The Many Pieces Of Mr. Coo - A Surreal Hand Animated Adventure in a Nonsensical World of Weirdness! Read More & Play The Alpha Demo, Free: www.alphabetagamer.com/the-ma... #Gaming #animation #indiegames
This has all the vibes of classic animation oddities of the 70's and 80's to me, and as an inspiring animator this is the style (maybe not as a weird game, but) I'd want for my game lol.
This game’s art style looked SO familiar to me and, after looking things up, it turns out that the creator made a flash game years ago called El Laberinto Esférico that I used to play all the time when I was a kid. It’s really cool to see how far they’ve come!
Looks like Charlie Dompler/Zach Hadel is on the adventure of a lifetime with this one. Also, 2D animation needs to make a comeback. This was too precious and well animated!
I'll buy this on principle alone - the same principle that motivated me to buy Cuphead even though I didn't really want to play it. Long live fluid hand-drawn animation!
Extremely impressive, full of life and style! It looks like something I would have seen when I stayed up too late as a kid and as an adult I try desperately to explain it to people and just get blank looks.
So to clear up things here, Mr Coo was made years before Smiling Friends. In fact, Nacho Rodriguez, the animator and director here, created Mr Coo in the Mid 2000s as his own experimental animations. I will post you the original collection of shorts to give you an idea.

I have an theory: White glove can represent life, grey old man - death, and as it was shown on the arcade machine, they have a constant struggle. Death always turns over the hourglass, which symbolizes the finiteness of life, and life gives a gift in the form of, perhaps, the meaning of life, which the main character is actually trying to find, or do I just have a deep meaning search syndrome?
I remember being amazed watching Mr. Coo animations on Newgrounds good to see he's still at it with a game no less must've taken a mammoth amount of effort.
nacho rodriguez at it again with his amazingly weird projects! I'm so glad mr.coo is back as El Laberinto Esférico was a very remarkable part of my childhood. And Mr.Coo came before charlie. WAY before
So I saw the trailer for this game a while ago, and I had many questions about what the game was about, and I assumed I would have to see gameplay to know more. Now that I'm looking at gameplay, I'm confident that I have even more questions.
This animation style reminds me of Bruno Bozzetto, an italian animator from the 90's For those who don't know him there's a lot of his works on youtube
This is beautiful, brilliant, and wonderfully imaginative. The views for this need to be at least 8 figures. It's the best thing I've seen on RU-vid in ages.
This one is exceptional on a visual level; the main character may be overly simplistic, and the line work can be noticeably sketchy at times, but the animation and visual designs (the way the arcade machine is revealed to have a monkey with a light beside it for example) are fantastic. I'm really impressed, it really does feel like a more classically animated piece, rather than a modern cartoon, or even a well-done classic internet cartoon. Defo wish-listing this one.
See: this is why I'm still subscribed. Even if there's a lot of games I'm not interested in, there's the occasional stuff like this that that makes me happy.
I really hope this game takes off like Cuphead did as this is only a demo. It has an artstyle that many are familiar with, but could never mark down as what it is
This is all so fluid and wonderfully weird to watch! I hope the people behind this game makes more games like this or just find more work. On an additional note, the main character looks like Charlie from Smiling Friends and that makes me like this game even more.
What if John K. made a point and click adventure game? Something about Mr. Coo himself reminds and the overall style reminds me of him. I am certainly gonna check this out!
