I enjoy well designed and varied side quests with their own style and quirks (like Witcher 3 did well with the slavic lore and mythology)... suffice to say I've loved season 3 so far. :)
This 100% felt like an episode George Lucas would''ve created for The Clone Wars just pure wackiness and strange almost feeling like an episode of Doctor Who or a scene from a Judge Dredd comic, yes Judge Dredd universe of 2000AD is extremally wacky and silly in the comics while also being gritty and brutal. The Droids story arc from Clone Wars is a fav of Lucas so his taste is pretty interesting and not one a lot of Star Wars fans share with how many people dislike the Droids arc. So naturally this episode has gotten alot of hate online for being too outlandish to an argument I do agree on being a little too filler when we only have two episodes left. I personally would've preferred this episode very on in a season with 10+ episodes so there's room for more fun filler stuff so hopefully the final episodes are good.
@@lucasmorgan4379es it is 100% going to a foreign planet having to stop a separatist sympathizer and battle droids ending in a fight between used to be friends turn foes 100% clone wars
Thank God for Courtney!!! She at least recognized Lizzo !! I was so surprised that none of you mentioned her in the palace scene! Another great recap for an amazing show! This is the way! Excelsior! Heff
Season 3 isn’t perfect but it’s still pure Star Wars. Seems like most ppl wanted a Mando and baby yoga storyline so that’s why ppl are mixed on this season. Excited for season 4 tho 💯💯💯
These days, there isn’t a perfect movie/show. The mind canon in peoples’ heads prevents them from enjoying good content. Star Wars HAS to be what they WANT Star Wars to be. Weekly mandalorian content isn’t enough. Delving into the wider universe of Star Wars is just “boring, filler” content. Personally, I’m loving this season as it’s not just about Din & Grogu but more Mandalorians. The Easter eggs. Showing the flaws of the New Republic. The variety of settings among episodes.
the (varied perceptions are indeed always valid) headcanon related 'expectation' response that was commented (precisely sums up .the lure 0R otherwise. *-* regarding repeat visits to that 3M (+) online SW option)
I just wanted a storyline. This season has been all over the place. Don't get me wrong I like all the episodes. But as a season there seems to be no direction.
@@TheBongReyes the mind Canon isn't the issue, we just want them to focus on the main story, them reclaiming mandalore and whatever happened to moff gedion. This episode should have happened earlier in the season. Idk I just hate unessecary distractions in general including life.
He waited to give it to her to make sure she was really worthy of it. He likely would have kept it had not the Armorer not endorsed Bo-Katan. And run the risk that his clan would be under her rule.
I am surprised that you didn't mention Lizzo was in the episode. The Mon Calamari prince from the Clone Wars died around roughly 18 BBY, this is a different prince.
@CinePals, 21:19 Well, the story isn't yet finished and we probably aren't supposed to know that just yet, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. That said, this story showed us two people bounding, two people who will likely lead Mandalore together; Din and Bo-Katan are two sides of the same coin them coming together is just more symbolism of Mandalore finally coming together after since before it fracture sometime during the Clone Wars, nearly 50 years ago. Personally I think this episode really showed two people with very different experiences with droids. Do you remember Din's childhood? His parents were killed by droids. He hated droids, until IG11 saved his life, and even after that he was still a bit skittish around them and we saw that here when they arrived on the planet. Bo-Katan used droids on Mandalore and in her palace, remember? She didn't have anything against droids in general, but the ones the separatist used against her and Mandalore, however, are a different story. She played good cop in this story because of her past experience with droids, and Din played bad cop because of his past experience with them, IMHO. This episode is also growing the Star Wars universe that we will see elsewhere, so a good chunk of this is setup for things to come down the road in Bad Batch, Ahsoka's show or some other unannounced future project. I'd stay focused on the Mandalorian parts as that's present. Din and Bo-Katan are together. Bo-Katan has made piece with Children of the Watch and she's earned the respect of the forces she lost. She's pulling everyone together as the Armor said she would. The question is, will she also bring Boba Fett into the fold? He didn't seem too pleased with how things turned out on Tatooine. Ruling as he is now, just might not be his thing.
By the way, the Mon Calamari Prince was played by Harry Holland. Tom Holland's brother. And it is a different Prince. Prince Lee Char died shortly after the Battle of Yavin.
@@vetrais7965Is that new canon then? Cause I know I saw a comic that involved Leia where he died and it was a pretty horrible death. Was that legends and then the canon of his death changed cause of Disney? Sometimes it's hard to remember what was legends canon and Disney canon.
@Margaret Connor yeah looks like my date of death is legends status now. And like you said, so hard to keep track of it all...especially since legends are becoming canon again as they borrow more from it.
@@vetrais7965 Right? Like Legends was a great a beloved canon. They've should've kept it instead of throwing it all out and then putting some of it back in, it just makes it so confusing.
I said it before when Bo-Katan saved Din and I’ll say it again, ALL HAIL QUEEN BO-KATAN KRYZE!!!! She needed to fall out of favor with her fleet because she needed to go back to her roots on Mandalore as well as spend time with the Children Of The Watch to completely rethink what it means to truly be Mandalorian. The Armorer was very wise when she said that Bo-Katan can walk both worlds, she can TRULY unite her people and finally take back their homeworld. And Lizzo was great, but freaking JACK BLACK and CHRISTOPHER LLOYD! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯These men were such a massive part of my childhood. Also I’m 100% for droid rights!
@@osoperezoso7732 We? Who's "we"? I love Din (Mando) just like you, but there are other important characters that need shine too. It ain't just about Din and Grogu.
An interesting cocktail of an episode. One part _CSI: Mandalorian (complete with guest stars),_ one part _I Robot,_ one part "Challenging the Chief" trope... topped off with a sprinkle of fun bits; star-crossed lovers of Mon Cala, "Dooku was right," Grogu gets a cuddle, and a Kuiil call-back. We are now set up for a two-chapter season finale.
First the Beskar Spear and now the Darksaber; Mando Now Really needs a new Melee Weapon. {Here's to hoping when he joined back up with the covert, the Armorer restocked him with new whistling birds}. Or at least a new melee weapon along with/besides his Vibro-knife.
Everything is so convenient in Season 3: Remember that conflict between the creed and regular mandalorians. Well now their lead doesnt care if Bo wears a helmet. Remember BO needing the Darksaber and the tension between them?? Psych! She saved him so its hers again. No muss, no fuss
Oh, I think there is a major fuss coming down the line and it might even involve the new republic since they now know Bo's Mandalorians extracted Moff Gideon. Their actions could even bring about a conflict with the Children of the Watch who have a grudge to settle with the Moff.
There's some amazing cameos in this episode. Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd, and even the RX-series droids from the old version of the Star Tours ride at the Disney resorts? Geez, my childhood's rushing back again.
A fun, Clone Wars-esque Chapter. I loved the Special FX (the colors of this planet are brilliant) and the world-building. I'm guessing this is -- yet again -- a planet in The Outer Rim? I wonder if this planet and its history will get mentioned and/or depicted in the time of The High Republic? As usual, Bryce Dallas Howard directs a cool, relevant episode (still hope to see her direct another episode featuring Cara Dune, played by Gina Carano). So, Din and Bo-Katan have both been bestowed a most-respected planetary gift; while Grogu, age 52, has been appointed the title, Knight Of The Ancient Order Of Independent Regencies? Cool. The accolades are mounting. When Grogu Djarin is in his 80s and up, between being The Son Of Mand'alor and The Second Mandalorian Jedi Knight, he's going to have quite the royal, military, and chronicler resume/pedigree. I'm sure and certain, by Season 4, this planet will be part of a group of allies to Din, Bo, and their galactic friends. Hope to see Jack Black and Lizzo in further episodes (both live-action and Animated). Wonder if Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew (and The Bad Batch, for that matter) will venture to this star system in their respective (paralleled, interweaving) narratives? Great reaction, CinePals. This Is The Way. May The Force Be With You...
Jon Favreau really made a $15M live-action Clone Wars episode featuring Jack Black, Lizzo, Christopher Lloyd, and EPCOT Center 😂. If I were Grogu or Din, I'd be calling my agent today.
I really hope din and Bo get together.❤❤ They have very nice chemistry. Edit: they should loose din's helmet for a episode so din and Bo can have more eye to eye contact to increase intimacy and tention b/w them.❤
@@tadeoteran1372 I think Bo should have a near death experience and din jump in between to save her and nearly dies himself.that should set up their arc as a couple quite nicely ❤️
When Bo saved Din, I had thought he would give it to her already. Just realized after watching this that this way was better, how it should have been. Truly, this is the way.
After Bo-Katans deep conviction that the Darksaber had to be won in a propper battle it was really weak writing to give her the saber over a technicality. But now that Bo and Din have bekomme such buddys the writers didnt want them to fight. A more clever way would have been, now that even the religious Mandos (The helmet people) are open for new ways, that they agree with the mercenary Mandos that the Mandaloren Leader gets elected or something and the dark saber is just a things that belongs to the elected leader. No Battle required.
People who call a show filler when they don't like something about said show. People said rogue one wasn't the star wars they knew when it first came out, that it was two dark and those same people loved andor for it's serious tone. So I understand why the writer just do what they feel is best and ignore those fans who have to complain about everything. There's to much fan service in star wars? There's always been!
Do you really want to see Bo and DIn throw down? I mean, don't we like both of them? Not really looking to see a heel turn from either of them... And more importantly, we're seeing the evolution of the Mandalorians here. Where they stop fighting inter-tribally and present a united front against outside enemies. That's what Bo (and i think the Armourer) are striving for at this point...
This episode reminded me that Star Wars is also meant for kids, and at first I was averse to this. Then I kind of just settled into it and remembered that different worlds can encompass different forms of story telling. Not everything has to be so serious.
Bo-Katan did not win the dark saber in “combat”. This elder wand rationalization in an attempt to justify her having it back to lead their people is beyond me. We didn’t even get to see Mando practicing again or learning to wield it better, it’s such a disappointment.
@@DerekHartley so what you’re implying is that Bo-Katan has been successfully wielding the dark saber since the very first minute she held it without practice?
@@DerekHartley Again this isn’t her first time wielding the dark saber. I never watched Rebels, but apparently Bo-Katan had the dark saber for an unspecified amount of time before Moff Gideon, implying she’s had time and guidance to learn to wield it with ease. Your reasoning for why she deserves the dark saber is flimsy, and the shows’ rationalization for why she should have it now is ridiculous. It’s pretty straight forward - You win the dark saber in combat, she didn’t.
Anyone who likes this should look into Isaac Asimov. About 50 years ago, he wrote about a civilization that became absolutely dependent on their robots. The entire civilization was focused on art, science and pursuit of enlightenment, while the droids took care of every possible mundane task - farming, transportation, public safety, etc. I really wonder if the writer(s) of this episode are Asimov fans.
This episode started off good but kinda shifted into sub par material.. The Droids weren't threatening at all and it felt like a video game.. I agree that Din and Bo should've fought or at least have the Armorer piece together how she qualified... It didn't piece in that well.. Looking forward to the next episode tho
Honestly, I didn’t mind this episode for being a fun little side quest. The only cameo that I found stupid was Lizzo. I’m sure she’s a great talent, but man she can’t act holy moly.
It was good to see Bo Katan team again along with Sasha Banks and Jack Black in this episode. I surprised that you guys didn't recognize Grammy award-winning music artists Lizzo alongside Jack.
Mando didn't lose a fight,he was trapped and never threw one blow. This was a lame way to pass along the saber even, hell it shouldn't have happened altogether. This is the Mandalorian and so far he's taken a back seat for majority of the show. 🤦🏾♂️
I HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST WITH THIS EPISODE! One of my favorite episodes in the series. Not my top 3 but it’s up there. It reminded me of a really great Doctor Who episode. I understand some of the criticisms of the season overall not quite having some impactful important overarching plot in the same way the first 2 seasons had…and I can understand being taken out of the episode because of the amount of cameos (though I didn’t have that problem). BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE BEING EXTREMELY GROSS AND MEAN ABOUT THIS EPISODE. Calling Lizzo and Jack Black names and blaming them for everything you hate about Disney Star Wars is not constructive criticism. It’s being rude and gross. I would rate this episode probably a solid 8.5 out of 10…but because people are review bombing the episode and putting all blame on Lizzo I went out of my way to rate the episode a 10 out of 10 lol. Though my one rating won’t counteract everyone in the small very loud/ vocal group of angry neckbeards.
Season 1 was about Mando and Grogu relationship, Season 2 about getting Grogu to a Jedi and also fighting Moff Gideon, Where as Season 3 seems to be all over the place. Still mostly enjoyable episodes, but there's just no direction really.
Well, then you haven't been paying attention. Didn't you see a mythical beast at the end of episode 2 or didn't you hear the armourer talk about taking back Mandalore. Didn't you see that the new republic knows now that mandalorians sabortaged Moff Gideon's transportation to trial. I think it is obvious where the season is going - Mandalore vs the New Republic. This could mean Moff Gideon could see an opportunity to take over. We are looking at the beginning of the cold war between new republic and the first order.
@@kennetherhabor5543 Yes there is taking back the Mandalore main plot, but it is progressing so much in the background that it can't even be called the main plot at this point, rather each episode just has it's own plot.
@@PalpatinesPlumber I think it is because this show is doing a lot of heavy lifting for the Star Wars Universe at the moment trying to bridge the events between episode 7 and the disney trilogies. Trying to focus of Mandalorians while giving us early signs of the first order and also showing how laissez-faire the new republic was and how imperials were able to clone Palpatine even if they had already started working on it in the bad batch. All this while also trying to entertain with side quests and filler episodes. There are too many unanswered questions, at least for the casual star wars viewer. So the show seems like it all over the place at the moment. But it would get there eventually.
@@PeverellTheThird OR, the more obvious answer that the demographic of Lizzo fans has very little overlap with the demographic of people who make Star Wars reactions videos.
My first time watching a vid from "Cinepals", so I'm sure she's heard this dozens of times before, but Cortney talks, laughs and even looks a little like Regina King! And I'm not a fan of Lizzo, so I didn't recognize her at all. Didn't know it was her until I saw her name in the credits. Great video, Pals.
THANKS for this! And great fixing-a-problem editing job, by the way! Um, well, now I understand your crickets on Lizzo! LOL! I'm *55* and *even I* know who Lizzo is! You guys should be ashamed! LOL! Anyway, she is trying to sound like Queen Amidala :), and It's okay in this seemingly-lost "Clone Wars" script, baby! LOL! Lizzo, Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd took me out of this one. I'm glad you guys liked it much more than I did, but how many people reading this would have rather had the first five ("Doctor Who"-ish) minutes and last 10 minutes be a whole episode? (Raises hands :) ).
All kinds of good stuff in this wonderful bouillabaisse: an alien love affair, the Lizzo & Jack Black love affair, Mando's "love/hate" affair with droids, Bo's love affair with her fleet and people... so many forms of love on display! Great cameos. And it's clear that "Sir Grogu" has a real thing for the women! Well... and his Dad too. An excellent episode.
Sorry guys, prince lee char ain’t around no more. I won’t spoil how, but it’s in the comics. The clone wars were a bit more than 30 years ago at this point on the timeline…
disney are just adding more and more people who want to be in star wars.... I love jack black, as a singer, comedian and as an actor, but I did not think he fit, like he was just there because of his status and wanted to be in a star wars something
I haven't seen anyone point out that this plot was basically the same as Zootopia, the Incredibles 2, and even G-Force...super predictable, but made weirder with some trying to make the droids more human-like.
Bo-katen still don't deserve darksader because If I trap saber wilder in a cage and then saves him from it by killing a one weak one eye creature then this don't mean I deserve darksader Just think if grogu free the mando with force and then took darksader

if sombody (who owns teh saber) gets atack behind and its not a respectfull duel, cant lose the saber. so dont talk shit. The duel have a method, and u have to follow it so to be real Bo Katan shoud give back the saber in the next episods to Mando. Mando lost all what he builded up in 2 seazons.
For real. If she's so freaking "worthy" just have a duel already, should be barely an inconvenience to best Din. They just keep picking the dumbest reasons for stuff to happen without stopping to ask if it makes any sense.
this is like mass effect, the side quests are more interesting and longer but it doesn't progress the main story. Then when you go to the main story, it is too easy from the all the exp you get on the side quests.
Those clone droids from the clone wars! Saying "Roger, Roger" many times is just annoying. Those things are very annoying! Glad Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd are in this episode.

I loved episode 6 definitely top 5 of the entire series; it had brilliant and nuanced storytelling and new world-building; we saw interspecies and inter-class relationships and the politics complicating them. A new planet where wealthy out of touch folks live; how the republic limits armaments when an ex-imperial is co-ruling. Their open and pluralistic culture and why Bo and Din are uniquely situated to help them. Best part is the droid subculture and their repurposing with Din being untrusting; only to find he can trust them, it's the humans, again, that are problem. That droid bartender saying just cause they're droids doesn't mean they don't seek be "alive" and have purpose and be useful was absolutely beautiful; brilliant. Of course; I suspected a portion of the fandom will hate it for the same reasons I think it's brilliant; like episode 3. I was right. Star Wars fandom is frustrating.
It's lame as hell they chickened out on a Dinn vs Bo fight. I know they probably didn't want to turn Clone Wars fans against Mandelorian fans but I think there were clever ways around it, Dinn could lose for plot reasons but still come off looking good.
