All rights go to Disney and Marvel all fighting and Ten Rings powers of Xu Wenwu aka The Mandarin took from the 2021 Marvel movie ''Shang Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings'' #shangchi #mandarin HD Shang Chi vs Mandarin Mandarin Iron Man 3
His style of fighting with the rings is so cool. I love weapons that require extreme levels of skill and this is probably the coolest fantasy weapon like that.
@@justanintrovertwithcooldp7it’s just for style contrast doctor strange uses eldritch magic and shang chi just uses the ten rings which i assume changed to reflect his chi
@@hughmungus1235 only because he didn't know her fighting style, with immortality you can learn every fighting style which further increases your power with the 10 rings.
from Chinese audience's opinion, we think that as a millennial overlords like Wenwu, his adversaries are just street gangsters? he could have adversaries more powerful and cool,
@@Emilechen he probably has many adversaries from every background, from street gangs that killed his wife to the scale of kingdoms and governments too as shown in the movie. I'm really sure people like Wenwu that really have that much thirst for power and lived for a thousand years will try to conquer every single thing in this world.
@@puppetactor2515you are right, a thousand years old overlord with magical superpower, how can the streets thugs dare to challenge him? it is just like some random street tuhgs in US dare to assassinate the family of Red Skull, Mandarin and Teng Ring organization's enemy in China should only be SPEAR, the Chinese counterpart of Shield,
I feel like the rings could be used greatly in a game, the way he can use them as a whip and a sort of blast and how he can jump really high with them just screams game
Has a game done this? Or something similar? I also feel like these rings would be GREATLY used in a game. There has to have been someone to do it right?
The amount of versatility in these rings' functions, you can use them to jump high, break objects, whip around places, rearrange into different forms to suit your needs, disarm people, shockwaves... If this movie doesn't just look like game material I don't know what would. RPG potential right here.
Aren't we glad tony didn't fight this mandarin. I doubt his armors pre-nanotech would be able to withstand the power of the rings, and even the bleeding edge armor would be hard pressed to defeat wenwu
Things he can do with the 10 Rings: -enhances his strength and speed -uses them as projectiles -can be used as a whip -can be used also as a forcefield -can capture someone in place -can strengthen blocking -gives him enhanced reflexes -can be used to propel himself to the air
Well that could easily just be thousands of years of combat experience...but judging from his veins glowing whenever they power up and how they respond to dragon airbending tai chi, the rings are certainly doing *something* to his energy flow.
No questions asked lol He's extremely sympathetic and honestly isn't evil when you think about it. Like, he was in the past but his present self isn't. He's motivated by hurt, grief and regret and that makes him such a compelling character. Sure, he's very abusive but he wants his kids to be the best and does what he does to them out of love
@@Brandon_4272 I mean he was still a sexist terrorist leader responsible for the death of thousands and neglected/abused his own children. He was definitely a bad guy but he was an interesting one.
When it comes to fight/physical scenes, I dislike it when actors let the wires or CGI do most of the work. For example, when performing a back flip, you don't just bend back and let the rest happen. Instead, bend your knees and then jump. I know it's not easy for many actors but it makes the scenes go unnoticeable and keeps the viewers immersed. This is why I praise Tony Leung for his outstanding performance.
The trick here is that while the rings are mainly CGI they don't take away from the actual fighting. They mainly serve as enhancements not substitutes.
@@somecallmejeremy well they put in a lot of fighting scenes and quick humor without giving a little break of character development. I'm not blaming Simu-liu for having less emotion because there is a reason: He was trained to become an assassin, a Killer. But after 6 years of running away, whenever Wenwu said if he was afraid of him: None. No trauma, just deep "sit thinking" scene, and backflash. - Or even in the jailbreak scene: all of a sudden, there is a way out real quick because of his sister... usually runaway...Like everything has been delivered to mouth just for some fighting scene. - Also remeber the bus scene. The scene was amazing. Fighting on bus... Hell yea. But... all of a sudden? There should be something that lead to a bus fight? - Or they only delivered us a little backstory of Soul Sucker. But what about the old city of this dimension? Why can't they use Gun? Why can't they just cover bullets with dragon scales? Or they can explain something like. Don't blame me if I don't know about gun policy. They can be smart at making reasons, such as picking electro crossbows because those protectors of the dark gate are his wife's ancestors. Sr for my English
2:57 I love how Wenwu uses the rings to stop the fall, most movies just overlook small details like this and just let the character land on their own. Marvel’s attention to details is immaculate.
That's why Stan Lee stressed that anything requiring flying or jumping insanely high in Marvel has to make sense with physics. He didn't want Thor to just be able to fly out of nowhere like Superman and that's why He spins it before it pulls him
He is 60 years old now(Tony Leung Chiu-wai) in case some of you guys dont know it. He is really a great actor in Asia(the whole Asia, not just east Asia). And he is the main factor that I went to see this movie. Great job,Mr. Leung.
Yup. He's one of goat Asian actor who goes in Hollywood very late.Unfortunately.Yun-Fat, Yeoh,Li.Everyone from his old movies were stars in Hollywood but he wasn't. Glad to see how he shines in Marvel
Probably the most creative weapon and interesting aswell. It can be a defensive and offensive weapon at the same time. It's basically combining Thor's Mjolnir offense and Cap's shield's defense.
@@loremaster77 But the fact that the Ten Rings are basically just Makulan batteries and they're already that strong and versatile as weapons makes one wonder how powerful actual Makulan weapons are. They'd probably be on par with the weapons crafted by the Dwarves of Nidavellir.
@@Fukei_Mono Sorry but you're talking about Nidavellir forging Stormbreaker and the Infinity Gauntlet, that goes way beyond what the Makulan could ever offer. Let's not forget that Stormbreaker was able to break through a blast from all 6 Infinity Stones. The 10 Rings are a very powerful weapon, don't get me wrong. It's just they in no way are on par with weapons like Stormbreaker. I'd take anything forged in Nidavellir over anything made on Earth quite frankly. On that topic, being able to fight against the Infinity Stones with Stormbreaker, being able to teleport between vast amounts of space with the Bifrost, just outclasses the rings in every way.
@@Fukei_Mono Tech marvels aside it must impress the makluans how humans were able to be so resourceful as to use their mundane technology so effectively in different circumstances aside from their primary use
@@loremaster77 The Infinity Gauntlet was specifically forged by the Dwarves to be weak against Stormbreaker. And Makulans also use interstellar travel technology like it's tissue paper or smth. And like I said, the Rings weren't created to be weapons in the first place. Why the hell are you comparing it to Dwarven magnum opus of mass destruction?
@@danielawesome36 they were decisively not. They were finger rings. There were various moments when their use was very different, from wearing on fingers to being grafted into his spine, but their shape hardly changed. The bracelets is not exactly accurate adaptation for MCU, but it looks pretty impressive for something made very specifically to not offend Chinese government.
I like how they make the powers vague but show enough to make you wanna see what else they can potentially do, they are established to be powerful and hopefully they can be expanded upon. Would absolutely love to see Shang Chi with the ten rings vs the full might of the Ironfist
Shang-Chi grabbed onto one of the rings and flew/glided a bit at the end of the movie, it was really cool. He also jumped on one or two rings like a platform while fighting. The Ten Rings is definitely a really unique, flexible and badass weapon.
The Ten Rings were an awesome badass weapon with a ton of different applications in the hands of Wen Wu. However, it's hinted that Wen Wu didn't even maximize the full potential of the rings, with Shang Chi's mother and Shang Chi being able to manipate the rings in new ways. I'm really excited to see how Shang Chi even unlock more powers and find new applications for the Ten Rings.
I would say the 10 rings is the best weapon that I loved in MCU and not matter the powerful it is , it's how wenwu played it that's awesome and beautiful
2:49 Just looks at the glow when he is hit with the ten rings. When I first saw the movie, I thought “how is shang chi able to endure this much damage and still fight? Isn’t just he a normal human? ” But when I rewatched this fight I noticed that his jacket was absorbing all the damage from the ten rings.
To be honest, the biggest reason that I went to theatre to watch this movie, was to see the performance of Tony Leung. And of course, he didn't disappoint me 👍
Finally he has Hollywood movies. Every his friends and partners(Yeoh,Yun-fat,Li,Lau(even though The Great Wall is so BS with all respect for Yimou)) were in blockbusters.I hope it's not his last big movie
His emotions changing to anger when Shang chi says will mother accept you.... And that power PUNCH sending throughout the lake, I think Shang chi deserved it🤣
@@nani_bow3489 His dad had abused/neglected him and his sister after his mom died. He also ran a terrorist organization which killed thousands. He also refused to listen to reason about the Dweller in the Dark. Sympathetic though Wenwu may be, he is 100% in the wrong here.
The Ten Rings being bracelets rather than rings on the fingers took some getting use to. Especially if you watched the animated Iron man shows and comics. But it is an interesting take on it, emphasizes the use martial arts and techniques.
Find the MCU design is very different and two in the mid credit scenes it’s other worldly sends out a beacon but It could most likely be celsistal or he who remains variants (kang the conqueror)
@@tylerm7035 A story following him throughout history and how the 10 rings impacted major events in history leading up to Iron Man captured in the first movie.
Do you think his father saw the armor and was like, he is wearing armor, he will be ight. If you look closely, he looked at him for a second. Making sure he wore armor.
In the introduction scene, Wenwu was one shotting enemies. So I'm sure Shang Chi would've died without the armour and even if not then he would've drown.
Honestly the style would have not really worked that well. Iron Man generally just flies around and blast people and maybe sneaks a haymaker in here and there. I think putting Wenwu against Shang Chi gave a better chance to show off his powers then if he was fighting Iron Man.
@@bird4260 sure, and i like ice age too Doesnt change the fact its made for kids Maybe mcu is a bit different because it was made for grown up kids Also marvel movies being good is very argueable, if not straight out false
I love the fact that the ten rings has such versatility and when Shang-Chi almost beats Wenwu it was because he was adapting more to his fight style, and when Shang-Chi uses them he uses his mom's and dad's (plus his own) fighting style with the ten rings
I love the just emotional blow Shang-Chi delivers to his father. I believe the line was along the lines of "She would want nothing to do with what you have become." Like, in theaters, that line got me feelin'... pretty sad.
I love the scenes of Tai Chi and the beautiful scenery of the forests....its like the sparring becomes peaceful cause you find a flow and transmute energies without being shaken internally... that's what I get from the forest sparring scene.
I can't wait to see how they use the 10 rings in the next Shang Chi film as we don't know the true power of them since Wenwu only used them for basic combat and utility it makes me wonder how Shang Chi's fighting style might help the rings unlock more of its true power like maybe he can fly with them since we know he used them to avoid attacks so it makes me think if he had them under his feet or on his hands and feet he could be more versatile and creative
Easily my favorite villain of any MCU movie. Ever. I love the differences with how Shang Chi and Wenwu use the rings. Wenwu is so visceral with them, almost like he commands them. Shang Chi seems like he wants to harmonize with them instead. I'd probably use them more like Wenwu to be honest, hahah.
@Lee Brown Whoa friend. I am merely saying with my mindset currently, I would use the rings like Wenwu would ; From a perspective of pain and resentment. The way he uses the rings, and how he fights, indicates he is fighting from a position of suffering. He is not cooperating with the rings, he is commanding them, in an effort to regain someone he loves more than anything. Let me put it this way : The scene where Wenwu takes Shang Chi to the club, directly following the scene where his wife was murdered, I wouldn't be using the rings to harmonize with. I'd be doing what Wenwu did, and wreck and murder and destroy every fucking piece of shit that had any degree of involvement with my wife's murder. And it would be visceral.
@Lee Brown I don't know if you have lost anyone close to you, and I'm really sorry if you did. If you have, then I would hope you would understand what I am saying, and at least understand why Wenwu uses the rings the way he did.
@@OhioPaulDE you took all that out my mouth. I completely agree. I have never fallen in love before in my 23 years of life. If someone were to took my first love away from me, I would’ve done the exact same thing Wenwu did, maybe worse. That is why Wenwu is also my most favorite villain in the MCU currently. He is relatable. I lost my dog to another dog, and I understand the pain and anger that goes with it. I even had thoughts of strangling the dog that killed my dog. Pain and grief can blind you, or much worse corrupt. Imo, I don’t really see Wenwu as a villian. I just see someone desperate to retrieve the one he loves back.
I can honestly say, MCU version of the 10 rings is much cooler than the comic book version. Comic version is too OP and a bit boring. Probably my favorite marvel weapon.
it just so incredible and flawless that Tony's performances are. Besides the actions, Tony's eyes are like telling the character's emotions, stories and the transformations throughout the movie. Basically, he can just only act with his eyes, and your brain will immediately related to his character. The true master level of acting I think is just like Tony. Really a marvelous actor in the world, especially when someone like me have followed him from my childhood. It's just not only shocking that he performed in a marvel movie but also how legendary that he still attempts to be better and better in his own acting career. And just TBH, throughout the whole movie, my eyes are only gazing at Tony. I'm so sorry for Simu. Hopefully we can see other movie or series in the future that talk about wenwu's past. (I admit that I just want to see Tony more in the marvel universe lol.)
Ofc. He is one of the greatest Asian actor of all time. When you play in Kar-Wai,Woo and Yimou's(not to say about Infernal Affairs aka Departed)movies ur effin legend
One could argue that Wenwu..? (or rather the actor portraying him)..? is also THE Best actor in the MCU! Tony Leung is straight up a Mother-Fxxking Legend! (I could be wrong, but that looks..? like the Five Element Fist variant of Xing Yi Quan w/aspects of Wing Chun Kun added... and he studied THAT *JUST* for a previous role!)
@@Sidragrosm MCU has a lot of great actors. But Leung the most satisfying to be there cause he should've been in Hollywood decades ago like his friends Yun-Fat,Jet Li or Yeoh but he finally appeared
My only issue with the film why they killed off wen wu/mandarin He's an important villian, i imagine him working along norman osborne and other villians
"we can't make them actual finger rings or people will associate them with the infinity stones" "Okay hear me out. They're bracelets and they're all just Mjolnir" "Genius"
as an asian MCU fan boy, of all the marvel movies out there .. Shang-Chi is the best movie ever existed (so far). The music, the choreography, the effects, the acting, Wen Wu's facial expression and delivery and here's the outstanding part: The tradition. There were scenes where they LITERALLY focused on asian culture such as when Shang-Chi went to Katy's house in the morning, the camera focuses on how Shawn (Shang-chi) removed his shoe before entering the house. Also the Family dinner after the fight at the club. Maaaan can't wait for part 2
@StopTheCap when Cap wielded mjolnir he possessed the powers of thor.. more likely a God.. Idk how thanos able to go toe to toe with it just to make him more dangerous but in reality Cap could hold on his own without the ten rings. though I might say with the ten rings he is powerful.
I love the Ten Rings a lot, as one could use them in any way really. Especially martial arts Also I can't help but think they'd be perfect for mortal Kombat
After reading a little bit about what the 10 rings can do in the comics, I can NOT wait to see more of these weapons. By far, and by a super super long shot, these are the coolest live action weapons that I have ever seen. Visually, they look amazing, the sounds are so unique and work super well, and the choreography of the fights with the rings were excellent and creative. Honestly hope to god that they will look as good, and EVEN BETTER, the next time we see them.
