John Wick also knows his striking techniques as well, at least the basic ones like the jab and the cross, but just doesn't use striking barehanded as he usually uses weapons.
@@WaLor-ld3wg he is like khabib best in grappling but little bad in stricking (still better than normal humans). We haven't seen him doing stricking only one scene in part 1 ending
Majority are jiu jitsu which is the basis of aikido, judo and BJJ. The flying arm bar is not only related to sambo, neither is the sheonage or the kataguruma which is also a judo and jiu jitsu technique.
@@kuroto7773 jiu jitsu is originally from medieval Japan and was created by the samurai. Many other Japanese martial arts stem from jiu jitsu. These include aikido and also Judo which was created around the 1950s. BJJ was created by the Gracie’s after they went to Japan and learnt judo from sensei maeda and they then went back to brazil and modified what they learnt from judo and then really adapted it to a ground based system only and called it Gracie jiu jitsu which then became know and Brazilian jiu jitsu. The original Japanese jiu jitsu involves both take downs and ground work along with arm locks, wrist lock, head locks, throws from standing and also on the ground. It also involves weapons work including the traditional Japanese based weapons such as the katana, Bo, jo, tanto etc.
Agree but Jujitsu from medieval Japan was from multiple schools and clans with each ones had their own techniques. There was not a universal school for Jujitsu back then. Judo took techniques from several schools. Today, most western dojos branded as Japanese/traditional jujitsu are a bunch judo throws combine with strikes and joint locks. Nothing specific to a particular medieval jujitsu school. Only exception that comes in my mind is Daito ryu Jujitsu which is an original jujitsu school that has survived.
Classic Japanese anything would not include any form of Jiu-Jitsu....because it's a "jitsu". All the classic pre Dai Nippon Budo Kai arts would be "jutsu".
@@borrago Don't think so, cause Jutsu is just anorher form of the traditional Kanji who is written the same way, but spoken in two other was, "Jitsu" and "Jutsu". But maybe you're deeper into this, then you are free to tell me.
Technically it is all Sambo because it has been revealed that John Wick trained Sambo as an orphan. But yeah, Sambo, Aikido, Judo, Jujutsu, Aikijujutsu, BJJ are all related so they resemble each other.
Actually, it is ninjutsu, but it is more specifically jutaijutsu, which is a set of grappling techniques and throws that are part of taijutsu, which was originally part of bujutsu or bugei before being adopted within the military system known as ninjutsu, because ninjutsu is not a martial art.
He also uses karate because i do it and have noticed a few karate strikes he is also seen using a makiwara (hand hardening tool) in the start of chapter 4 which is karate equipment
People who say aikido is unrealistic. John Wick proves the otherwise. Aikido is a martial art that must be practiced in the heat of battle. Aikido is ineffective against someone who is on guard. But in a fight to the death, with guns and knives. When the opponent is out of breath, when he is afraid of dying, when he is stressed, then we can use aikido. Because the enemy becomes as frail as a flower.
So... a scripted unrealistic movie proves that a martial arts can be effective in a real life situation...? Aikido is 99% useless. Look up Martial Arts Journey, an Aikido master who quit Aikido because it's so damn useless.
@@TheReal4th And besides, we learn special force aikido techniques. So I doubt it's that pointless. It takes a lot of strength to move someone so easily. Feverish and old masters do not have this strength.
@@dyIanrs The vast majority of aikido is useless, and with all due respect, I very much doubt that you have ever been in a fight to the death. If you do research, and look up what professional MMA fighters have to say about Aikido, you'll see that outside of the traditional martial arts sphere, the collective opinion on aikido is pretty negative.
I would say its only a combination of sambo and aikijiujitsu, first because we saw at the Ruska Roma kids dressed as sambist, and i think thats a hint onto John's past, and then Aikijujitsu because those are the more distinguishable movementes aside from sambo, and of course since it is a theory he is a former marine i would not discard the idea of him being well fojnded on MCMAP or a military self defense system.
A lot of this stuff is also Karate. Also, I don't know why anyone would study Aikido if one also knew Aikijujutsu. If you know Aikijujutsu, Aikido is redundant. And Ninjutsu is not a martial art, it's technically "stealth and intelligence gathering," not a fighting style.
No he did not study ninjutsu, nor is the technique ninjutsu. It's aikijujutsu or, (if one were to make the claim it was from an art from the feudal or warring states period) it would be Aikibudo.
Well, there’s a certain Aikido dojo that was visited by the movie’s stunt team to provide multiple demonstrations, so wrong on that! Also, it would be nice if they gave credit where credit is due, but this is Hollywood we’re talking about.
