The Manchurian Candidate Deleted Scene - How's Business? (2004) Meryl Streep Movie HD
When his army unit was ambushed during the first Gulf War, Sergeant Raymond Shaw saved his fellow soldiers just as his commanding officer, then-Captain Ben Marco, was knocked unconscious. Brokering the incident for political capital, Shaw eventually becomes a vice-presidential nominee, while Marco is haunted by dreams of what happened -- or didn't happen -- in Kuwait. As Marco (now a Major) investigates, the story begins to unravel, to the point where he questions if it happened at all. Is it possible the entire unit was kidnapped and brainwashed to believe Shaw is a war hero as part of a plot to seize the White House? Some very powerful people at Manchurian Global corporation appear desperate to stop him from finding out.

+DracoSlayerReturns The movie was art. MK ULTRA was evil. I think we all agree on that.

That line "I need to talk to you" at the end is in the main cut of the film and it struck me as apparently being an hallucination of some sort?

Suggestion: Meryl Streep portrays Livia the wife of Caesar Augustus. According to 'I Claudius' she was a real pistol whose favorite gladiator was a net thrower, the one with the trident and a net which had small lead weights around the edge to make a better throw. There must have been quite a few pistol wives of prominent Romans because one, unnamed, joked "We rule the world and our wives rule us". Legend has it Augustus prepared legal briefs to use when he had serious discussions with his wife. When Augustus died he said, "Well, Livia, did we play our parts well?", quoting a Greek play. Everybody quoted Greek plays then, even Julius when he said "Let the dice fly high" as he crossed the Rubicon with a forbidden army. Do I know my stuff or what, Charlie Chan?

As a Director that would have been so hard to have the editor make the suggestion to CUT it OUT. It fits … but I can see it’s a much tighter cut & better without it. That’s the mark of a brilliant collaboration between editor & Director.

Not a Meryl Streep fan. A brilliant TECHNICAL actress. But not one who works from the soul. She's all pretense (that is, when and where, unlike in this movie, soul in a character is required). Absolutely any role she's played, or ever will play, I'd prefer, for example, Glenn Close or Cate Blanchett to portray. Hands down. Any day. Whereas Streep manipulates by technique, twitches, accents, makeup, wardrobe -- absent truly palpable (versus "showy") depth. A perceptive viewer can see her wheels turning. All. The. Time. But with the likes of Close or Blanchett, it's seamless perfection, the real deal. Streep, by comparison, is popular, and held with glazed-eye adulation. Her performances are just that, affected, easy to swallow. The masses are always easily manipulated and easily impressed, lemmings to the sea. Whereas, Close and Blanchett challenge their audiences, fearlessly and honestly, to go to complex depths with them. Streep only pretends to. This woman never convinces me. I'm constantly aware that she's 'acting'. It's beyond annoying, and her hollow pretense corrupts/detracts from what may be a truly worthy movie. Because she's a technician type of actor, her performances wade in the shallow end of the pool. True artists don't wade. They dive.

2:22 - I always wondered what became of Eleanors husband/ Raymonds father. In the movie they seem to mention him only once, that he died suddenly many years earlier while in office. My imagination goes in many different directions, a tragic accident or a deliberate assassination? This deleted scene definitely implies it was deliberate. And if so, by whom?

It was a good idea to cut it. That scene was only for dummies that didn't figure out what the movie is about by that point, and we all knew by then.
