The actress who played the armorer is Emily Swallow. I don’t know if you ever watched Supernatural but if you did, she also played Amara, the Darkness, in season 11.

No, Moff Gideon wasn’t a mandalorian. He was none of those in the flashback People know of the Force but not all necessarily know that it’s real/grants powers, mainly that it’s something people believe in. Since I know you’re done with S2, I would point out when Mando gets in a chase with cops and before he speeds off he says “May the Force be with you.” That’s a one of a kind lightsaber that ypu’ve learned the name of by now. I see someone said that there’s backstory in Clone Wars. That isn’t wrong, but it’s very minor and it has much more backstory given in Rebels “I’m happy next season isn’t about him saving the child” Well…not the whole season 😬 You’ve already watched it, not a spoiler 😂 The newer trilogy is sequels, taking place 30 years after the original, so even further after this show. Rogue One is about how the rebels got the plans for the first death star, and Solo is how Han becomes a scoundrel smuggler

I get the feeling that we're pretty much in the same boat. The originals, and prequel never got me into Star Wars, but this new wave, and especially with Mando has a lot of us newbies hooked. And they're doing it with a lot of respect/love to the fans before us.

Here's some helpful info about Episode 8, "Redemption": The opening bit about the biker scout troopers missing the stationary target so badly was an acknowledgement of the popular Star Wars inside joke that stormtroopers have terrible aim! Jason Sudeikis, formerly of "Saturday Night Live", played the trooper carrying the yodaling in the satchel. Most of the stormtrooper extras used in the finale were from the 501st Legion, a fan organization of Star Wars devotees who craft screen-accurate costumes and gather together for charity functions. The producers summoned them without informing them of the nature of the function for which they were to assemble and, upon arrival, they were shocked to realize they were going to be part of an actual Star Wars film production! We learn Mando's name is Din Djarin and why he hates droids. Droids wiped out his people! IG-11 turned it around for him, though. We also learn Cara's name is Carasynthia Dune! The sigil on the pauldron of the Mandalorian who rescued young Din revealed he belonged to DEATH WATCH, a sect of fundamentalist Mandalorians that feature very prominently in the animated "Clone Wars"! The sigil Din receives on his pauldron is that of the Mudhorn, the animal he slew in Episode 2. The mysterious armorer and lore master played by Emily Swallow proved to be a fan favorite! I love how she smelted a stormtrooper! The pendant Din bequeathed to the yodaling is the skull of a MYTHOSAUR sculpted in metal. It is the symbol of Mandalorian culture. When the original non-human species of Mandalorians called Taung settled on Mandalore millennia ago, the planet was inhabited by huge dinosaur-like beasts called Mythosaurs. They were hunted to extinction by the Mandalorian colonizers in their effort to tame the wild planet. They saw their struggle against the Mythosaurs as the crucible that put their creed to the test and they emerged victorious. Thereafter, the skull of the creature became the Mandalorian emblem. The big Easter Egg in this episode is the DARKSABER! The Darksaber is a unique black lightsaber introduced in the animated "Clone Wars". Originally, the only Mandalorian Jedi in history named Tarre Vizsla built it but it was stolen from the Jedi Temple millennia ago when the Old Republic fell during one of the Jedi-Mandalorian wars. The Mandalorians have fought with and against both the Jedi and the Sith throughout history. The Darksaber goes through several owners over the course of the "Clone Wars" and "Rebels" series but how Gideon got his hands on it is unknown. It is a treasured heirloom of the Mandalorian culture and wielded by the RULER OF MANDALORE. Taika Waititi, the voice of IG-11 and the director of "Thor: Ragnarok", helmed the finale. To prep for Season 2, I highly recommend you start watching "Clone Wars". The animated Filoni-verse is the wellspring from which "The Mandalorian" derives inspiration. WATCH IT CHRONOLOGICALLY! To begin, you need to see Season 2, Episode 16, "Cat and Mouse", Season 1, Episode 16, "Hidden Enemy" and the "Clone Wars" 2008 animated movie to familiarize yourself with AHSOKA TANO! Unfamiliarity with anything WILL NOT SPOIL the experience of "The Mandalorian" Season 2 but knowledge of certain things will enhance your experience greatly!

That "weapon" was a massive, shocking reveal. I won't tell you its name or what it is, but it's deeply connected to The Clone Wars (the animated show that Dave Filoni created with George Lucas) and just seeing it here in this series opens up for so many possibilities when it comes to including fan-favorite characters from that show. Season 2 especially gets exponentially better if you've watched The Clone Wars.

I am so glad you like this show. I watched it for the first time about a year ago and fell in love. Din is one of my favorite Star Wars characters and I got into Star Wars because of this show. I can't wait to see more of your reactions for Season 2. :D

I'm sure others have posted this: The Mandalorians who rescued him as a child bear the colors of Death Watch, which is a faction we see a good deal about in the Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows. The Dark Saber is a unique light-saber that was created by a Manadalorian who had become a Jedi. This also comes up in many episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels as well. It is a SIGNIFICANT item in Mandalorian culture. Moff Gideon was never a Mandalorian. I tried to be as non-spoilery as possible for this comment.

This series brought back my love for Star Wars after Disney destroyed it temporarily. Season 2 is even better, as hard as that is to believe.

People are sooo into it! They cosplay Wookiee’s and mando’s and maul and just about everything you can think of lol people make life soze remote control r2d2’s that are super realistic! Sooooooo much merch!! 👀💯🥴 lmao and they showed exclusive trailers for Mando season 3 as well as a teaser trailer for Ahsoka where it’s literally the end scene of Rebels.. lol Dave Filoni’s animated project.. which if you’ve ever watched king of the hill.. early seasons of sponge bob .. all of avatar the last airbender .. and clone wars the show him and George Lucas literally sat in a room together for 12 years making 160 hours of content 😅 lmao get past season 2-3 ish and it’s some of the best animation you’ll ever see.. but yeah Dave’s the guy at Star Wars.. literally sat right next to the creator of the franchise for a little over a decade!

Rogue One is based on the Opening Crawl of A New Hope. and ends shortly before the 1977 film begins. Sadly Solo and the sequel trilogy bastardize the legacy of the franchize. It has Lando grieving at the loss of his Droid, because he can't bang his robot anymore and the aequels get cringier than that.
