Maaannn c'mon on through y'all. I miss that traditional sound of the piano. Nothing wrong with keyboards but I still like that good ole upright piano sound.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I was just watching this for the umpteenth time, and thinking how long ago this was. I keep coming back to this video: Verline's talent shines here. May she rest in peace.
[1] The Meditation Singers: [From Left to Right in the video]: (a) 1st lead singer ERNESTINE RUNDLESS [founder]; (b) 2nd lead singer with tambourine LAURA LEE RUNDLESS-NEWTON [Ernestine's daughter]; (c) soprano VERLENE ROGERS; (d) tenor DONNA HAMMONDS; and (e) alto MARIE WATER [people often think that Marie was Della Reese, but Marie Water was Della Reese's sister. Della Reese had already left the group by this point; and Ernestine added Laura Lee to the group in her place] Peace and love...
Remember hearing this on the wooden radio on Sunday morning while Sunday dinner was being finished and getting ready for Sunday school. Those memories never fade.
I have to listen to this daily. They remind me of how my grandmothers and aunts looked back in the day. They sang beautifully and dressed like these ladies.
It's so amazing! These wonderful women with these wonderful voices, resounding with glory to the Lord our God. The song is wonderful. Although I was not born when they sang this song, I feel no difference from those God loving people that were present there, listening to them. I wish I was there to clap! But I think I can still participate: ooo Jesus, be fence all around me... Thank God. I would like to know you guys in heaven.
Love this! Every song has a soul and this right here is burning within. These women are not only singing in the Spirit, they are beaming with the light of God, graciously dressed and ministering in song!!!!!
PRAISE🖤GOD...EVERYDAY his protection is needed as we come and go Thank you Jesus.. Goodmorning and enjoy everything in this day🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️ *That Midnight Hour* 🦉No wonder you're so Blessed I LOVE YOU💕
Jesus Please be a "Fence all around me everyday" Thank u Lord. I saw these sisters singing Live at a program when I was a kid. It is so amazing to see them all these years later singing to God s Glory "Technology is something!
I am very grateful that I stumbled upon this version! I was looking for a different gospel song, and I found this!! I also love Fred Hammond's version of this song as well. 💛
@Marcel West THANK YOU for sharing this magnificent clip. I just shared it with a lady I know who’s traveling hundreds of miles tomorrow (Election Day) in a car with a Biden-Harris sticker on it. After what happened in Texas the other day, she’s more than a little nervous.
Now this is HARMONY and joyous singing. I agree with @TheHasanGreen, this is the best version, even though I love the version by Fred Hammond and Radical for Christ. Those high notes and inflections. If you don’t dig this version, check your pulse because you just might be dead. 🤣
