Sanemi is just doing his job. Of course he wants to kill Nezuko and test her, she’s the first of her kind and to him it’s the highest level of stupidity to let something that in the pillar’s eyes guaranteed to kill someone when they themselves were promised to protect the innocent. I’d be a little worried for the safety of those in this verse and the writing if he didn’t take his job this seriously and after his backstory.

of course the strongest most experienced demon slayers are going to hate demons that's without question and all them had worse or equally bad backstories than tanjiro not to mention nezuko is literally the first of her kind that they have witnessed so i get sanemi went a little too far but i don't understand why people are confused and mad as to why a demon slayer is trying to kill a demon lmao

The writing in this show is amazing, as even though we are attached to Nezuko, we can easily understand the angle of the Hashiras. Even if they have not been through as much suffering as Tanjiro, which is unlikely, Nezuko is the only demon they have seen act in this way. From what Giyu said in episode 1, we can tell plenty of other people have been in Tanjiro's position and gotten eaten.

But no one ALIVE has ever met Muzan and Tanjiro only knows cause of the scent. He had no idea who Muzan was before Tamayo told him.

Damn I think people , who hates Sanemi for stabbing Nezuko, are narrow-minded or immature . Come on , Hashira's have NEVER seen demons like Nezuko and of course they will not believe/trust them for the first time . "We hate him because he hurt our cute Nezuko"-stupid shit I've heard . And they are DEMON SLAYERS . That's their duty to kill all the demons , and after hearing about demon ,which will not eat human, Of course Sanemi wants to test her to know is that really true . Why he was stabbing her ? Because if demon got hurt , it will be really hungry for the blood . (But still in anime workers did it too much , while in manga he stabbed her once ) . And it's not Sanemi's fault to be so ridiculous , he had more tragic , sad past than Tanjiro and other Hashiras. And also my opinion:Nezuko is likely wouldn't have managed on her own , since she was hypnotized by Urokodaki. and so if not for hypnosis, then she wouldn't stand a chance . And why? because Sanemi has the rarest blood that even took the Upper Moon 1 .

I understand where Sanemi is coming from, but he looked and abounded like he enjoying watching both Tanjirou and Nezuko suffer. To me that was one childish and out of line. I was ok with him testing if Nezuko would bite him, but purposely stabbing her over and over again just to get a reaction out of Tanjirou was cruel as heck

If you like the animation style from this anime, you should give the Fate Stay/Night series a chance. Same studio, and the budget might even be slightly more for that. You would either start with Fate/Zero or Fate Stay/Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Many here are trying so hard to give gatepass to those Hashiras and saying that they do not deserve such dislike. First, please remind yourself that these reactors do not possess further information about those characters. And at that point, the Hashiras just got introduced to them, and they have zero idea of who they are, or their backstory is. And even if they knew or considered/assumed (of them having a sad backstory), I still firmly believe that _some_ of their actions here are improper and deserve some disagreement. 1. Giyu can, but why can’t they? Sure, Giyuu saw their story himself and has some certain interaction with Tanjiro before. But, we also witnessed in the first episode that he was also skeptical at first, but he did able to approach the situation objectively afterwards, which led to where we are now. That’s how it should be- impartial and logical. Giyu let Tanjiro *say* his side, and he didn’t try to kill him (only Nezuko, the demon). 2. Hashira-level position. Not every Hashira needs to be exactly the same like Giyuu or Shinobu. Variance in personality and character is essential. But, *attitude* of a character matters depending on their position. Take the way on how they welcomed the master- they have the ability to show restraint. If you are in a top, leader-like position like a Hashira, approaching things *properly, objectively, and logically* is must have. You shouldn’t let your personal loathe towards demon take over you just because you have a sad backstory about them. The job description of a ‘demon slayer’ you say? Sure, and I stand to testing Nezuko as a very valid thing to do. But to also kill Tanjiro? 3. Tanjiro is a human. Demon slayer slays demons to protect humanity. Tanjiro is a human who is part of the humanity. He is even the most at risk of getting eaten by Nezuko if ever, but they didn’t in the slightest took those facts and proceeded to just wanting to kill him too without considering or hearing his/their side at all (so tell me, are those an objective approach? A logical step?). That even shows that some of them are doing their ‘slayer job’ not just to protect the humans, but part of it because of the hatred that was form in relation to their personal sobby backstory. 4. All feelings are valid. If you think your love with others or Sanemi is valid because you _‘know’_ them/him, sure. But, these reactors hating towards these newly introduced characters to them are also valid. It is the goal of the *tone* of this episode, and with their current knowledge of the story at that point, those are all normal. You also need to perceive that the stabbing and unfairness (not wanting to listen to Tanjiro’s side and just killing him) is improper, illogical, and very subjective for a Hashira and it deserves to be disliked and disagreed on. A character is great if they are imperfect, that's one that gives flavor to stories after all. You can also feel all the sympathy to Sanemi or others as much as you want, but that doesn't, shouldn't, and wouldn't make those illogical and improper things they did as something right or acceptable. They have acceptable reactions (due to their own history), but not their actions.
