Your voice, pace, content and cinematography are all excellent; better than many professional productions I've seen! Also glad to see we share a high level of admiration for Michelangelo and I hope you keep making documentaries :)

You are correct. Michelangelo is the greatest artist working with stone and marble that ever lived.

I find the muscles he sculpted in the bodies fascinating. How they suggest the ligaments ad bones beneath is a mind boggling achievement. He had so many talents to share with the world. I MARVEL AT HIS GIFT

Good presentation. When you visit you realise that this where architecture and sculpture merge, as you are standing inside the work. The individual pieces have not been placed randomly, they interact. They have sight lines - they look at each other. This is real 3D.

What an interesting video! I especially love the way these sculptures aren't quite anatomically correct in order to seem even more divine. Just look at Giuliano de Medici's neck, or Day's massive shoulders or Night's mishapen breasts. Fascinating!

Michelangelo lived in a de Medici palace while he studied and practiced his art.

All the old sculptural masters used wax models, taken from casts of their subjects bodies, the models then used as a template to guide mechanical drills, making the marble copy. All classical portrait art was painted from light box camera projection.

Bernini surpasses Michaelangelo. And please remember that all of these sculptures are machine drilled marble from and arm bouncing off a wax model, allowing the sculptor to up the scale of the finished product, but repositioning the fulcrum of the mechanical arm holding the drill.

I've always wondered about this type of sarcophagus tomb, is the corpse literally contained in the actual sarcophagus, or is the sarcophagus only an above-ground dummy decoration?
