If anyone is interested; the game play footage was captured via an emulator (I dont have any way of capturing composite, and the composite signal out of the Intellivision isn't that great anyway). This is the emulator I used: www.intellivision.us/intvgames/nostalgia/nostalgia.php

Got that system for xmas 1 year..brings back memories!!!...of the games you showed on camera..we had space battle and frogger...we also had B17 bomber "my favorite" witch made use of the voice module. With a father who was a geek and a programmer we had. all the toys he could afford. Still raising a family of 4 kids this was 1 of the coolest gifts we ever got.

Great video! You have some great add on's for your Intellivision that I have never seen before. I was an Atari 2600 kid, but always appreciated what the Intellivision could do. Thanks!

Mattel did actually sell (mail-order) and test-market around 4000 units of the original non-ECS keyboard unit like the one on the box with a built-in datasette. The problem was, they were trying to sell this expansion to an aging game system for $700-$800 when the C=64 was everywhere and sold for $200+ less. Not to mention the C=64 had 64K, and the Inty keyboard had only 18K and more limited graphics. None of the test retailers could sell the units they had - much less were they interested in ordering more. Also, they apparently had high rates of failure and people who mail-ordered them were eventually given the choice to either receive an ECS as a replacement or to sign a letter absolving Mattel of future faults and service support. I finally saw one first-hand myself, gathering dust in a Service Merchandise, years after the test-marketing (the store must not have known about Mattel's recall of the unsold units). By that time I had already moved on from playing Intellivision to my own C=64, but I sure wish I hadn't been a poor teenager and could have grabbed it just to collect. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)

Wow that's a serious investment of space and money with all those accessories! Great video.

Great video. Brings back memories of a wasted childhood playing Q-Bert, B-17 Bomber with the voice module and my absolute favourite, Burger Time. Thank you!

omg...q-bert did that one work with the voice module? I remember the arcade machine had a votrax chip and he'd say random stuff because the programmer couldn't get it to work so he fed random data into the chip hence the Q- Bert voice.

If I'm going to screw up and capture it on film, I may as well make the most of it :) Glad you enjoyed it.

I grew up with the Intellivision and its still a favorite system that I play today. I have been trying to get an emulator to work on my computer but keep running into problems.

I have an Intellivision 2 and I love it - and I sure wish I had a collection like that.

Cool video :) I love the Intellivision most of all because it looks so beautiful. I would love to have one next to an Atari 2600. It was also interesting to see all the things you have for it. Subbed.

In Scooby Doo’s Maze Chase, you can use the keyboard attachment to make your own level. Same in Mind Strike as well.

Is the Australian version of the Intellivision different? Because the US version you cannot use the ECS computer or the Atari 2600 system changer without quite a bit of modification. You could send your Intellivision in to be modified to utilize the ECS and changer, but for most the only option was the purchase of the Intellivision 2 (smaller white consoles). And all US ECS, System Changer and Keyboard are white. And the I2 (Intellivision 2) is not well regarded due to it's rather rushed development and it's quality suffered. But, the I2 had a sleek design, detachable keypads, and could use all Intellivision peripherals like the ECS/System Changed/Intellivoice. I have this model and all of the peripherals and I love it. I have an old Sears Catalog from 1983 that actually had the ECS "enhancer" (16k RAM, 2 cartridge ports, 2 additional joystick ports, printer port, and future drive port) if only they had released this instead of that weird Aquarius Computer.

I was waiting for the other end of the Intellivision to have a "We brake for Nobody" :)

I have the same devices but mine are gray, not brown. But I like the brown accessories much better because it matches the Intellivision 1 color. There's also another ECS game called World Series Major League Baseball and it also uses the Intellivoice module.

Neither did I until I had it in my hands. I find it interesting that the CP1610 and the 6502 can run together.

Just found the Sears Tele-Games version in a pile of random junk by a clothing donation bin, really hoping it'll work and it came with a bunch of games too! Currently cleaning cartridges as I watch this video.

IT WORKS! And really damned well too! Seriously only had to clean the cartridges and the connector in it and it works really nice, and the picture via RF is pretty good too!

Hi, I've just acquired the computer module but without a power supply. If you still have your unit, would you be able to please advise the output voltage? Thanks in advance. Regards, Bruce

Hey cool, I also have that same little Sony CRT. It's funny how the PacMan port is so much better than the Atari 2600 version.
@MrLurchsThings
@MrLurchsThings 5 лет назад
Yeah, absolutely. If I could have the Intellivision Pac-Man but an Atari Joystick or Gamepad - that'd be awesome.

Do you always need to press reset every time you turn the console on in order to actually use it? Was the Intellivision even released in Australia? I'm too young to remember it, I don't know how many people still used the Intellivision by 1984 when I was born.
@MrLurchsThings
@MrLurchsThings 4 года назад
On mine, it seems so. On others, no idea. And yeah, it certainly came to Australia.

Wouldn't it be exciting building your own basic computer with a Zilog Z80 or 6502 CPU ?

The name of the product and the result of the ideas of Mattel are in conflict with each-other. This is a toyish game console made out of the stupidest and cheapest plastics available at that time. There is nothing intelligent, nor in the production, nor in the minds of the buyers. Cheap imitation wood and games that are not competing with other games and consoles. Back in those day other companies made better equipment, Atari used real metal shields inside and even Commodore used metal casing (the cheap plastic and cardboard with tinfoil housing came later). Others made better computers with the same electronics as Mattel.
