I have had this car for 6 months now. Single male, about 173cm. I drive around alone most of the time and the space is adequate. The size makes it easy to maneuver around town too. I have had a couple of long drives with 4 adults in the car, have had no complaints. I did test drove a corolla cross and HRV, the quality of materials used in Mazda is a league above. This isn't the car for families, for that, you have CX-5.
As I see it, the reason for the higher price is that this car is 2.0 liter and uses a DCT gear system. A 2.0 liter for a smaller body CX-30 is ample of power. The DCT gear system indirectly gives a manual driving option both via the gear lever and the pedal shifters. You have a better control in terms of power management accordingly. A sudden press on the accelerator gives an instant response compared to the CVT transmission where your RPM shoots up first before the pick up. DCTs are much more reliable compared to CVTs Other aspect is that when you drive a CX-30, you'll get a feeling of driving a continental car. It sits snugly on the road without much sway feeling. Honda HRV is 1.5 Liter and Toyota Cross is 1.8Liter both uses a CVT transmission. The rear sitting in a HRV is narrow too. Otherwise, CX-30 is reliable, fuel economic and a comfortable crossover to own.
If it was a small car that was fast and priced the same, we wouldn’t be complaining. But this is a small car that doesn’t get anywhere particularly quickly and is quite pricey. So what’s the problem with pointing out the obvious?
@@hwlam1979your logic sucks. How can you compare Mazda and Proton in terms of quality. It shows you don't know much about what defines quality. He was talking about the overall size of the car relevant to the price. I agree the price tag is high but that does not make the CX30 a bad car. He is saying for the price there are other options like CX5. He didn't mention Proton is better than Mazda

@PistonMalaysia I don't think you will get anything like that in that segment from any reliable car manufacturers. Maybe from Korean cars but they are not as reliable as Mazda. And interior is also a factor I consider when I buy a car. If you go to another Japanese cars in that segment they don't give you a interior as good as mazda. And most of them use CVT which mazda doesn't use.
Price different around RM13,000.00, after deduct RM4000 free service, price different around RM9000, and CX30 H+ got more accessories and more premium. I don't think it is ridiculously expensive. HRV win in Turbo engine (this one also more on personal preference) + back seat (more space but HRV center back seat too high) + Honda connect + LKAS (cx30 H+P only got CTS) only.
I love this car but it's small for my height, about 173cm. The main issue is when I get into the driver's seat side and I have to tilt my head lower to get into which is kinda annoying. I did lower the seat though; the worst part is that the space felt crammed. I tried the subaru XV GT and it has a good amount of space though. CX5 is ok for me as well but I dont like the shape. And you only get the 360 cam with high-plus premium model? The Subaru has all this at a lower price. Can someone advise me :) ?
@PistonMalaysia HRV fits perfectly though...just not interested in that. Thanks for the suggestion. Cx30 is still a great looking car. Subaru XV looks different though. Their 2025 model has big infotainment unit which looks like a spaceship touch screen.
