As much as Thor: The Dark World is terrible, I always argue that the scene with Loki hearing about Frigga’s death is cinematic gold.

The problem with using the Tomatometer is quite simple when you look at it. It's not a measure of the film's quality at all. Instead, it's how many critics hit the like button or the dislike button. Their reviews are going to be more nuanced. In some cases, I've seen a review that seems constructive - even positive - that then hit the 'Rotten' button because although they thought it was good on a technical level, they didn't like it. It's a real bad measure for judging a film.

This argument is fundamentally flawed, any movie with Paul Rudd (People's Sexiest Man, by the way) should be granted an automatic 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and Two Academy Awards 😀

One underrated aspect of Eternals is that it actually has a good poster for once.

Ant man and the wasp i can see why people liked and hated it but honestly the first movie to me was just a vibe 🤣

Marvel Fun Fact: During the early 90s, the King of Pop Michael Jackson attempted to buy Marvel Comics. The reason? He wanted to star as Spider-Man in his version of the movie. Stan Lee once commented in an interview that while he believed Jackson might have been a good actor for the role, Tobey Maguire was a better fit.

I prefer 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' over the first one, along with any superhero movie ever made. I do agree that it had a tad too much jokes, but no other of the movies in genre left me with the impression that it did overall. I love it. My favorite superhero movie ever.

I definitely agree with the majority of this list, the only one I guess I would change would be that far from home is a tomato to me, not great but definitely still enjoyable especially Mysterio’s character, and the fight scene between them with the crazy visuals is phenomenal

I largely agree with this list. I'm actually surprised that after Thor the Dark World, Ant-man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 2 and Avengers Age of Ultron that critics decided to crucify Eternals. I'm not saying Eternals is a masterpiece but its much better than the aforementioned films.

I'm one of those people who thinks the Incredible Hulk is underrated and I will gladly die on that hill if I have to. It isn't even just the action, there's a whole lot to that movie I love. Also, the fact that someone could rate Iron Man 2 higher than the Incredible Hulk is baffling to me. Iron Man 2 was suuuuch a bad movie and a step backwards compared to the first one. It's so hard for me to get through Iron Man 2.

I personally really like both Ant Man films. Yeah they aren’t ground breaking or the absolute best of the genre, but dammit they are fun and entertaining. And at the end of the day, that’s all you can really ask of a movie right?

What pissed me off about Thor: Ragnarok was that they took one of the best Hulk stories ever, Planet Hulk, and turned it into barley a subplot because the studio has no faith in The Hulk as a character. Endgame just skipped over his character development entirely, which also pissed me off.

I feel as if The Incredible Hulk could’ve been better if we focused more on hulk rather than the romance.

In regards to 'Eternals', the movie which inspired this video, I think it really came down with the expectation, given the talents behind it. Critics set it on a higher bar. 'Nomadland' was my favorite film of the year, so I can't say I'm not underwhelmed that it was more middling than anything stellar, but the MCU have reached worse. Were the critics too harsh on it? Maybe, maybe not. Were the critics too generous with the franchise at times? Definitely.

This is the definitive list, I agreed with literally everything except Far From Home (which I think is a Tomato)

I agree with everything in your list except for the fact that Incredible Hulk is rotten. Personally I think it's the second most comic-accurate Hulk we've gotten, especially with the design. It's not a masterpiece, but I wouldn't call it rotten. I prefer this Hulk over Ruffalo, and I want that version of Hulk in a World War Hulk movie adaptation because he seems more fitting

I think the thing that people miss about the RT scores is that they’re a measure of what % of people enjoyed the movie. Not how good the movie is per say. That’s why you often see Marvel movies get extremely high RT scores while still having pretty mid average scores. Most of the MCU films are made for mass appeal and don’t really challenge the genre all too much. Eternals had the first rotten score for a similar reason to a film like say Man of Steel. Not necessarily because it was bad, but because it was the first real divisive MCU film.

Thor is probably my 3rd favorite MCU film behind Avengers Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I don't know how to explain it, but it just has a very different feel for me, especially in the scenes in Asgard. Kenneth Branagh lent a theatrical feel to those portions that is sophisticated and subdued, but rife with depth. If that makes sense? The Earth stuff sometimes evokes that same feeling, but even when it doesn't I still love it. I just love the way Kenneth handled the film, and I think it was the first time a director was able to put their trademark feel onto an MCU movie, and we wouldn't get a moment like that again until Guardians of the Galaxy.

I’m Asian-American and Shang-chi came out on my birthday last year. I too, am biased. But thought it was a blast with some killer action.

I almost 100% agreed and then you put Endgame as Tomato - dawg this shit is so fucking fresh tier I'm upset. I love the drama and the way we get to see what The Avengers life is post-snap. Seeing the build up of what they need to achieve was awesome and the time travel aspect was so cool to me - I felt that movie being more of a dramatized comic book while it did not have the same adventure level as Infinity War - I think it nailed how my emotions were fluctuating! But tbh I think in watching Infinity War and Endgame back to back is honestly a better movie than each separately. It's a lot more cohesive and feels much more of an epic like the extended editions of LoTR.

I actually agree with the majority of this list. My only disagreements are Black Panther and Endgame (which I considered Fresh), Spiderman Far from Home (which I considered Tomato), and Black Widow (which I considered Rotten). The last two definitely surprised me the most at of all of these. I'm also really glad to hear you liked Eternals!

8:03 I never understood the complaint that Quicksilver shouldn't have been hit by bullets. The bullets weren't fired at HIM and he failed to dodge them. He ran TOWARD the bullets to save someone else. So he managed to push Hawkeye and girl out of the way just in time for them to be spared but instantly got hit himself. When you're saving other people sometimes there's just not enough time to also save yourself. That's what makes someone a hero.

I think Eternals is worse than Ant-Man and The Wasp and Far From Home is better than Eternals. I have my reasons, but it’s not because of having no action.

Is it weird that the only movie, the *only* film from the now massive MCU I disagree with you with is Ant Man and the Wasp? Like that’s hilarious to me that somehow I don’t think its worse enough to be its own category, but just regular worse! In reality I probably would just put it low tomato, you’re right on it not having anything to say though and that being a problem. It really is just a filler movie

Personally I don’t mind Ant-Man and the Wasp because it’s an okay enough film that’s a refreshingly small scale film from the constant large-scale MCU films that has such a large scale conflict issue it starts bleeding into Eternals in Phase 4. I at least put Captain Marvel as one of my few Rotten ones alongside Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Dark World because this first female MCU film exists when it’s the perfect time and place to have Black Widow and instead she gets brushed aside with a Phase 4 film that’s less impactful. Also the Ohio deleted scene ending should’ve been the proper tribute ending to the film, you could’ve just added it in its amazing!

Civil War - the airport fight is the most pointless and lowest stake fight in the MCU and that makes it boring as fuck. Only Black Panther vs anyone and Spider-man vs anyone makes it worth re-watching. Now the final fight that is fucking awesome.

Am I the only who was genuinely surprised by the fact that Elon was in Iron Man 2?! How did I not notice him after all these years?!?

Incredible Hulk does get credit for being really the only MCU movie where the military is shown in an unambiguously negative light imo.

I agreed with the large majority of your ratings expect for hulk. My nostalgia puts it at a solid tomato. Also shang chi for me is like either a low fresh or a really high tomato because they didn’t really do enough with the sister nor gave her closure from wenwu despite them clearly not having a good relationship to the point were he couldn’t stand looking at her because she reminded him to much of his wife. If it did more with her then the film could have been easily been like top 5 in the mcu. That’s just me though.

I do not understand the hype for Shang Chi. The last half of that film is an example of the worst bits of Marvel movies. It loses its stride and turns into a CGI-fest finale.

I don't agree on putting _Ant-Man and the Wasp_ in the Rotten Score rating considering I enjoyed this and Ant-Man far more than the first two Thor films, Incredible Hulk and especially Iron Man 2. In fact, I say those films (Captain Marvel, the first two Thor films, Incredible Hulk) should receive a Mixed/Rotten Score IMHO, especially Iron Man 2.

Marvel needs something to do about its color grading.

As much as I despise Peyton Reed's taste for mediocrity, I have to Cpt. Marvel below it. Because the latter wasn't just mediocre, it's pretty much anti-MCU. Pulling down the previous movies just to lift itself up. It sucks like a black hole.

You got me thinking. What if Marvel Studios called up Edgar Wright (sorry if misspelled) again and offered him to make an Antman movie the way he wants today with as much freedom as he desires. It can be it’s own separate universe apart from the main timeline.

Lol your Ant-Man takes are so based. Both movies are way better than you're giving it credit for. The story of Scott trying to be a better person for his daughter is awesome. Both movies had pretty good action and both attempted to be a little deeper than. Some of the other MCU movies. They failed but damn they tried. Lol not sure what you have against Payton Reed but he did a pretty good job. Also, GoG 2 was better overall but only because part 1 was so good as a reference point.

I LOVED Shang-Chi and I think it's great and 100% has the best fighting in the MCU but the third act with the dragon and the dweller in darkness makes it below Iron Man 1 for me personally. Still fresh ofc tho. (biased as i'm asian 2)

What you said about not expecting action rings true: when people tell me Jessica Jones is "boring" they are missing the whole point of the show (and not appreciating David Tenant enough). Hopefully some day they make a Howard the Duck movie and when they do, they don't shoehorn dumb action scenes into it, when that isn't Howard's style.

Oooooh, now, y'see. I'm a big Antman fan. It's probably my favourite because of how it talks about parenthood - and its the continuation of that theme that makes parts of Antman & The Wasp work for me too (not to the same degree.) Spiderman Far From Home is my least favourite for sure and my only other rotten rankings would be Age of Ultron and Incredible Hulk. This was a fun video. Hope you can continue this after the next "phase".

I personally put the first two thor films in rotten because I found both very boring with bad pacing and not a good story. I would put Ragnarok in fresh because of how much it expanded the universe with great characters and made hulk powerful. Endgame is fresh as well because it's a superhero movie that was build up all these years and it's character driven at times instead of plot driven. Shang chi is tomato because it falls apart in the third act. Eternals is rotten because boring, visually dim and de saturated, questionable character motivations. FFH is tomato because great acting from Gyllenhaal and holland. It dives deep into spider man struggles

I really really agree especially on Iron Man 3 part.

I'm still annoyed at how much of a bore Spider-Man: Far from Home was. It felt like a movie that had Spider-Man in it instead of it actually being a Spider-Man movie.

My only issue with Shang Chi is that it becomes two monsters fighting, but even that is symbolic and visually stunning. Cant complain really.

Guardians 1 < Guardians 2 I love both, but I love a more heart-felt story. You really get to delve into every characters emotions and flaws. Nebula and Gamora's rivalry, Drax's feelings of loss and how he hides it so well, Rocket's fear of being loved, Peter just wanting to have the father he never had, but realizing that blood doesn't matter when it comes to true family. It's the one MCU movie that actually made me cry when Yondu died. I STILL tear up a little every time i re-watch that scene. It's honestly one of my favorites next to Civil War and Infinity War.

Okay, I need to say this. I really think that Spider-Man Far from Home is actually really good. I completely understand the cons, and I understand that’s it’s not exactly what people want from a Spider-Man movie, but does it need to be? I think people misunderstand why there’s so much Iron Man in that movie. This is a Peter got snapped away and lost for 5 years, and when he returns he loses on of the only father figures he had (Tony). There’s a deep pressure on him to try to live up to Tony, but the movie is about him accepting that and becoming his own hero. To be honest, to me that’s such a good Spider-Man plot. Sure, it was done better in Homecoming, but I think it’s definitely more visually interesting in FFH. Also, the last fight scene is just peak, and Mysterio is one of the best villains in the MCU in my opinion. Sorry for writing a freaking essay, I just wanted to maybe shine a new light on this movie. If you still hate it, totally cool. I think it rocks tho
