So, to help you understand if you're confused: (Spoil free) World Items are pretty much the strongest class of items there could ever be. They range from a variety of things they do but are limited items in Yggdrasil. Probably about 200 of them exist and Ains Ooal Goal (The guild) once held 12 of them, and this number is now 11, it still does however make them count as the biggest World-item holding guild to ever exist as nobody possesses that many. World-Items are a top-priority in attack classes, which means if someone gets put under mind-control by one, there is litterally nothing you can do except maybe another World-Item that might cure every status-effect possible. Problem is, they do not possess the total 200 World-items that Yggdrasil had but only 11 of them. And a status-cure is not one of them. Hence why there is no real solution for Shalltear's Mind-control. Just wanna say, don't be afraid to pause when you have something to say though, especially since pretty much everything you're saying does make sense. You sure don't want to pause all the time, but I do feel like you pause at the right times. So keep up!

Overview of this episode + fun facts: -Basically, the group that Shalltear encountered last episode used a World Item to cast mind control, but Shalltear was able to kill two of them before it fully controlled her and any orders were given. The others retreated, and Shalltear is left in the forest alone, just standing there doing nothing since no orders were given. -When they were talking about Shalltear, Honyopenyoko was a name Ainz randomly came up with on the spot. -About the eighth-tier Sealing Crystal that Ainz showed: in the novel, the wizard appraises the crystal and finds out that the crystal indeed held eighth-tier magic and that Ainz was telling the truth. He is shocked at this fact and goes insane for a little while, fondling and licking the crystal and whatnot. This was not adapted in the anime however. -The item Shooting Star can be used to cast the super-tier spell Wish Upon a Star up to three times. Back in Yggrasil, this spell only granted a wish from a limited selection, but in the New World, it can grant any wish as long as that wish does not involve World Items. However, greater wishes cost more XP. -Ainz created Pandora's Actor, the Area Guardian of the Treasury and the financial manager of Nazarick. He designed Pandora's actor to be flamboyant and theatrical. He wears a uniform similar to a Nazi SS uniform. There does seem to be some regard for Nazi aesthetics in some anime. Remember Japan and Germany were allies in WW2, so they have a slightly different perspective. Ainz still thinks the uniform is cool, but is now embarrassed as fuck about how he acts. -Albedo is jealous that Pandora's creator is Ainz, the only Supreme Being who didn't leave Nazarick. -Pandora's Actor is a doppelganger that can shapeshift into a limited number of people. Right now, he can turn into any one of the 41 supreme beings and copy certain powers, but he's only about 80% as strong as the original. He could forget one of them to turn into another person, but that would pretty much be heresy. -Some people mistake Albedo as the strongest Floor Guardian or NPC in Nazarick. Albedo is the highest ranking under Ainz, but not the strongest. Shalltear is the strongest Floor Guardian. A lot of people think Ainz is stronger than her, him being the ruler and all. But that's not true, in terms of pure strength at least. Shalltear is basically a raid boss that requires multiple players to defeat, so Ainz going out to fight her solo seems ridiculous. And while Shalltear is the strongest Floor Guardian, this does not mean she is the strongest NPC in Nazarick. -And about Ainz planning on killing Shalltear: just wait.

2:16 - This is not a "game" at all. As an anime-only, just forget about Yggdrasil and don't bother yourself with it. 2:22 - Since Ainz is undead, his too strong emotions are suppressed. It has nothing to do with the past, with Yggdrasil. As for magic: the very concept of "Magic" in the Overlord universe is incredibly developed and worked out. I think this is one of several, or maybe even the only story with something like this. The number of spells, races and subraces, classes and subclasses, subspecies of magic, classes of weapons and equipment, skills, combat skills, potions and much, much more. To remember all this, even as a light novel reader (I highly recommend reading. From the first volume), you need to be a real nerd to remember everything and understand how everything works and how everything is connected. The popular opinion about the "kindness of Mare" is erroneous. ALL inhabitants of Nazarick are exclusively representatives of non-human races (there are quite serious reasons for this), mostly undead with its countless subspecies, for which people are lower life forms (which is true when it comes to comparison with representatives of Nazarick), which are suitable either as food or as toys/experimental subjects. And Ainz, as an undead, is no exception in regards to such views to human beings.

The only way to get rid of the effect on Shalltear is using one of the 20s, but as Ainz said they are 1 use only and he wants to be wary of other World items that's why he wants to kill Shalltear. Also, if you equip a World Item you are protected against other World Items, that's why Ainz gives them away to the NPC's.

Hi friend, nice to see you again. This chapter must have been the hardest to animate because it introduces a lot of LORE, but I think they did a decent job. But still I will try to explain some things without falling into the spoiler. When Nabe communicates with Ainz she is seen wearing rabbit ears, this is actually a spell that many mages can use to increase hearing. Nabe uses them because she doesn't have thief or assassin skills to detect hidden enemies, so that way she can make sure no one is hiding to hear her. In the novel, Ainz also uses the spell on occasion, albeit with some embarrassment. When Ainz, disguised as Momon, hears what the Adventurer's Guild report about Shalltear, he wanted to do his best to divert attention and was about to tell them that that vampire's name was actually Carmilia, but then he remembered that This name is widely used in games or Anime for female vampires and if a player from their world heard it, they could deduce that Shalltear is someone from Ygdrassil. So, flustered and hurried, Ainz made up Honyopenyoko's name without thinking of anything specific, except that it sounded completely different from Shalltear and Carmilia. Hence the name he invented is so silly. Adventurer Igvarge was a real piece of trash. He originally wanted to become a hero, but to do so he didn't mind resorting to dirty tricks like spreading false rumors about himself or using his companions as meat shields. For him all the others were but steps for him to reach the top. However, he was a hard worker and trained intensely, which caused him to intensely dislike Momon, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere and attained his mithril class in a single adventure. In the novel, Igvarge ran away alone when Albedo set out to kill all of his team members, but he unknowingly ended up trapped by one of Mare's spells. Mare then pinned him down and killed him by crushing his skull with her staff. The treasury door was designed by Tabula Smaragdina, the creator of Albedo, who as we know loved the Gap Moe very much. But he also had others passions and one of them was Alchemy, to the point where his player name meant "Emerald Tablet" which is a very famous Greek text on the subject and was believed to contain the secret to making the Philosopher's Stone. The password that Ainz pronounces is the translation of the line that is in Latin and that is a fragment of this Tablet. Even his three creations are also based on the Emerald Tablet. And since we talked about it, I should tell you that, although in the Anime they take too many time to mention it, Albedo has two sisters. The three were named and designed as an allegory to the three processes of Alchemy: Nigredo (putrefaction), Albedo (purification) and Rubedo (reconstitution). To this day we know almost nothing about Rubedo, except that she is very powerful and hides on the eighth floor. But we do know about Nigredo, who is an NPC specialist in magic detection and in the novel she is the one who locates Shalltaer. Nigredo is nothing like her sister Albedo, as she is based on Tabula Smaragdina's other passion, which was horror movies, although (following the Gap Moe logic) her personality is much kinder than one would think. An important detail that many do not notice is the ease with which Albedo orders "kill" Tabula Smaragdina when she recognizes that he is an impostor. Because even Yuri Alpha, the Battle Maiden, is a little hesitant to attack someone in the guise of a Supreme Being. Ainz attributes it to Albedo's great ability to make decisions, but it could also reflect that, as I already mentioned in chapter 5, she is not absolutely loyal to her creator like other NPCs, who always put first the orders of the person who designed them before those of other "Supreme Beings". Now let's talk about Pandora's Actor. He is a doppelganger that has the power to mimic the forms of the 41 members of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild with 90% effectiveness. When Ainz created it he really didn't have anything in mind and just combined a bunch of things that seemed cool to him, but once put together, he found the result a bit embarrassing. His uniform is inspired by that of the Nazis, but before anyone feels offended, let's not forget that Japan and Germany were Allies during the World War II, so his view of them is not as negative as the one we have in West. Furthermore, while after the war the Westerners had to suffer the consequences of the destruction and then the Cold War, the Japanese suffered the effects of the Atomic Bombs that the US dropped on them. In Japan they value strong countries a lot, that's why they are always imitating England (which almost colonized them), the USA that defeated them in 1945 and Germany, which from their point of view is a great country of warriors that dared to face the rest of the world practically alone, twice, and almost won. Of course that is a thing of the past and the modern Japanese are not thinking of killing anyone, waging war or taking revenge on the allies. As I have already told you, they actually admire the US for having defeated them, as they admire all the strong. I'm just telling you that their view of the events in the World War is naturally different from ours. Also, it's fair to say that the Nazi uniforms looked pretty good. For all these reasons there are many young Japanese who admire, not Nazism itself, but the military power of Germany in World War II. Pandora's Actor is an Area Guardian, which means he guards a sector of a floor and not its entirety. There are many of them and some are even more powerful than some Floor Guardians, like the case of Gurem, a Fire Slime that defends a sector of the floor from Demiurge and is more dangerous than the Demiurge himself. But the case of the Treasury is special, because it is separated in a different dimension and it is impossible to reach it by any direct route. The only way to get there is by wearing an Ainz Oown Gown Guild Ring. Pandora's Actor's name and theme is seemingly based off of the Greek Myth of Pandora's Box, where a single mortal woman named Pandora was gifted a box that contained all of the world's evils within by the Gods and was specifically told by them not to open it, but due to the Pandora's immense curiosity, she opened it and released all the contents into the world. This, in turn, is the basis to Pandora's Actor's role as the Area Guardian of Nazarick's Treasury, of which he is tasked with protecting the 11 World Items currently housed within that all possess the power to completely alter or possibly even destroy the world. The most significant sentence Pandora's Actor says to Ainz in the novel is: "Indubitably so, Ainz-sama! For as I was made by you, if you desire me to do battle with the other Supreme Beings, I shall charge into the fray without hesitation!" It is at this point that we confirm what I mentioned earlier: Normally NPCs will obey the orders of their creator even before those of other Supreme Beings. Now a new level of Ygdrasill's magic is revealed to us. For level 100 players the 10th tier of magic was the maximum and they had to use it carefully because it consumed a lot of MP and also some spells could consume Experience Points, which meant losing levels. This didn't matter much in the game because a player could recover Experience Points by killing monsters or doing quests, but in the New World it's not that easy. Ainz has many powers and powerful summons that he does not dare to use for fear of not being able to recover the Experience Points that they would cost. Also, there is a kind of eleventh tier of magic, which would be Super Tier Magic, however, its characteristics are different. First it doesn't consume MP, so it's more like a skill. Then there is the problem that they take a long time to cast and then any player of the party won't be able to use it again for a long time. And finally, that some of these magic consume Experience Points. In short, it would be the Special Move in a video game, that attack that takes a lot of health off the enemy if you manage to do it right, but can be easily interrupted. Wish Upon a Star is an eleventh tier magic that consumes Experience Points, but thanks to the Ring Ainz has he can use it about 3 times for free. In the game, he granted you some random wishes that many times could not be fulfilled and the administrator had to intervene. But in the New World there are almost no limits to what you can ask for. However, this time was unable to remove Shalltear's mind control because it was imposed by a World Class Item. World Class Items are the 200 rarest and most powerful items in the Ygdrassill game. Ainz Ooal Gown's guild has 11 in total and the next ranked guild only has 3. That gives you an idea of how rare it was to have just one of them. World Class Items were so powerful because they could alter even game mechanics and each one had different abilities. Now I can tell you that the World Class Item that controlled Shalltear was the dress of the old lady who was killed by the spear of light and it can basically mind control someone even if they have immunity. Among the 200 World Class Items there are 20 that are considered the most powerful, but disappear after being used once. In the novel, Ainz mentions that two of the 20 are stored in the treasury, and that one of them could remove Shalltear's brainwashing effect, but he hesitates to use it because it would lose right after. That's why they have to defeat her. The reason he went to the treasury is because the only way to be immune to the effects of a World Class Item is to hold one yourself. Ainz wants to give one to each Floor Guardian so that they are protected against them. Ainz in the game was only a little above average... his guild was strong, and many of the players in the guild were stronger than him... And Shalltear is optimized for 1v1 combat... Ainz's build is an undead summoner, so he's at another disadvantage against Shalltear's build for other reasons besides the ones they've explained already...

Some things to explain World item are a literal hacks provided by the game itself. The strongest out there even tho some of them aren't weapons fr Also Pandora's actor is a doppelganger that can copy appearance skills power and stats

The reason he has to kill her is because she's under the mind control of a world class item. World class items are supreme items that stand above all items and magic. The only thing that can resist a world class item is another world class item which is why Ainz is equipping the guardians with some of the 11 world class items Nazarick possesses. And the only thing that can break the effects of a world class item that are already placed is a world class item specifically for countering the effect. But that only goes for the first 180 world class items, the twenty are supreme even amongst the already supreme world class items and nothing can remove or undo their effects. The twenty are insanely broken it's theorized that the reason tier magic even works in the New World is thanks to one of the twenty. Nazarick currently possess 2 of the twenty one of which might break the mind control but it's not guaranteed so Ainz can't risk it. Once used any of the twenty are permanently gone so they will lose a trump card amongst trump cards and a massive source of protection. Every minute she's left alone and under the mind control is another minute that the people who used the item can give her orders to reveal her knowledge or become their weapon. So the only thing that can be done is kill Shalltear, they have no other way of breaking the mind control except for her death. Edit* And like some have said you should watch episode 12 and 13 back to back. They are best experienced back to back without waiting in between.

Shalltear is a Raid boss and she works well in group fights so it best to hit her hard with minimal units. the more there are the more likely she can use vampire traits to fight longer.

Fun fact: I don't remember if the anime mention it, but from the point of shaltear's betrayal, ainz stopped giving his subbordinates total freedom to roam the new world. The thing Ains values the most is all his subordinates, and the thought of any of them being killed or to lose them in any way is unthinkable. At first he orders them to go out and explore and reccon the citties and countries and so, but now that he knows there is a power that can overpower them, he restricts them to the proximity of nazarik unless he can personally supervise them at all times

PD: To answer your question: There is no way to break Shalltaer's mind control because the World Item is absolute. Also, at any time the one who controlled her could give her orders and then Shalltaer would reveal all the information she knows about Nazarick, she could kill the guardians or help to evade the defensive traps of the fortress. That's why you have to kill her and do it quickly. If Ainz tries to take her away, the controlled NPC will assume that he is being attacked and will violently resist. The only way to save Shalltear without killing her would be to use one of the 2 World Class Items that are the most powerful even among it class, but it will disappear right after, so Ainz doesn't want to use it. The shooting star was his most powerful way to remove the mind control. Having a world item on you allows you to avoid the effects of other world items, in a more defensive way, so won't work with Shaltear as she is already controlled. So Ains is giving all the other guardians world items to defend themselves. Also Shaltear being made by Paroroncino, a power gamer, is specialized for combat so is technically stronger than Ains

When you lode up the Finale Episode of this season I give you all parts from the first 3 Light Novells from overlord.because Not off all the Stuff is in the anime season

I found that overlord's magic system has similarities with D&D, and in D&D you are generally unable to use most/all teleportation magic unless the targets are willing. That is my best guess as to why he didn't try to teleport her with them. Also another possibility that will be brought up next episode.

Here's some fun facts that the anime never discusses but you actually see a lot of 2 specific world items. Their abilities are hinted at or unknown but the first one you see is the red orb inside of Ainz. Most will think it as part of the character but it's not. It's a world item which we have yet to see used and so it's full abilities are unknown. At least in terms of the light novel as the web novel gives hints to it's uses but he has yet to use it. The other one to take note of is the throne in the Nazarick throne room which is also a world item. It was a gift from the devs after him and his guild were able to conquer Nazarick on their first try. This world item has a few uses but it's main use is providing a buff which allows the user sitting on it to see the status of all allies.

But you really wouldn't catch it unless you knew what you were looking for. An excess of detail on this right here 22:30 Ainz was actually *not* that crazy in the game. He was max level, but his build and class were heavily developed around RP. He was just the most reliable and consistent member of the guild, thus was given leadership. In fact, Ainz *never* won a fight first time against another level 100 player, or very rarely. He would actually *intentionally* lose the first fight, holding back a lot of his strength. Then when he respawned he would challenge them again after reworking his build to counter them, completely dominating them. Very much the "undying overlord of death" RP.

Nothing else can override them, but if someone dies the effects will be removed. So Ainz's goal is to defeat her and revive her.

World items are the most powerful items. If you are carrying a world item with you, you can't be affected by other world items. So since Shalltear didn't have one with her, she got mind controlled by a world item. Now, Ainz doesn't wanna use world items since it's a one time use thing and it's gone, but also for the reason that it seems like there's someone in the world that clearly is super powerful (since they seem to have world items) and showing your hand would be bad, you don't wanna go all out straight away and later be left with nothing. So since Ainz is a really careful person and always tries to get the upper hand (in the Visual Novel, without spoiling anything, it's said that Ainz used to PvP (Player versus Player combat) and lose on purpose to gain intel and then he would PvP again and win) he doesn't want to show what he's got straight away but leave the world items as a last resort. If nothing else works, he'll use them for sure, since as you could see in this episode, he loves the guild he and his friends made and the NPC's within it.

One of the heartbreaking things about overlord is that from the perspective of the npcs their parents/creators just... left, abandoned them. and as much as im sure they want to know why, what was more important than them to their parents, ainz can't really tell them cause at the end of the day most of them were just bored, and you cant tell a kid their parents abandoned them cause they got bored of them

Shaltear is under the control of a World class item. Only way to break it that is available to him, is to kill her, otherwise her power could be used against them. But there is always an upside.

Coss world itemes where the strongest items in the game.from what I understand if you have one you kan use it ones and than it would disrepair out the players inventory and spawn somhere in the game and those world items basically where above the games restrictions so if the game code sais that’s not allowed than with a world item you could go above the game code for 1 use so unles ainz finds the world item that was used on shealtyre there is no breaking the mind controle.and coss its not a game anymore ainze doesent know if the world items vanish after use and if it vaniches its not garentied it will appear back somwere in the world it’s possible if ist gon it’s forever.and the world item that was used on shaltire was the dress the lady was whering

Magic in Yggdrasil worked like in D&D5 in a tier sistem,it is classified from 1 to 10 tier depending on how powerful it is, but usually balanced by daily uses, cooldown effects, mana spendage and weird class/race/events requirements to be obtained, it is common knowledge that a lvl 100 player has multiple tier 1 to tier 10 spells given that the max amount of spells that you can learn it was about 300 (700) for Ainz because of cash shop items, now in the game also exist super tier magic, that in a sense might be explained as tier 11, way more powerful than 1 to 10 but it even more restrictive than tier magic, big guilds usually hold them off for important battles as trump cards, a lvl 100 player might have just a couple of them, so they are powerful but they still are bounded by the rules of the game. Now, world items are an exception, they are completely broken to the point that they can mess with the game itself, like Game Master commands. restricted only by themselves and other WI. Naturally Ainz was scared because he knows how much of a game changer these can be, as a side note, from the 200 WI that where available, several of them where never discovered, and their effects can easily be stupid concepts like "destroy the targets guild base", for example but a little spoiler (this is never explained in the anime) tier magic itself was brought into the new world presumably with world items, also how all the races can speak freely with themselves it's suspected to be an after-effect from a world item used by players coming before Ainz hundreds of years ago.

You're forgetting something, Gaz. Ainz can resurrect people. This fight between Ainz and Shalltear is going to take 2 episodes so you should watch them both and do a double episode reaction.

OK some of the questions have actually already been answered already. The potion had nothing to do with Shalltears mind washing, they mentioned that the only thing that could do such a thing is a world item, not something Ainz would casually hand out to random NPCs. The most likely culprit behind the mind control, is the giant glowing dragon attack that the old lady hit Shalltear with, which also explains why noone are controlling Shalltear at the moment, as the old lady got a lance through her chest mid casting. In this very episode Ainz mentioned that the reason he wanted to kill Shalltear, is that the only other way to bring her back is to use one of the 20, which he really doesn't want to do, since they are so rare and powerful, so they should only be used as a very last resort.

You need to know how live and death works in high level characters on this world. This event will be huge to take it serious for season 2 and 4 events comprehension. GL HF!

The reason he has to do what he has to do is because as Ainz himself says "Shalltears mind control is absolute." Meaning there is only one way to end it, there are no items, powers, skills or abilities currently in his possession that can reverse it.

The reason to kill Shaltear is to taking control her back or taking back NPC that belongs to nazarik that has being stolen by others. when an NPC dead they can be revive and also that process can stop the mind control item effect on Shaltear.
