I was blessed to watch this awesome movie in the theaters. They just don't make movies like this anymore, it had everything I love in a movie. It had a great revenge story, awesome casting and acting, good action, comedy, a love story, two bad villains, real special effects, no bad words, gore and blood was light, even the horse acting was great, it had everything I want in a movie. I love this movie.

Both Zorro’s outfits are actually *very different* when you look closely. The costume designers wanted Hopkins’ outfit to display his Diego’s *Spanish* heritage, while Alejandro’s showcases his *Mexican* ancestry. Diego’s has a velvet ribbon on the Hat, heeled boots, shiny metal clasps for the Cape, the gloves flare out much more and overall have cleaner and more “classic” European styles. Alejandro’s Hat has a Tribal pattern, thinner Gloves yet a far more open shirt, a duller and dustier Cape string yet his Boots have Cowboy-Esque stirrups on them similar to ones that characters from Western movies have.

I liked how you mentioned Batman at the beginning when it showed Zorros secret lair. In the comics the Waynes had gone to see Zorro at the movies when his parents were killed and Batman took inspiration from Zorro in his superhero persona. Also, another cool bit of info, Antonio Banderas character is based on an actual Mexican bandit/freedom fighter who would go on to be the inspiration of the fictional Zorro. And the captain was also based on a real American captain who actually did keep heads in jars.

Definitely one of the best swashbuckler movies since the Golden Age of Hollywood (1930s and 1940s). If you want to react to any similar older movies, I recommend The Adventures of Robin Hood from 1938, it’s spectacular for a movie in color from back then! Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland are the gold standard for Robin Hood and Maid Marian and Claude Rains and Basil Rathbone make excellent villains!

Holy crap. 31:25. I never noticed a Zorro errection/dick gag (eh ;p pun intended). I watched this religiously as a kid because it was one of the 40 or so VHS tapes we had, only 15-20 of which could only be watched by a person above age 5 and/or could rub two brain cells together. Not much choice, but most of those survived until now. I never noticed him pulling the sword up like that meaning he's attracted to her being a competent swords(wo)men. Man after my own heart, I can't say I haven't felt the same way toward a few ladies that actually squared up a knew how to really fight someone. More related than I thought weirdly, The Mask of Zorro plays a plot point in another of my favorite movies/real life stories of all time, Breach. Pound for pound and actor for actor, I think it's the finest cast ever filmed and I think there might be 15 actors at best including the only couple no name bit background actors. True story about trying to flush out a Soviet or American mole during the course of the Cold War. One of the main characters had a real life obssesion with this movie and it comes up once where the main character of the movie isn't sure if his boss is being a sexually weird man, a weird secret agent "test" trying to trip him up or to characterize him, or just simply a robotic, Religious, career dream employee buracrat showing his final protege one of his of rare "worldy" pleasures, a rare Hollywood film he aproves of, a feel good Swashbuckler jomp that probably reminds him of the wholesome clasics he grew up on. It's seriously an incredible movie that I've never seen someone react to. Ryan Phillipe, Caroline Dhavernas (uber BAE), Kathleen Quinlan, Laura Linney, Gary Cole, Dennis Haysbert, and Chris Cooper, one of my favorite and all time under rated great actors' best role IMO.

If you want to see just how far back Zorro goes as a character, you should check out The Mark of Zorro (1940) with Tyrone Power as Zorro. The old school swashbuckling flicks always have a great mix of action and romance, so I'd also recommend Errol Flynn in Captain Blood and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Thank Magy! This is one of my favorite movies, and so few reactors do this one. - This was the film that put Catherine Zeta Jones (Elena) on the map. She had made films before but either low-budget or TV movies that didn't get a lot of attention. The dancing sequence is just a hit of one of Catherine's many talents. Years after this, she would win an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as Velma Kelly in the movie musical Chicago (2002) with Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere. She appears in many of the biggest songs in the film like All That Jazz, Cellblock Tango, I Can't Do It Alone, the finale Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag, and sings the end credit song I Move On with Renee Zellweger. The movie won 6 Oscars in all, including Best Picture. If you haven't seen Chicago...it's amazing! - Both Catherine Zeta Jones and Anthony Hopkins are from Wales. - The director of this film has handled another action icon. Martin Campbell directed the first appearance of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in GoldenEye (1995), as well as the first appearance of Daniel Craig as Bond in Casino Royale (2006). Both of those are among the best Bond adventures put on film. Unfortunately, Campbell also directed one of the worst superhero movies...he directed Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Taika Waititi, and Tim Robbins. - Zorro predates Batman, and was the inspiration for Bruce Wayne/Batman. Zorro's first adventure was a novel called The Curse of Capistrano by Johnston McCulley in 1919. Since then, Zorro has appeared in many film, television, and stage adaptations, as well as many writers' stories and novels, including a literary novel by Isabelle Allende. Two of my favorite movies are The Mark of Zorro with Tyrone Power as Diego de la Vega/Zorro in 1940 and Zorro, The Gay Blade, a parody starring George Hamilton in 1981, which is hard to find and might not have aged well. I wish I could recommend The Legend of Zorro, the sequel with Antonio and Catherine...but it is not that great. - There is a cut scene after the mine explodes, and Alejandro and Elena are with all of the miners that are rescued, and they come across Generalissimo Santa Ana (played by Joquin DeAlameida), who knows about the mine and Montero. I'm including it, because I really wish the scene had stayed in: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pUzfl7KTwao.html

But despite there being thousands of available DVD copies of Terminator, Alien, Toy Story, I Am Legend, Bad Boys, Shrek, etc etc for sale, this title appeared to be very elusive. At least this movie was a little more like the real Zorro (El Zorro Negro was the full name in reality, or even the Robin Hood of the West!) in that they included the Murrieta brothers. In reality, Joaquin Murrieta was a miner who was working a claim. But, for racist reasons, he was beaten, his brother hanged, and his wife "ravaged." He was then kicked off of his land. After that, he became a "social bandit," creating the legend of Joaquin, El Zorro Negro, or the Black Fox in English. In July of 1853, some "law men" shot and killed him along with Three Fingered Jack, and displayed his head in a jar. (At this point, it is only allegedly Joaquin Murrieta's head, as it was never proven to actually be his...) It is interesting that they paid homage to that fact of the story.... Joaquin is the brother that shot himself in the movie. This reaction was very fun! If you notice similarities with the sword fighting, it is because Bob Anderson was the Swords Master who choreographed both movies!

Background : Zorro was introduced in a magazine story in 1919, and there have been dozens of versions since in books, movies, TV shows, and comics. Almost all of them feature Diego De La Vega, the character played by Anthony Hopkins in this film; most of them have him resisting the corrupt governor of Spanish California before 1821 when Mexico declared its independence. That's why the film opens with Rafael leaving California, because he's handing over his authority to the Mexican government. In this film Alejandro Murieta becomes the new Zorro, and it's set 20 years later so California is ruled by Mexico rather than Spain. The sequel is set 10 or 15 years later (I think) and Alejandro calls himself De La Vega.

After watching this movie, I would not fault anybody for believing that Catherine Zeta Jones was the most beautiful woman to ever live.

🎵 I could spend my lifetime loving you🎶 Maggie! This is one of my favorite Adventure films, and I've been "forced" to sing this song at karaoke. I would sing it for you anytime you wish. (If I could)☺️

Yes... the ending song is perfect. Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones light (or should I say HEAT) up the screen. Love your reaction to this great movie.❤

Some facts: Anthony Hopkins learned how to use a whip and was really proficient. That really was him whipping out the candles. In fact, he got in trouble for practicing the whip outside the studio because the crack was interupting the other actors. At the start of the final fight with Captain Love, Antonio Banderas nailed that moment when light reflects off his sword with every single take. Catherine Zeta-Jones has admitted she genuinely got aroused while filming the stable fight. Joaquin Murrieta (Alejandro's brother) was a real man and believed to be the inspiration for the Zorro character. Also, Zorro was one of the inspirations for Batman. In Batman stories, the night Thomas and Martha Wayne were killed, they had just taken Bruce to see a Zorro movie.

Women of the Cymru are the finest examples of their sex: beautiful, intelligent, dangerous, loyal, often times better suited for governance than the men, though we tend to be much more suited to warfare and charm than they. On average. Catherine Zeta-Jones is one such example. She has a breathtaking mind for business, aesthetics, and is an excellent fencer. We often joke that our women are too vicious and cruel for politics, which is why we handle domestic politics and they handle the foreign politics.

I grew up watching the old Zorro tv series with my dad. A fun Zorro movie to watch is “Zorro:The Gay Blade” it was made in 1981 and is really funny. Amazon prime has a new Zorro series that has a different story of the legend of Zorro.

The thing is... Montero was the villain of the piece, but was his plan so terrible? He wanted to free Mexico (part of it anyway) from the control of Spain, and make it an independent nation. Sure, that benefits him, and his allies... but also the people of California.
