In “The Apostate,” we reunite with Mando and Grogu for a new adventure to Mandalore. But first, a few side quests that take the duo back to the Armorer and Greef Karga. Along the way, we learn that a character from The Mandalorian‘s past is making a surprise return. And if that weren’t enough, the season 3 premiere also has quite a few other callbacks that will raise eyebrows, including one or two things from The Clone Wars!

I guess I wasn't surprised with Grogu returning to Din bc there were interviews with Favreau and Pascal after s2 where they both said there would be a time jump the next time we saw The Mandalorian. I was concerned it would be a huge time jump with a lot of changes to Grogu. So I was so very pleased when he returned to Din. And I'm totally on Team Jane with this one! 😂❤❤

It was pretty obvious between s2, the bobf, and season 3, that a minimum of a year went by. Grogu is openly and easily using the force now. Mando and Grogu needed eachother.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I like how Din is now committed to teaching Grogu the Mandalorian way. Grogu hugging Babu Frick was so sweet. This show is pure fun. People way overthink things.

It's called Merch and Ratings. Grogu is the merch selling powerhouse, and the ratings getter for the traditionally non-Star Wars fan, which just so happens to be women. Not saying that no women ever liked/loved Star Wars, but if we're being honest, Star Wars has been more of a dude thing rather than a lady thing. So to bring in a "baby" anything for that matter, it will pull at the heart strings of the motherly instinct of the female audience. For me personally, I don't really care about Grogu. Just not my thing. What I care about the most is Mando and any other strong adult character kicking bad guy ass. Including the Armorer, Bo Katan, or Cara Dune.

Grogu was with Luke for 2 years. I think there may be a comic, novels or other media to showcase that time. Paz Zisla is played by Tait Fletcher who was in Season 1 Episode 1. He was the one that accused Mando of spilling his drink. He is only Voiced by Jon Favreau. The Space Whale are called Purrgil. The Pirate you're thinking about is Davey Jones. The Cara Dune resolution is how they can get rid of Gina Carano, but keep the character. That way she can be featured is comics and novels. The situation Bo-Katan is in, is the making of a Villain.

My thought is that the "two years" was not Jon Favreau's original plan. I think something happened behind the scenes during BoBF which deemed it necessary to use the footage of Luke and Grogu to fill in, which was originally planned for Mando S3.

it is the beginning of the season so there might be some flashback scenes with Luke and Grogu and explain more of the two years of his training.

Grogu does not fear using the force now like he did before training with Luke. Luke gave him the choice. Grogu chose but I think it’ll somehow tie into the Dark Sabre. I’ll bet Grogu will be able to wield the Dark Sabre, in the end.

Team Jane: The quest originally was what was to be done by creed. That was fulfilled. Grogu coming back was by choice. Din was the closest he had to a father. He chose adventure to sitting on rocks meditating.

There's definitely a sign of the passage of time within the show; at least within this episode. Looking at how much Navarro has changed since Din visited in season 2, you get a sense that it's been some time since his last visit. Jon Favreau has clarified his comment to say 2 years have passed since the end of season 2, rather than it being 2 years of Grogu in training. Although it wasn't the smoothest of detours in the Book of Boba Fett when we suddenly switched the Mandalorian 2.5, I don't think it's a problem they did it and it means they don't have to spend time in this season covering that and can just get into setting up this story.

He said the memory circuit is broken....Not memory chip. It's why he reverted back to his old programming. The robot couldn't connect to the memory chip and reverted back to default programming. They should really remove that default programming though just in case the circuit gets damaged again.

I agree with J.V. that I think they should've have shown at least some more training with Luke and Grogu. However, on the other hand, I think that "may" have actually been a bit boring to watch after a while and gotten a bit old or just a repeat of what little stuff we got to see in The Book of Boba Fett, especially given Grugu's small size some of his training may have looked a bit weird. The way I see it, Grogu probably did not need anymore actual "training", but Luke probably just had to unlock all of Grogu's previous training memories and just remind Grogu of what he already learned before. Besides, I could be wrong, but we may not really know exactly how much time passed by between the season 2 finale and when Grogu returned to Mando. We can guess the timeline, but Grogu may have been with Luke for quite a while. I got a feeling we may get some flashbacks this season of Grogu with Luke. I am really surprised, to be honest, that Bo-Katan never mentioned anything yet to Mando about the truth of Deathwatch and who they really were. I always thought, in fact, Mando would've learned last season from either Bo-Katan or Ahsoka, but I was wrong. I still have a feeling he will learn the truth that his upbringing and "rescue" may not be as innocent as he thought.

They botched TBoBF and did not illustrated the passage of time properly. Because if Grogu was training for 2 years with Luke that means he is now at least 54. Also, I don't think we should apply our technology with Star Wars technology. We don't even know where IG-11's memory is stored. When they were assessing the droid, they were looking at his torso, not his head.

In the end it's JF and DF show. If that's how they want to do it "This Is The Way". Too many reactors and fanboys want the SW universe to be how they want it. As far as S2 there were so many discoveries made like Bo-Katan, Ahsoka among so many others that DD's story needed for his growth. Saying S2 was a waste is doing what happened a disservice.

I would think the writers knew that they were a team and that is the whole basis of the Mandalorian storyline, an unlikely family. But they should have made it more evident that some time had past until Grogu was reunited with Mando, like a "TWO YEARS LATER" when they showed the scene with Grogu and Luke training. I did like the Boba Fett series but it was pretty much Mando 2.5. I was thinking that maybe the Mando that got swallowed could be fished out since he is wearing Beskar...but he might have gotten chomped AND I don't think turbo laser blasts would have been survivable...

I'm sure they decided some things after S2 and didn't do the best job adding it into book of boba fett. I think it's fine to make that choice to have grogu with luke for two years, but they should have just maybe added it at the end of book of boba and like say "two years later". I dono. but it's fine. just gotta accept it and move on with the story.

I'm pretty sure he was going to stay with Luke, but Disney heads wanted them to stay together. Javreau had to rewrite the show to include Grogu. And they used three episodes of Boba Fett to set it up. It is NOT normal to have a show with so few episodes as it is and have episodes that completely ignore the title character. There is no way that was the original plan. I bet Jon and Dave had to fight just to put in a respectable reason for Cara Dune's absence. If it was up to Kennedy she'd have died off screen from drowning in Bantha poo.

Meh…Grogu and Mando need each other. I honestly didn’t even care about Boba Fett, that show was the worst of all the Disney+ Star Wars shows. So it doesn’t bother me one bit that Grogu isn’t training with Luke.

IMO the off-camera comment that *Grogu* was with *Luke* for possibly up to two years,¹ is a bunch of BS. You don't get a sense of that passage of time watching the show. Such information must be conveyed in-camera. Were I to play _Devil's Advocate,_ I suppose I could simply point out that in *real life* _things don't always work out._ Having *Grogu* return to *Mando* without a truly compelling reason is poor storytelling. It puts a bit of a damper on the end of season 2. . . But life can be like that sometimes. But that's one reason we watch *Star Wars* - So we don't have to watch *_"Life."_* So, despite ruining a good story (i.e., the quest to get *Grogu* to a Jedi), _these things happen._ 🥱 *EDIT:* With 8 billion people on the planet, we shouldn't expect even a majority of *The Mandalorian* viewers to watch the other shows.
