Do any of the other band members ever sing? I've seen a few Mavericks videos recently, and I see that some of the band members do have microphones in front of them, but I never see or hear them singing.
I've been a music fan all my life and only recently discovered The Mavericks! Amazing how a band this good could have slipped through the cracks of my Steely Dan/Donal Fagan obsession but they did it. Saw them in NOLA recently and they were really great. I can have the crapiest day ever. I put on The Mavericks and I feel good. You can't help tp fell happy when listening to them. The only thing better than cd is seeing them live.
Could to Honkey Tonk, Rockabilly, sweet soft songs. Loved them. 1st time I heard them was on radio coming home from a beach trip and I had to pull off the road to make sure I caught the DJ's credit as to who was singing!
Raul is the consummate professional. Despite his enormous talent, he's managed to keep the Mavericks going on and off over a 25 year span. And even when he has to look at the lyrics, you would think he's sung this song 1000 times. He always looks like he's having fun performing because he is. Saw them in Camden, NJ back in the 90s and they're just as exciting today - maybe even more so.

I love the song Dance the Night Away, written by Raul. The video for it is amazing, and it's on youtube, of course. the wiki article about the song even has a link to the youtube copy of the song. The video has so much amazing stuff going on in it.
Had to update, saw them again early 2022, WOW sounded like the CD bought in 2001 and many new songs of course… and yes I’m STILL HOOKED 🎊🎉 Every member and Raul, has earned my loyalty for over 25 years. Go see them if you can, you will not regret it folks ! They are simply that good !!!
