I 100% agree everything you said is so true I bought nfs unbound because I wanted to get behind the virtual wheel and chill after work by driving a fancy fast car that I don't have irl. but the game is constantly punishing you (under the vise of challenge) by including aggressive cops outside races so I can't really drive fast, and within races you have tough opponents with limited restarts. I couldn't believe it the first time I saw I could only restart few times because it felt like the game is punishing me for being competitive and trying to win the race first place. Also racing games MUST include a chill mode outside campaign mode where people can just select any car, mod it, and drive around without police or other crap. They have to capitalize on why some people play these games in the first place.
In late 2020 I found an R33 GTS-T for sale in a scrapyard out in the countryside of Sweden. I bought it for a bargain since it needed some bodywork. I'm in love with the damn thing in a very similar way to how the people in this show loves their cars. Been working on the car for 4 years now and one day it will be an absolute beast. On the starter car thing, I recently downloaded Forza Motorsport 4 to play through again, and the game giving me a choice of s**tboxes, 80's 90's hot hatches, and sport compacts for starter cars and early rewards was refreshing. My favorite part about Forza was all the regular cars that were in the car list, B class and below racing is my absolute favorite part of the series, and you basically can't do that anymore the car list is so top heavy with race/hyper/super cars that the performance index is compressed as heck and they basically removed F class for all intents and purposes. They also start tossing not only the highest tier of cars at you right at the beginning of the game, but ludicrous amounts of money as well. Within days of starting Horizon 4 I had an entire fleet of super and hyper cars that took me months and years of playing Forza 4 to get. I came across the Zonda R in the car list of FM4 and a rush of nostalgia washed over me because I remember the week and a half I spent grinding the credits to get just that one specific car. I'm not even going to get into how much better FM4's car physics and driving model are than the entirety of the rest of the series.
1:05 I do want to say, there’s nothing wrong with a gaming company/group wanting to make money, so long as they have the mindset of EARNING that money and being honest. If you make a worthwhile product, indeed I think you deserve to eat. And even if your game isn’t a smash hit, if you provided enough content and work into the product, then sure that honors the agreement as well. The problem is when gaming corps try to use predatory pricing and microtransactions to get out as much money as possible from the user, while providing as little as possible, and that shits not cool. Now we have a big problem. When we exchange money for product, there’s the understanding that there’s an exchange that is understood to honor the agreement at hand. But when companies try to outright cheat gamers. Well… can’t say I get too mad when gamers resort to (cough) other ways of getting to the software…
I'm no where near the 'why' stage. As for what, I have a base Mini Cooper F56 hatch. 3 cyl, 130hp. It was what was available at the time and I needed a car. But since 2017 I fell in love with it. It isnt the most powerful car I ever drove- not even close. But its one of the most fun cars and I reaaaallly want to boost her up. Shes also a manual which makes her even more precious to me.
Dirst 5, Grid and Grid Legends are more currated and linearly progresing games than a Forza Horizon or a CVrew Motorfest. I just think, like many other genres, they don't really m,ake them like they used to but wait .... is there a place where ytou do have these kind of games? Yes, in the indie scene where titles like Horizon CHase, MotorTownor even Night Runners exist. I personally still have fun with montyhly freee content in Forza Horizon 5 tho.
I think Raven would've finished Van off, personally. At that point he only has him left to deal with, and he knows he's on a clock so he'd have stopped playing around.
The only issues that the unbound has is the Music kit, which is total vomit, as well as not so pretty and interesting map like they made in NFS PAYBACK, which was spectacular. The cops were pretty easy to get away from (maybe skill issue on your side) and has pretty enjoable multiplayer.
Hearing you complain about police in NFS “one of the most essential things in the franchise” is kinda annoying fr, go play Grand Turismo or Forza Motorsport.
I saw a trailer years ago for it, thought it looked cool but didn’t have Hulu. Forgot all about it and never saw it again until a seen a random clip recently. Looked it up and blew through the first season. Fckn awesome show.
Prequels are designed on the notion that you’re already familiar with the world and characters. So I don’t understand why people would recommend them first. Also The Origin is a flashback story that takes place much later in the manga after you’ve been introduced to everything.
You know, currently, the only way to officially follow the story in English is actually by playing the arcade games. It basically adapts the whole story from the original manga (with some alterations due to licensing), but from our (player) perspective instead, which I found unique, and covers up to the sequel as well, the C1 Runner.
It feels like there's no sense of speed in the modern racing games and i just keep going back to checking out the older ones recently. I so happened to fing out NFS Shift 2 Unleashed some what manage to outdo even the latest Forza Motorsports/Gran Turismo entry. I know there's a line between automobile sim and racing game if players want to be more specific, but i find that Shift 2 manages to strike a good balance between the two categories. I think its worth checking out and it may just be your next video topic.
As someone who think's there's a lot to like about ZZ, my big take is that it's the first entry to the franchise that's really only notable because it's part of Gundam. If the titular robot was "The Great Space Defender Bawoo" it's legacy would be that of a pretty average, but mostly forgotten footnote in the history of anime (with some pretty awesome 80's mecha designs). My recollection is that Zeta Gundam's success got ZZ greenlit somewhere around halfway through it's run, and it shows. It's pretty obvious that the production staff were working on a timeline of weeks, rather than Zeta Gundam's months/years. This is a shame since all of the issues the show has with tone, characterization, and the plot feeling directionless things that could of been fixed or turned into strengths if the show had more time in the planning stage.
I would say Quatro doesn’t become Char again after the speech as much as he tries to become Casval. He tries to bring his father’s ideals into reality humanely, which leads directly into his decision in CCA to return to the Zabi-Zeon persona of Char.
I feel you, I hate with all my heart the roulette princesa in Gran Turismo 7, almost all the time you get the worst price for hours of playing. And I love racing games my library in my Ps4 is full of racing games, I got GT7, GT Sport, Need For Speed, NfS Payback, NfS Heat, NfS Rivals, The Crew 2(I HATE IT that don't have pause, I you go to the bathroom and g2g so fast because in 30seg the kick you out to the start menu, I Hate it), Burnout Paradise, Grid Legends, Hot Wheels Unleashed, Lego 2K DRIVE, MotoGP 19, Ride 3, WRC 5, WRC 6, WRC 7, WRC 10, Dirt Rally 2.0, Sébastien Loeb Rally Evo. The Crew Demo, The Crew Motorfest Demo, and that's all I have and played, so i have a lot of background experience in a lot of types of racing games.
One racing game that in my mind is one of the best is; Project Cars 2, but it has one element that is both awesome and bad. It let you start where you want, there are no forced progressen, i did not think of that before, that is was someting that kind of makes a game. I could start in the LMP clss or in the middle if i want to, but i felt i was missing something. I have had some awesome races with the game, some 8 hours races, where the pitstop was the winning factor. But it is 10 years since i have play it last, the game is awesome, but it feels like there are something missing. It is kind of funny to nag about freedom in gaming when you have it, but at least in project cars 2 it was made good, so good that i hardly have played it as much as i wanted to. At the end of the day, it is up to me setup the rules :-D But modern gaming and racing games, they are missing more than the freedom.
For me the biggest problem with modern YGO is the negate problem. YGO have so many different types of interruption and interaction that plays into each other. Destroyed fire king summons another fire king, banished thunder dragon summons another thunder dragon, banish a card that can't be destroyed, non target a card that can't be targeted, flip face down cards, send to gy, take control of enemy's card, equip enemy's monster, send monster to backrow, return card back to the hand/deck, tribute a card that can't be effected by anything, suck a card into xyz material. There's a lot of fun ways of interaction in this card game but the best of them is to say "NO"??. So instead of playing this back and forth slugfest of a game of wit we gotta deal with: "ain't nobody play any card game today but me" negate board. Hand trap problem also originate from this. Like, the only competitively viable hand traps that doesn't negate is maxxx c, ghost ogre, and dogwood. Everything else? NEGATE ! or some other type of saying NO (shifter, droll). Maxxx C is its own set of problem, but Hand trap problem IS negate problem. You board might not have any negate, but if you have 4 card in hand that can negates, then its still a negate board.

I agree with the point about having zero attachment to your car and it's just a rotating door of which one is next. I think the problem is that so many racing games nowadays have cars differentiated at different levels. Unbound is the most egregious, why would I ever want to use a B tier car at the end of the game if it's capped as a certain power? At that point I've been playing with insanely fast hypercars, I don't want to go 125mph. Even games like GT7 suck with that in that it completely limits which cars you can use. You wanna do this grindy money earning race? Of which there are literally only 4 in the game? Oh you wanna use that cool 80s McLaren F1 car? Too bad you have to de-power it to 200hp to reach the 800PP level cap and then it'll be useless. But here go play the race with no PP limits that takes 25 minutes and you earn 60k 👍 It's so dumb. Games like Most Wanted perfected car progression. If you wanted, you could literally take the starter car, have access to all the upgrades that a car like the Ford GT would have at end game, and be just as fast. Not to mention saving up for cars in that game took forever, so you REALLY developed a relationship with the 3-4 cars you had. Maybe one car had heat level 5 so you used that for earning bounty. Maybe another was your main racing one. Maybe one had the highest top speed so you used it for speed traps. Now it's just use a car for 2 races and boom next one
The biggest complaint for me is the reward system. That dopamine reward when you work hard to achieve a goal. Feeling satisfied and having something to look back on. Now they literally just hand it to you. No surprises, no consequences, no challenge, nothing to be proud of your accomplishments. Its like being spoon fed.

Every year I’m giving it a chance, firing it up then i get frustrated that I can’t see shit and i delete it again. And don’t even start with the new ones. Just waste of time and money. I guess even if you let those devs (or more likely the companies) play Most Wanted and tell them, see now use this as template, they just pick the worst things and triple them 😂.
Why haven't we got a game set in the past? Licensing deals. Blame the car manufacturers for that one. If you want their classic cars, you gotta show off the brand new ones as some form of advertising for them. See both Forza and Gran Turismo nowadays. Why haven't we got a game set in the Wangan?
