Im not the biggest fan of The Masked Man sometimes... dont vibe with his online persona. But all that aside, mad respect for this madlad for starting his own manga, that is so ambitious you gotta respect it!
Bro which persona? 💀 Nah but it’s pretty mad to see him put his own story out there, especially knowing as a content creator who reviews manga, he’s gonna get heavily criticised, huge respect
Holy shit YES Pokémon mystery dungeon that's what it reminded me of! I couldn't quite put my finger on it but you just solved the fucking mystery in my brain thank you
I personally think the "lot of potential" is maybe a bit too nice, or vague. If you add in that everything happening was basically a bare bones trope after trope, nothing original, nothing fresh, then it really starts to lose the anchor of something that has the potential to be expanded upon. In a sense, everything that starts without major fundamental issues, has potential. This chapter was relying way too hard on cool, edgelord, "there's a monster inside" tropes and while some of these can be fantastic plot-points, done in a pre-mature way will make it feel pretencious and "fake-deep", also lose the ability for it to hit bigger, better later, especially with the bible thing subjectively for me. Felt like it was grasping desperately for attention and trying to imply that theres more to come without it actually having substance to expand upon. I think the story telling was kind of backwards. Sorry if its too blunt, but I really do respect the courage to put this stuff out there and face every criticism, recognize problems and make it a learning experience. Even if I dont personally vibe with the guy (MAINLY BECAUSE IM A ONE PIECE FAN :) and we all know how that went lol ). I would rather use the word "ambitious" for this chapter, I feel his want to really try to push this. All in all the next chapter could prove everything I said wrong, so i dont exclude that possibility either. This was all based on this one single chapter.
I have to agree. I recently read Devoro and was underwhelmed. I wasn't expecting it to be good but with everyone mentioning how much potential it had and its spanish influences, I was expecting it to be unique. it felt very uninspired. It seemed he took all his favorite tropes put them together without structure, and added some spanish words on top. Considering the manga influences, I was expecting more world building too. All his influences, the world is basically a character itself. Yet both the writing and (especially) the art was devoid of it. And the art was rushed and very clearly unfinished at multiple points. The artist can clearly draw but it also clear they don't like backgrounds and was rushing towards the end. I'd check it again if its redone entirely though. I like some of those tropes used (Giant cities on the back of monster and monster hunting are always fun) and its interesting to see art made by youtubers who dont normally do that kind of stuff.
It made no sense. Should've used those pages to draw an action set piece. Hes inspired by the blame! author so why did he make it so boring? Also the MC is already liked by everyone as soon as he arrives, lol.
