I think I just worked out why Mandalorian Season 3 felt so stretched out and uneven, with multiple side-quests. It's because Lucasfilm clearly took the first two episodes out to use on the struggling Boba Fett show, and then they never satisfyingly replaced them.

Ryan absolutely outdid himself with this one ! Agreed that it was his best one yet ! The intern is gonna parasite his show SO much going on ! As for Pedro Pascal maybe wanting to leave the show, nothing has been officially confirmed, of course, but if you observe carefully what's happening in real life in his career, it doesn't take a genius to put 2 and 2 together. In the span of 2 years, the man has been in Wonderwoman 84, The Unbearable weight of massive talent (very fun flick with Nicolas Cage), The last of Us, and is now coming out in the last Pedro Almodovar film. The dude is literally EVERYWHERE all at once ! He's basically the male version of Anya Taylor Joy ! After having been in the business for 20+ years, and mostly unsuccesfully, before his stint in Game of Thrones and Narcos, and now this massive trampoline in his career thanks to the Mandalorian, he's now crumbling under so many cool opportunities that it would make sense that he wants to branch out and try many of them (and those were the ones he is actually starring in, we have no ideas how many other scripts he didn't take on are on his desk). So that comes at the cost of leaving the Mandalorian (which is heavily rumored why his stunt doubles under the armor Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder are now finally credited in the end credits), and coming back really just for ADR, which, obviously, didn't allow for him removing his helmet this season, since he just wasn't there. Another big hint of his overall detachment of Star Wars is that at Star Wars Celebration, just a few weeks ago, everybody of the main cast of all the series were there... But Pedro ! I mean... The man who's currently arguably THE FACE (well... The helmet) of Star Wars ... Not at Star Wars biggest yearly annual convention !? Knowing that there won't be one next year !? And Rick Famuyiwa, one of the main directors, while being asked bout the fact that it seems that the show this season is kinda centered more on Bo Katan than Mando, saying in interviews at Celebration that at this point, just about anybody can be THE Mandalorian ? If that doesn't scream "Pedro is out", I don't know what is ! I think one of the main reasons why Jon Favreau had to switch focus from one character to another this season was exactly because of that : Pedro being out, he simply couldn't write the whole show about him as the center character anymore. Which led to all this discourse about how he's not even the main character of his own show anymore. Ps : Celebration fun fact : when Giancarlo Esposito was asked onstage where the hell is Moff Gideon (Celebration happened just right before ep7, where he's revealed for the first time), he replied with a smile : oooh, he's somewhere in the Galaxy, he's definitely cooking something. (Cue the shot in the finale where he gets cooked alive in his armor)

Rather than these side quests episodes they should have given a full episode for a badass character like Bo kataan. That is a female character that has depth, loss etc The actress is also very nice and suits the role. Disney really fumbled it.

Ya I heard Rumors that with how the episode ended and just the overall feel of the season that din going take a bake seat an the show going focus on bo katan and her journey but the fact they added the part of him asking for side gigs for the alliance seems to me that implys a season of fun and grogu doing random jobs similar to the first couple seasons

If they'd broken up the scientist guy's side story into little segments laced throughout the rest of the series right from episode 1, leading up to scary chick's betrayal of him right before she contacts Gideon, it actually might have worked, by showing the two storylines eventually coming together. The same method would have worked to interweave the Mando/Grogu story into BoBF, which would have given it a much better narrative flow. But it's like the writers at Disney don't know how to tell multiple stories at once anymore. Or even Hollywood in general. Stranger Things did the same thing in season 3.

Yea this season definitely had some issues, it didn't really feel like Mando had much to do. A lot of the fighting with the Mandalorins as well seemed slow paced and or clunky. Cept the last couple episodes they were pretty good.

Awesome Pitch Meeting. 😄 Random thoughts: - I actually liked the side quest episode with the Doctor and Comm Officer, other than that I wish it had paid off more in the long run for the arc of the main season. But, just taken on its own, I thought it was kind of interesting seeing how the Republic was trying to reintegrate the Imperial officers into society, and that it was kind of a neat spin on that doctor being someone who genuinely wanted to do good with his research but was coerced to work for the Empire in season 1. So just as a stand alone story, at least, I kind of liked it. 🙂 - Jaby said they should have done the Doctor side story on Andor but wasn't sure about the timing. Just as a reminder, Andor is a prequel to Rogue 1, so everything on that show is happening before the Death Star is built. Mandalorian on the other hand is taking place after the Empire is defeated in Return of the Jedi but before the newer trilogy. - Regarding having to watch other shows to know what's going on, I'm definitely noticing that in Ahsoka, it's constantly referring to things that I think happened in the animated Clone Wars show which I never watched (and really don't have much interest in watching). I get the gyst of what's going on, but it's kind of disconcerting sometimes.

That's correct; he's said that numerous times in recent interviews and he's also stated he wants to be in the armour more when his scheduling allows so with luck, we'll see more of the latter but he can definitely continue playing Din for however long they want.

It was clear that this season focused on the mandalorians as a community and taking back mandalore. I thought atleast they had a focus this season and previous seasons used to be unfocused untill the last episodes when it all came together. One major con was the lack of emotional depth to the story and to din this season, which used to be the main attraction of watching the show. I was personally fine with the changed approach to focus on the mandalorians and mandalore and really enjoyed Bo katan's journey too but they could have made Din feel more important the way they did in the last 2 episodes

Doubles? LOL... They are the real stars of the show. One of them is John Waynes grandson who also adjusted the design of Mandos suit so he was better suited for gunfighting. And the other is Lateef Crowder who is martial artist and did the darksaber stuff... They also had a third double who is a Cirque de Soleil performer who was brought in when Wayne had a serious injury.

I think Disney relied too much on the darksaber and peoples love for grogu in season 3 and it made the series very disjointed and overall I had no investment in it

I actually kinda enjoyed this season. I didn't like the episode with Scientist guy and Jack Black, but I just didn't pay much attention to these episodes. The more I think about it, this season really felt like an actual video game story. Like you could take this Season and make a video game out of it. The pacing really did feel like I was playing Fallout 4. Instead of searching for your baby, you are off doing errands lol. But I don't think it necessarily took away from the entire season for me. I kinda liked the focus on Bo Kotan, her character had depth and she was interesting to follow. I also agree Din felt kinda flat and passive this season to me. I was unaware about him just providing VA and it makes sense now. I hope Season 4 has him more actively involved. Even the moment where he claims Grogu is his son.. It didn't feel as emotional as I thought it would be. It was like just putting a label on something that we already knew. That moment didn't hit for me, at all.

KK had control of the script and basically hijacked Favreau's work and she made decisions about the cameos for this season. Jon wanted 10-12 episodes with more character cameos which included a bad ass Boba Fett but she said no and so now we know why this season seemed so clucky and disjointed, it reminds me of what she did to BoBF and OWK. The good news is she will not have any creative input for Ahsoka and season 4 of The Mandalorian but the bad news is she has complete control of The Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte.

Jon Favreau has talked about why this season became like this. The video is here on RU-vid. Him and DF wanted to take more time. Longer episodes and like 12 or 13 episodes. They had a lot in their mind but Disney pushed and wanted a quick release. That’s what he said. Also Pedro Pascal stated in an interview that he wants to continue as long as this show exists or they want him. Doubtful they will replace him seeing how popular he is. Everyone wants to book him and they have him. They def will give the viewers what they want in season 4. another bad season and they can forget their movie.

it's not him who is maybe leaving the show but Jon Favreau over supposed drama with KK, though this is unconfirmed and comes from inside leaks. As for Mando season 3 they are correct Pedro wasn't on set once and had a stand in for the entire show who is credited. He just lends his voice and is arguably the easiest gig as a actor lmao.

uhhhh, no... Andor takes place years before Rouge One, which was right before A New Hope. Mando season 3 takes place about 6 or 7 years after Return of the Jedi. Incompatible timeframes to a punt a sidestory from Mando to Andor.

This season would have been awesome without grogu and just focus taking mandalor back. Like episode 1 should be having din and boka tan fought for dark saver and just have the conclusion of just joining hands to unite all the clans. Episode 2 is uniting all mandaorian clans all over the galaxy. Episode 3 is invading mandalor planet with at lease 50 mandalorian ships. Episode 4-6 is just taking the planet bit by bit by fighting monstrous beasts across the planet. Episode 7-8 is the main conflict with gidian and the ending should be the mandalorian won the battle but still has a lot way to go to take back their home planet while din and boka tan could become romantically involve with each other then co-lead as the ruler of the mandalor. Season 4 could be at lease 10 yr time jump with a new mandalorian empire and having a new threat by example of having din and boka tan at lease 2 children and some other empire successfully killed one of their children then an open war was declared. Other empires like the new republic would try to involve but the mandalorians were eager for revenge. Now that’s a better plot than what we got.

They didn't really think things through when they planned to make a TV series where the characters had their faces covered. Because watching the characters stand (or sloooowly walk) while someone reads the script in a sound booth gets old pretty fast.

Disney wanted to pay Pedro as a voice actor because 2 other men are actually on set being the character. Pedro eventually got paid as an actor, but there is plenty od drama on the set now that Kathleen kennedy is involved again. Favero also threatened to quit which is why his charactoer was killed. He is the one doing the fast drawing and gunfighting. He also have a certain "swagger" the way he walks. He has said he isnt allowed to say which scenes is him but says his kids can tell and that they are always right.

It’s funny how by making a joke about the sidequests he proves the opposite of the point he’s trying to make because everyone loves watching it. Andor followed characters who weren’t Andor for huge portions of the show as well. People didn’t seem to mind there.

The thing is, in Andor all the things for secondary characters have payoffs. And they are well paced, justified, and it makes for a good overall layout. Here they don't have good payoffs. Ryan Georges emphasize this fact, are you gonna see then again ? No. Same for Jay, he felt "ok so it better have to be a payoff, and no it doesn't". The problem is not the focus. It's the payoff. The episode with the Moff Gideon's agent and the doctor was actually very good. But since you are spending so much time not watching the main characters, you expect this episode to have a good payoffs. Also to see again these characters throughout the show here and there. But NOPE ! You see them for a very long episode and then nothing. Until the very last bits of the season. It's just total waste. Wasted potential. You have an agent undercover and you barely use her for tension. A super important doctor who did researches on Jedi and it only lead to a scene of Gideon's clones, that explodes as soon as we discover them. It's very bad tension building. Plus it is a change of pacing with deep character focus. Followed by few episodes where barely anything happens. Also some surface level character focus, while this episode again was well focus. It feels like the direction of the season is a patchwork of multiple directions. It's jarring. In Andor it never feels jarring. It's always organic, with build up, all the way up to climaxes. You can perfectly feel the rythm of 3-4 episodes arcs.

I just want to say that it makes no sense that Pedro wouldn't want to stay on the show. Even if he wanted to be more prevalent, he was extremely surprised at the beginning that they were even auditioning him for the role of the Mandalorian and not some tiny side character. He has been struggling for years in acting, and only recently got his break in the film industry. Even at the time of filming Game of thrones, he could barely get any jobs for a few years afterwards because it hadn't come out yet. People are underestimating the struggle he went through to get any recognition. He would not let those things go so easily. So even if he would like more screen time, I don't think it would have gotten to the point that he would want to quit over the voice acting thing. At the end of the day he is an extreme movie buff, and seems extremely excited about being involved in star wars as that was a huge part of his experience growing up. However he may have also ended up in a contract for the last of us, and I believe they were away for a year the last time they were filming. It's safe to say that if they had somewhere they needed him to be (especially if it was a company that actually needed him to be there to film) he would need to go work on that production. Especially because with Din, they don't need him to be there 100% (and there's so many stunt scenes for that character) just because his character doesn't take his helmet off, I'm sure there was conflicts in shooting schedules. Even if it's just to be a voice actor, why would someone quit a job like that intentionally? I'm just saying it wouldn't make sense, especially considering everything we've seen about Pedro. Plus I don't know if we'll need to worry about scheduling conflicts once Last of Us 2 comes out....ya know.. unless they changed the story (which I would be totally fine with). Yes I know I write essays, it is what it is.

The issue is they can keep him happy by letting him take his damn helmet off. What is the whole deal with the freaking helmet. Half of the Mandalorian‘s don’t even wear it including Bo katan. I understand that he is part of the cult but the whole point of this season and last season is that people can change and evolve with time. This way Pedro Pascal can be happy, and get more recognition for his acting, make money as an actor, a stuntman can do the action scenes that he can’t do. Like Bo katan does. What is the whole obsession with his freaking helmet. Why can’t Star Wars fans just be OK with ditching it. If I were Pedro Pascal, I would want recognition for my acting and would take offense if After everything I’ve done for the show Disney does not even have the audacity to give me a little bit of what I want. This might surprise you but there are a lot of casual people out there like myself that want to see the actor’s faces. We don’t care about helmets. When people found out that he was not gonna take his helmet off and wasn’t even on set, they stopped watching. That is why the ratings sucked.

I'm done with Star Wars. When I watched Episode 1 at the cinema was strike one. Revenge of the Sith was strike two. Mandalorian season 3 is my strike three. I'm out, life's too short to waste it like this.

The Critical Drinker has a problem, among others, with Pedro Pascal being a political liberal. It makes his evaluations less than reliable about the actor. Pedro was stuck in Canada for 11 months in quarantine doing The Last of Us. He did provide the voice while there. The original arrangement he had with The Mandalorian from the beginning was to provide the voice and physical acting when available because he was already booked into a Broadway play and another project when they approached him for The Mandalorian season 1 for example. Brendon Wayne (John Wayne's grandson) provides the body acting when Pedro is not available and Lateef Crowder dos Santos is the stunt man for the character. The writing bothered me too and I am not a general Star Wars fan. I thought they pushed Din out of the way for Bo Katon and I was not happy with that since she and her group look down on Mando as a "cult" member and not of "Mandalorian blood". Racist basically. In "the lore" it may be different but that was what you see and hear if you are only watching the show and not someone who follows all the other Star Wars content in cartoons and books.

The most disappointing thing about the series is when Mando takes his helmet off and you see the very sad withered face of Pedro Pascal as opposed to a rugged Clint Eastwood or Han Solo type of face. And his one dimensional emotionless voice acting was also disappointing. The site should follow Bo Katan, the true Mandalorian.

hey jaby... how about you let achara talk once in awhile? or at least finish her sentences? so many times she had something to say and you almost never let her. makes watching these videos frustrating as fuck. she even commented how you just bowled over her saying hello in a previous one i watched. and it is a CONSTANT thing. frankly, im gonna stop watching your reactions if they dont start including your supposed co-hosts reactions too.
