You gotta love people that don’t know what they want. I’m glad you showed the time that was waisted and the entire extra day (or more) of work that was caused by their indecision. I’ve been a full time woodworker for the past 5 years and the only times I have had to take a loss is due to client indecision and as I’m sure you know that is not a good practice for a business. I’m glad you were able to get them to pay for your time.

Outstanding table brother! I have a year and a half old son and haven’t built a thing since he was born. I’m chomping at the bit to make something but no real time yet. One thing I do when hammering in butterflies is use a piece of wood that is the entire length of the butterfly, I have had a couple break on me when not doing that, although I’m pretty green at woodworking so could have been flawed butterfly manufacture.👍🇺🇸

Awesome build, that table came out beautiful! Have you ever powder coated your metal table legs? I made a dining table with metal legs and wanted them to be black to match the epoxy, but was concerned about the black paint scratching so I went with powder coat and was so happy with the results.

Thats some awesome work right there. if i wanna use a table like that as a computer desk that will carry an ultrawide monitor which can weigh around 30 kg plus a computer case maybe between 30 to 50 kg depending on the configuration, would it it be able to handle that kinda weight ? is the structure of the table strong enough ? the size i have in mind is 200/250 cm by 80 with 2,8 or 4 cm thickness.
@chm1701
@chm1701 5 лет назад
I’m not really a fan of epoxy, mostly due to the overwhelming amount of videos relating to the subject, BUT, the colour of epoxy you chose, in conjunction with the contrasting bow-ties, results in a table which is not only classy, but will no doubt stand the tests of time. It’s also the sort of table you know will be passed down from generation to generation. Really beautiful result, William and this is another video where I’ve learnt a lot.

Love this. I plan to make a similar table in a year or so for the new house. Can you share how you did the router sled / rails?
@wmwalkerco
@wmwalkerco 2 года назад
Go for it! The sled is fairly simple. The rails are just straight (jointed) 2x4s with holes big enough to fit a clamp head. The sled is just a piece of scrap 3/4"(1/2" would probably be better) ply as wide as the router base with a slot big enough for the router bit. The sides of the sled are hardwood and provide the rigidity so the ply doesn't sag over the span. I screwed some cleats on the bottom of the sled to reference off the rails and I coated all of the sliding surfaces with paste wax.

I would not recommend using any silicone based caulk on anything that is ever going to be finished. The silicone residue never goes away and any coating beads up on it. Bad news.

Sir, isn’t running a circular saw on the edges enough to joint the edges? Not questioning the method, I have no idea, I thought it was.
@wmwalkerco
@wmwalkerco 4 года назад
Sometimes it can be. There could be tension in the wood though and it could result in a bad joint. Track saws will get you even closer, but sometimes you'll still need to finesse the edge. If you do get a good joint off of the circular saw kudos! All that matters is the end result doesnt really matter how you get there.
@bsilver10
@bsilver10 4 года назад
Wm. Walker Co. oh! Ok! Thanks for the info, I just thought doing it with CS will not work. I’m worried coz I’ve got no jointer, and my table saw’s cut height is not enough to do the jointer jig. And sorry, I didn’t notice that you freehand the CS cut at the beginning.
