Or, by completing the square of a binomial to the first two terms, you get:X²+10x+21= X²+10x +25-25+21=(x+5)²-4= (x+5-2)(x+5+2)=(x+3)(x+7) x²+5x-36=x²+5x+25/4 -25/4- 36=(x+5/2) ²- 169/4=(x+5/2-13/2)(x+5/2+13/2)=(x-4)(x+9)
