about people being praised for studying diligently for days straight or working hard for days straight, and while that's true, it's only true when someone does that _every now and then_ . If they did that all the time, it would be a problem too. If someone missed their friend's wedding, damaged their health, and repeatedly ended their relationships because they worked for days or months straight all the time, that's a problem. If someone missed their loved one's birthday, repeatedly bailed on appointments, or wasn't there to comfort their friend in heartbreak because they'd rather study, that's a problem. They've even had people like this on Hello Counselor before. *It's bad to dedicate yourself to any one thing, no matter what it is, so much that you hurt yourself or cause others around you to suffer.* But I think the bigger problem is this: if he continues to live his life this way, at the end of everything, would he be satisfied with what he has accomplished? Why? Online games come and go; players change, servers shut down, and you'll shift from one game to another over time. But there is one game that you can never change, that you are stuck with for as long as you exist. And that's *this one*: reality, society, existence-- call it whatever you want. He's made himself an *alt account in his own life* . Meanwhile, he is losing the real game because he isn't even playing. If he played, there is no guarantee of winning. Totally understand the friend who's concerned I experienced the exact same thing with a friend, she thinks that we're not friend since we dont have any same interest and so she continues to continuously be friends with people online, and ignores me the friends we meet in real life even though we go to the same school and class. i remember when sims 4 first came out and i played it day and night. i even skipped certain days and a few meals to play through so many different lives. im over it now bc i was so underweight that i couldn't play any sport for more than 10 minutes without blacking out. it was such a scary experience bc no one was around when i blacked out. i hope that guy uses his time and energy to do something beneficial to his health.

no point getting concerned about him since he doesn't seem to hold his friend in *any* regard at all. he has someone who cares that deeply about him and doesn't give a shit. well, that's his loss. he can just continue being a 'leader' in his game and rot away in real life.

This is totally a concern though!! He takes supplementary pills instead of eating real food eating a good meal. He doesn't sleep and obviously that's a huge thing for the body to be able to function properly. He feels fine right now because he's still young, but all of that will bring severe consequences later on. He used way too much money on games. If he doesn't want to study, he should just be honest with his parents. the day he comes out of the real world he will find out that he is alone and has no friends. I used to be so addicted in watching drama and youtube that I hardly ever leave the house for just that. I was really addicted that i forgot that I have friend who want to be with me . I feel like my life has no trill and so much sadness. I don't even remember when the last time that I enjoying the fresh air outside and the trees because I was too busy with things that kept me from reality. and I regretted it because I didn't even get to do the things I should have done at this age. so hopefully he'll have some time to change himself and enjoy every moment of his life with his family and his true friends.

I think I can understand him even though it’s a concern that he plays to much. If you replace video games with anything, let’s say writing, no ones going to be like “I think you write to much, it’s a concern.” I think there is this kind of negative notion that does surround video games, which makes it look worse to people who actually don’t play video games. As someone who does play video games, it’s easier to spend time with online friends who share the same interest as you, then normal friends who don’t show the same interest as you. I don’t think he should be faulted for not having the same mutual feelings with his friends. People naturally gravitate towards people that are like them, that have similar interest... However, the fact that home boi over her doesn’t eat, doesn’t take care of his self and spends his parents money.. well that’s a concern p. I know what the gamer feel... I now because i have been like him. When i feel i don't need a friends, because my online friends is more fun for me, because they have same interest like me.
