Ahsoka is such a beloved character, not because she was Anakin’s apprentice, but with what she goes through in Clone Wars and Rebels. You’ll also see Bo-Katan, Thrawn and other characters that could turn up in The Mandalorian.
You HAVE to see The rest of the CloneWars. Last threee seasons are epic. Season 7 blew my mind at the end. And Allso SW Rebels. Ahsoka are there as well :)

Rosario Dawson played her SO well. I've seen all of The Clone Wars and Rebels animated show where he character was introduced and grew up. We last saw her character in Rebels which was slightly before The Mandalorian. She is one of the best characters in all of Star Wars. Hated when she was first introduced, but beloved by most everyone, now. My youngest daughter Mathilda is a HUGE Ahsoka Tano fan. She helped me see how wonderful her character is (representation matters). Loved the setting. The forest planet. Desolation...what the Empire does. Rapes planets for their resources, like the Magistrate. The actor who played the Magistate (Morgan Elsbeth) is none other than Bruce Lee's daughter, Diana Lee Inosanto. Also, the day it aired would've been the birthday of Bruce Lee. Cool connection. Loved the cultural significance.🏯 Loved the love shown to Akira Kurosawa...with the Samurai influences in the town and people. And also the Western motifs, too. Awesome. Loved the music & soundtrack. Wow, the music also drove the plot and tension...really amazing. I love Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, so the music was haunting like what Vangelis did in the first film (and they followed in the second film). Loved the action. They did the fight scenes so well. Rosario Dawson did the Jedi fighting amazingly. Michael Beihn (of the Terminator and Aliens films) was a great addition. Sad that he was a ONE off. Oh, well...shouldn't have reached... The fight coordinator this second season of The Mandalorian is the awesome Sam Hargrave (who recently directed Extraction with Chris Hemsworth (Thor himself) on Netflix. You should check it out. It was his directorial debut. Loved the story. Especially since Ahsoka has seen how destructive attachments can be to a Jedi Knight (her master, Anakin...who turned to the Dark Side because of his attachments to his mother Shmi and his wife Padme...she wouldn't teach Grogu (gonna have to get used to that name, now). You're right, it will take time. Loved the name of #TheChild. Has closed one mystery, while his childhood at the Temple on Corescant brings to mind many more questions. Could Yoda and Yaddle have gotten together...to make "Baby Yoda", literally? Who were these other Masters who trained him? Who took him? Who lost him? Where has he been, since that time we meet him in the first episode of Season 1? What if...the Jedi that shows up is Cal from Jedi Fallen Order (a recent first person game, with motion capture of Cameron Monahan...who is a great actor from the TV series Shamelss)? That would be really cool. If it is Sebastian Stan takes the role of middle aged Luke Skywalker...then I'm going to feel really bad...about the future Grogu...since if Luke trains him...then Ben may have killed him when he destroyed the Academy that Luke started (post Return if the Jedi to pre The Force Awakens). It would be like being introduced to someone at the time of Rogue One (right before A New Hope)...moving to Aldaraan (before the planet is destroyed). No, don't do that! It could be Ezra Bridger (character from Star Wars: Rebels animated series). He's a Jedi...and actually the most logical choice. I want Cal to be the ONE that comes to train Grogu. Grand Admiral Thrawn (name drop) is a very good character first introduced in the books before Disney bought LucasFilm (Heir to the Empire trilogy...which now may be coming back...very interesting). Five really good books by Timothy Zahn. His books have been demoted to Legends status, but he has written a new trilogy and started a new trilogy if stories that are deemed Canon (first book has been released). He also was introduced into Canon in Star Wars: Rebels. He's a great tactician. He's also blue with red eyes, being of the Chiss race. Tython is a planet where on of the first Jedi Temples is located. The planet and the moons are representative of the Force. Lots of history. Look up on Wookipedia to learn more (if interesest). It has been represented in the Doctor Aphra comics and I believe in one of the Star Wars games. Never feel bad about not knowing everything. There isn't any Gatekeeping to be a fan. I'm glad you are doing this. Really enjoyed your insights.
I loved that we had "Kill Bill" inside the walls, and "Tombstone" outside the walls. The line "I have no quarrel with you..." was straight out of "Tombstone". I would have lost my mind if Mando replied "I'm your huckleberry." (maybe in the outtakes???). Great shout out to Jesse! That was a great piece. Very sweet.... from BOTH of you. The Magistrate is played by Diane Lee Inosanto who is the goddaughter of Bruce Lee. Her father was a friend and trained with Bruce. She is a martial artist in her own right and helped train Rosario Dawson for her role as Ahsoka. It s her debut acting role, previously she was a stunt woman and fight co-ordinator, and aired on her godfathers birthday.
Her story is told through more than the Clone Wars movie, the Clone Wars series is where her story is mostly at, continued in Rebels. She's one of the more beloved characters in Star Wars. There's also so much history for the Mandalorian society itself in both Clone Wars and Rebels, it's worthy investment in time.
Thanks for referencing Michael Biehn's movie triumvirate - casual fans sometimes don't know or forget about Hicks & Ringo in addition to Reese. I also wished he didn't just have a 1 episode cameo. Perfectly placed Yoda laugh, ha. Great job as usual with the edits including clip/graphic inserts throughout the discussion, can't think of another reactor who does that consistently. I guess someone has not been watching Kazzy for a long time. She has told us she has only seen 8 of the movies. This is her diving into the lore. I for one am impressed with her commitment to even watch the 38% rotten tomatoes clone wars movie to just make an effort to understand the lore. I'm excited to see how Thrawn is introduced to live action as I'm only familiar with him on bookcovers. At any rate we should lose the snark and applaud Kazzy being a conduit for all of us to understand and further appreciate Star Wars.
@@jdolan74 Just don't watch the clone wars movie, watch the series instead. You could also just look up Ahsoka & darksaber episodes in the clone wars and only watch those. But the whole series is pretty good and has some amazing lore. If you wanna know about Thrawn, watch rebels. Also a pretty good animated tv show.

Star War lore has shown time and time again that whenever a Jedi and a Mandalorian team up and work together to fight a common enemy they make a near unbeatable team
Thrawn originally comes from Star Wars Legends (as far as I know) and plays an important part in the Rebels show, which I really recommend you to watch, together with the Clone Wars show (and CW first). Both shows also give a lot more insight about the Mandalorians and their culture. Also, Ahsoka's head-tails and head-horns/Montrals in this episode are a bit short for her age and shorter than at the end of the animated shows, but they probably couldn't make them bigger, because of practical reasons, I guess. The rest of her looks is pretty accurate, though (IMO).

I highly recommend the Thrawn Trilogy of Novels by Timothy Zahn the original trilogy starting with Heir to the Empire take place after Return of the Jedi basically the original sequel trilogy released in 1992 unfortunately these are no longer canon. The second trilogy I also highly recommend also written by Timothy Zahn these are canon and introduced him back into canon in 2016 (along with Rebels) taking place before A New Hope acting as an origins story. Heir to the empire will give you an idea of where this story may lead or in general just give you an idea of how they could use elements from his books and somehow add them into the Mandalorian in their own way of course I adore the novels but I don’t want Mando to just straight up copy the books.
@@derekl2882 that’s true but it’s fun to see how post Return of the Jedi was the factions, characters, and conflicts in legends maybe we’ll start to see some parallels. But yeah canon experience 2017 Thrawn novels + Rebels is the way to go.

Seeing Ashoka, an last time Bo katana, played by Katee Sackhoff (Battle star Galactica, aka. starbuck) who voiced Bo katana in the Clone wars. An it would be a good idea to watch Rebels also like you did clone wars, it will set up what you need to know coming into Mandalorian, it will make things easier to follow, just saying. Woman who plays the evil Magistrate is Bruce Lee's goddaughter, Diana Lee Inosanto. Her father, Daniel Inosanto trained with Bruce. Last Friday when this episode dropped would have been Bruce Lee's 80th Birthday. It is reported that Diana helped Rosario in the fight choregraph for that scene. Like her father, she choregraphs fight scenes. Her father, Daniel is still living at 84. He and his close friend, Bruce has a famous fight scene from 1972's Game of Death (Bruce's last movie role). When I seen Michael (Magistrate's #1) and Pedro (Din) standoff reminds of Michael (Johnny Ringo) and Val Kilmer (Doc Holliday) of 1993's Tombstone. Doc stated, "I am your Huckleberry!"

Expect to see her again ..There's a lot of story behind her and what she is, So complicated and explains a lot of things... you learn more about her in Rebels Animated... and in clone wars Morai Was added as a Easter egg Right at the end of the last seconds of the series...Because it just came out in May... The funny thing about the character you've known who she is the whole time when its linked with a Character from clonewars... Where is Grand Admiral Thrawn is another Character from Rebels Animated series and some books ,,, Huge name drop ... she basically can't be his Master the main reason she turns grogu away ,, I guess you need to just watch clone wars and rebels to find out ,,, I refuse to spoil it for you
Diana Lee Inosanto, who played the governor, is the daughter of Dan Inosanto, a protege and co-star of Bruce Lee. No wonder she did well as a character who could go up against Ahsoka.

As thrilling as it was to see Ahsoka in the flesh, this chapter ends with a secondary BOMBSHELL! Here's some helpful information: Director Dave Filoni wastes no time and presents us live-action AHSOKA TANO embodied to perfection by Rosario Dawson! Dawson is a phenomenal actress and major Hollywood star known for gritty indies, popular comedies, mainstream thrillers, social-realist dramas and roles in major comic book franchises including Marvel as the Night Nurse, DC as animated Wonder Woman, "Men in Black II" as Agent Vasquez and "Sin City" as Gail! Compassionate but guarded, deadly but just, wounded but hopeful, cagey but collaborative; fans couldn't have asked for a better translation. Her stunt work and blade work were on point and she even nailed the sly over the shoulder look straight from the cartoon. In a perfect world, her head-tails would be closer to Shaak Ti-length but, if they tried that, it probably proved problematic and they opted for shorter. She is shown wielding two white lightsabers as in "Rebels". In the "Ahsoka" novel set one year after "Revenge of the Sith", she battles an Inquisitor who is armed with a dual-bladed lightsaber and kills him. The yodaling's name is GROGU! We learn he was raised at the Temple, was a contemporary of Anakin's, was rescued by an unnamed person, has a memory gap, has knowingly suppressed his powers to hide and is deeply attached to Din! One of the few people left alive who can, Ahsoka likens Grogu to Yoda. Ahsoka refers painfully to Anakin when she refuses to train a being with attachment issues. In "Rebels", she confronted her former Master as Darth Vader, after all. The street animal that looks like a round cat is called a TOOKA. One was at the tavern on the farming planet Sorgan last season. TWO CLIMAXES: a Western showdown between Lang and Din and an Eastern duel between Elsbeth and Ahsoka! In a Filoni double-whammy, Ahsoka seeks the location of GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN!!!! Author Timothy Zahn's brilliant Imperial strategist, the alien Chiss officer with the striking blue skin and red eyes last seen in "Rebels", will likely be the next Star Wars icon transitioning to live-action at long last! The samaritan who saved Din's life played by Wing Tao Chao reassumes the mantle of Governor much to the relief of the villagers. Ahsoka gifts Din the beskar spear and tasks him with a new quest. TYTHON is an ancient Deep Core world strong in the Force where the first Jedi Order known as Je'daii was formed. The planet has two moons one of which, Ashla, is bathed in perpetual light while the other, Bogan, is shrouded in darkness. Nine Temples were erected and the Force adepts studied at each honing their skills. The Je'daii were perfectly balanced between the Light and the Dark until an intrusion from the outside disrupted the symmetry leading to a bloody schism. This was all Legends lore that is now being made canonical again it seems. Reaching out to other Jedi? Is a Luke cameo in the works?

Morgan Elsbeth is a completely new character, I think, but shes played by Diana Lee Inosanto, shes a martial artist who's father was a best friend and student of Bruce Lee. I mean who better to take on Ahsoka Tano than Bruce Lee's real life goddaughter! Come to think of it, any Bruce Lee movie reactions would also be welcome sight if you're into that kind of genre. 😏

Great reaction! My reaction to Michael Biehn was nearly the same like yours (love this actor so much). If you are not so sure about to watch the whole Clone Wars series aka The Rise Of Ahsoka Tano ;) ... Maybe you should watch only the final four episodes of the final season 7. Here Ahsoka is already a little bit older than in the movie. These epsidoes are like a second Clone Wars movie (but much better) with a awesome final.

Its nice that you watched at least Ahsoka's introduction before this. If you don't want to watch Clone Wars and Rebels in full if you at least watch some essential episodes (there are some good lists out there) to watch.

The fact that they mentioned Tython is insane. The old republic is an era of the star wars universe (several games, books and comics) taking place 25 000 years before the movies. In the old republic Tython was believed to be the planet where the jedi first appeared. However, the new movies removed it from the canon. Looks like the old republic is no longer not-cannon! Hyped!
Just to clarify, you may have already figured this out. But, when people suggest you watch the Clone Wars, they are talking about the SEVEN SEASONS of the show The Clone Wars, not just the movie. Ahsoka has one of the most developed and moving story arcs of literally any Star Wars character.
Yeah but no one expected her to watch 7 seasons of television. The fact that she even watched the Clone Wars is impressive to me. Also she did a poll for what show she should watch next and Clone wars was on that poll. She is clearly planning to watch the show but chose to watch the movie first to just see Ahsoka Tano being introduced for the first time.

I'm sure 500 other dorks like me already said this, the Mandy's are renowned jedi killers the Mandy's damn near took over the galaxy the last time they were united and destroyed hundreds of worlds and killed even more jedi. Mando armor is made to fight force users, the jet pack is so they can maintain distance, grapple cord to bind and tie up/ used to bring items back to you "think force pull and hold" repulsor gauntlets to use science made force push lol and flame throwers because it's real hard for basic force users to stop it. Hell even beskar can just eat lightsaber strikes
Star Wars is so iconic that just about any actor who gets asked to be a part of Star Wars won't turn it down. It's doubtful Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks would turn down a part in Star Wars. Everyone wants to be in Star Wars.

What you really need to watch are the last 4 episodes of the final Season of The Clone Wars (Season 7, Episodes 9-12) series. There, you will really get a clear picture of why Ahsoka is the way she appears here, in The Mandalorian.
This was the best episode of the entire series so far. It felt like one of the best representations of ALL of Star Wars so far and even showed homage to one of Lucas’ primary influences to the original: Kurosawa. And Grogu..? Need we say more?! Lol
The actress who plays Ashoka is Rosario Dawson and the actress who plays the magistrate is Diana Lee Inosanto, Bruce Lee's granddaughter. And yes that is Michael Biehn.
Going to repeat what so many other say here. I know it is a daunting task considering how much there is, but it is really worth it to watch the Clone Wars animated series. Although since you have seen the movie, probably start at Season 3 so you avoid the kid-stuff that the series was for the first 2 seasons. Then of course there is Rebels and then you will know about Grand Animal Thrawn. 8 seasons worth of shows but... at least it is all on Disney+!

It’s already five years after the Empire fell. Ashoka could just direct him to bring Grogu to the New Repubic, and they can direct him to Luke’s Jedi academy. Just my 2 cents!
I'm zo glad you watched the Clone Wars movie, but you really should also watch The Clone Wars animated series which is excellent, in order to fully appreciate Ahsoka's journey & her relationship with Anakin Skywalker.
If you want to bypass the entire Clone Wars series, you should watch the last 4 eps of Season 7 that just releases on Disney +. That will catch you up!
Great reaction, but did you watch the series of The Clone Wars or just the movie? The movie is pretty bad compared to the majority of episodes, so if you liked it you really need to see the series in chronological order. It's going to be esential to fully undertand The Mandalorian. So you know what to do before the 3rd season comes out. And even without The Mandalorian, it's an excellent product on it's own.
