That's what I thought as well, and since Missy was a 'reformed' character, why would she regenerate into an evil master anyway?

In the audio books by big finish it explains how missy regenerates in to the spy master, making the spy master the 4th regeneration of the new cycle given to the master when the timelords patched him up for the time war. The doctor by all accounts if they got another 12 cycles from the timelords through the crack after matt smith ran out of regenerations then the doctor is on his 4th body with Ncuti but Disney seem to be doing whatever they want and retconing 60 years of British screen writing so it's anyone's guess these days 🙃

Yes it would be nice to break tradition for once. The Tremus Master (Anthony Ainley) was paired against four of the classic doctors (Doctors 4-7). But I have a feeling it might be another recast because I imagine RTD would want to cast an actor close to Ncuti’s age to play the Master and Sacha is almost ten years older than Ncuti.

But that is not how regeneration works: every incarnation is a different person from the other, with only memories and (sometimes) their core attitude still there. Missy is not the Spy Master, just like every other incarnation is not the same individual.

True, but also factor in that the Saxon master "gave her the full blast" in that she didn't regenerate. All we see is her lying still with no evidence of regeneration or any deus ex machina to save her. To me personally, it feels as though this was the masters final incarnation and that is her canonical death

@@christopheryoung9857 I do not concur with that idea, even with the Doctor, because despite how many times they said so in the series (i.e. "same software, different hardware"), it is not at all what it's shown to happen in the episodes. I like to use the example of the Fourth Doctor and the Seventh Doctor because both of them experienced the same situation with the same enemy; so, it gives us a comparison field with (almost) equal variables. In _"Genesis of the Daleks"_ , the Fourth Doctor is in a particular space-time condition that should allow him to delete Daleks from existence by altering their birth moment; he is troubled, struggling with the idea of making the Daleks disappear, worried about the implications of the baby dictator conundrum. In the end, he decides to let it go because of his moral principles. Then, confront him with the Seventh Doctor in _"Remembrance of the Daleks"_ , where he decides to commit a genocide of Daleks tricking Davros into destroying Skaro and, after that, he pushes the last remaining Dalek on Earth to commit suicide with no remorse whatsoever. In 1963 no less, well conscious Daleks should technically being present in the future too; so with the clear intention of changing the past. The same moral values between the two..? I don't think so. The only two things the Doctor's incarnations share with each other are memories and the good Samaritan spirit; but a person is not just the mere sum of their memories. Each incarnation of the Doctor is not the same individual, as much as every incarnation of the other Time Lords are neither the same person.

The video said there is no canon but failed to mention the non TV media that adds extra masters and explains why he turns bad again after missy

The video says there is no non canon, but we have excluded expanded media for ease. It’s hard to make a video using only audio stories.

Big Finish confirmed she used a thing called an Elysian field to rebuild her body and kickstart a new regeneration cycle, Missy regenerates into The Lumiat who then regenerates into the Spy Master later if im not mistaken

This is what I like to think, but I’m going by what is shown and intended on screen

I’m pretty sure that’s what was intended by the writers, after he started to die in the power of the doctor, he begged for a game

Philip Segal says Tipple is a separate incarnation, but Destiny of the Doctors says Ainley is sent on trial. So the intention is definitely muddied.

In the video it explains how he is a possible incarnation of the master, because some expanded media stories have said that he is the master, whereas others have said that he isn’t.

The Doctor wouldn’t listen to him so he ended up trying to kill him so never got the chance to accept the offer.

The offer was made by President Borusa who ended up entombed with Rassilon, Chancellor Flavia who became acting president, and the Castellan who died to further Borusa scheme, in the days when stasers were actually fatal to Time Lords. Two members of the High Council were gone and the third was acting in the place of the Doctor, so it’s doubtful she’d honor a pledge to a villain made by another villain.

RTD retconned it so the drumming was there since he was a kid. I'm not a fan of the retcon either.

@@CultOfThirteen it was there since he was a kid, but only because the time lords changed the past. A "retcon" is when previous story/lore changes for out-of-universe reasons, not time travel

@@ab-mc2nq Except the Time Lords knew about the drumming before they sent it, making it a bootstrap paradox. So according to DW's time travel "rules" (more like guidelines) it was always there. Before then, in series 3, RTD was clearly implying that the drumming was why the Master went evil in the first place. But really, this is doctor who, and canon is what you want it to be. I rationalize it by assuming that the classic Master always had the drums, but he automatically tuned them out (like humans with our heartbeat). Then when he became Yana, he lost that tolerance, and kept hearing them

@@cement_eater dw's time travel system makes it quite clear that most time travel changes history rather than simply always being the case. Sometimes the effects of your personal future self changing history can ripple back down your timeline for a bit, making it seem like it was "always the case" but it wasn't always the case
