I find Cedric's voice one of the most mesmerizing and powerful male voices in rock. I also love his humble affect in interviews. This band's eclectic creativity is astounding.
Could not agree more. Cedrics voice is angelic, and Omars guitar playing compliments his voice perfectly.. Just glad they are still kickin it to this day... The day TMV doesn't consist the two of them will be a sad day indeed.
First, heard this smoking a bowl after work in Staples parking lot, I grew up listening to texacano songs with my grandpa when I was little, so that transition seriously blew me away. Had to start the song all over a few times LOL
R.I.P Larry Harlow. He did guest piano on this song and was one of Omar's biggest influences. Worth checking out for his enthusiastic and fiery piano playing. One of the greats!
This isn't even the full version and its still amazing, every second of it. They really should be more recognized. Their vision is endless and their musical talent would make most musical artists drool. Honestly, the amount of creativity that goes into every song, along with the time and effort and talent, its just unheard of. The Mars Volta is the must underrated band in the world and they should be more appreciated. They are musical, lyrical, artistic geniuses and I love them
good band but definitely not "the most underrated in the world". 122k subscribers isn't bad for an experimental/progressive-rock band. there are so many other bands I could say that for.
Don't speak two words in Spanish properly but this makes me sound like a pro ever since I first sang it. Thank you Guitar Hero World Tour! Loved this song ever since!
I remember standing in a kitchen wearing a blood sugar sex Magik shirt at a party and a guy came up to me and said I love that album! Do you play music? I said yeah I sing and play guitar he said I’m a drummer I play in a band called Mars Volta I remember thinking...that’s a weird name lol drank a beer smoked a joint with him we talked about Frusciante’s solo albums and then went our separate ways...I saw RHCP on the stadium Arcadium tour a few years later and the Mars Volta were the opening band lol
I still remember the 13 year old nu-metal kid being really fascinated by how this song overthrew her concepts of what rock music is when it came on the radio. Still grateful for how Mars Volta led me to greater music, and Frances the Mute is my absolute favourite of their albums.
SirZapdos Please don’t kill me for this. Due to their changing lineup from At the Drive In, their Mars debut, touring musicians, flea, etc...I forgot the John played on this song. Did he record the album with them? Just this song? I hadn’t revisited their music in like 15 years due to painful memories associated with it.
@@thevinyltruffle in Frances the Mute he plays some solos (basically, every solo that sounds like a normal solo - it's well known that Omar's doesn't lol). In other records, some solos and additional guitar parts - in Amputechture, John records all guitar parts and Omar (who wrote most of them) records the additional ones, tho
Oh I just heard the second solo cutoff...what the fuck. They cut out other piano parts too. That's rage inducing. Let's find some machines to rage against.
+hans dampf Well, when you decide to release a 12 minute song for radio airplay, you have to make some edits. Granted it's not a very good edit at all, but that's just how the industry works.
We took acid many years ago and listened to this album front to back. During this song, we were creeping through the town. When ever the salsa-like quite parts came, we would take cover and hide
These guys rock... if i can see them live every year for at least the next ten (as i have for the last 6 or 7 yrs or so, ive lost count) ill be a very happy man... much appreciated
Isaac Chavez even in english hahaha there is a lil more objective to the lyrics of this song as a most to most but he even says most the time its just bs left for post interpretation hahaha
This band is more than a reflection of an era. It is a phantom asteroid who returns to set his sights on sound art. A decadent wave laden with paradoxes from which obscurantism and the irrational escape, hypnotic factors defying vulnerable souls in search of the absolute. This sound architecture is a short tunnel that leads to light.
I had been looking for this song for about 15 years. I couldn't remember the tune, the name, band, nothing. Except the word 'claymore' which I was begging to doubt was even there but a pursued a few unrelated rabbit holes tonight and I found it. It's kind of epic yet sad the journey is over
When i first found out about you guys i was frustrated. In south jersey: WDOX never palyed the artist/title for the songs they ran. It took me almost 8 years to find Pearl Jam's cover of Crazy Mary. It Took me a little longer (almost a year) to find invalid Litter Dept. it put me to sleep with a feeling of content throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Thank you for loving music, and being lucky enough to find each other. The rest i shall not speak.
I lived in a really run down group home in my early teens and I had a friend who really came through with an Ipod Shuffle and this album was on there with a few other (now) staple albums for me. I remember vividly not having a way to charge my iPod except for an extra CPU they had lying around. Id lay in my shitty little bed right next to the thing with headphones blasting. I truly don't know how i would've made it through that as an angsty depressed teen if it wasn't for the way bands like this helped me.
Buen show cuando vinieron a tocar a Argentina 💜💕
First time i heard this song like...2 years ago, I was SO hypnotized by it's sound. I started playing it ALL THE TIME! I've never FELT a song this STRONGLY before. I'm glad I'm revisiting this absolute masterpiece!
i had a friends brother introduce me to these guys with this album on 420. we sat in her room and smoked an ounce with him and i was blown away between the epic melt your face rock and the sound effects and the complete changes of music style in the same songs. its got it all. this album will forever be one of the greatest albums in rock history hands down
This is just a perfect piece of art, the best way to describe what universe energy communicates thru 2 persons who just receives this energy and creates this type of perfectly balanced masterpiece!!!
The imagery in this video is astounding, especially the quick flash at 1:20. I'm still trying to figure out this album and put all the pieces together. It's a masterpiece.
@@erickgonzalez2839 Why do you say that? I'd assume they want us to see it if they flash it for such a short span of time. Also, I was able to screenshot it, and it's not a tarantula, it's a woman, contorted to look like one. The first section of Cassandra Gemini is Tarantism, and those are definitely connected.
This song and video burned itself into my mind with the vocals, instrumentals, and surreal visuals when I first saw in televised way back when... I don't think I'll ever forget it, and I'm thankful to have seen it.
from some kind of samba to rock and then pop rock... the last few days I have been trying to find mixed genre music and I am finally getting somewhere... pretty interesting... it also has some kind of ska/reggae element... very interesting find :)
Based on the rhythm and instruments used, what you here at 3:42 falls under the genre of Cuban Bolero. However, there are different types of Bolero (as different types of jazz) because many have fusions. This one in particular is a bolero that is very closely related to Salsa music. Here is a perfect example of this genre in its pure form: /watch?v=2_vcw-VEKRM Cheers and hope that helps :)
I'm 28 now but hmm let's see I saw them twice in concert once when they played with system of a down,2nd best concert I've ever seen rage against the machine being number one. I was like 18 or 19 when I saw Mars volta. I still love them. Helped me through some dark days
And with every body that I find And with every clamor that they mine I won't forget who I'm looking for O mother can u help me I'm looking for ... The best mistakes
First off the video reminds me of being on acid and trying to watch tv, then the part with the skulls is like, sensory deprivation on acid. This song and album in my opinion is some of the best I've heard of progressive rock. It's so experimental, who would have thought to mix progressive rock music with Jazz Fusion and Latin Rock? This band is filled with true musicians who arent afraid to do what they want. My personal favorite is how the songs on the album flow together like a....
