Fun fact: the dog name Pippet is an Easter egg to Jaws. That was the dog’s name in that movie but he didn’t survive.

This is one of the best monster B-movies in recent times. Meg 2 wasn't that bad either.

2 more excellent shark movies are *Deep Blue Sea* and *The Shallows.* Deadpool's wife is great in it.

Fish can live in those depths because they have no air pockets to collapse in their bodies.

The timing of this movie was really interesting, particularly with that last scene. I remember the Aquaman movie poster had come out recently enough to still be on people’s minds, then this movie pulled what it does at the end with Jason Stratham and the sharks. I know it (probably) wasn’t intentional on the film’s part, but at that point comparison memes were inevitable.

Amazing fun, love the banter and discussion as you watched. I thought this was a very fun creature feature

Based on a series of books I knew of prior to it's film adaptation. Jason Statham's highest grossing film as an leading man at the time. Saw it in IMAX and loved every minute of it. Theatrically, JAWS & Deep Blue Sea were the cream of the crop. But MEG is those films on a serious re-up of steroids. The supporting cast, special effects and set pieces are pretty good. Scenes of characters trying to get away from or fight this monster is either thrilling or hilarious. Just a really expensive B-movie. For the hundreds of shark-related movies that got made and released, it gets no bigger than this (literally, figuratively). Part 2 aka The Trench. Some of the same, still entertaining and has a longer running time than the first.

Jonas was much better in the book. And the way he killed the shark at the end. He piloted the submersible into her mouth, got out cut his way out of her stomach and to her heart, then ripped the heart out with a knife and his bare hands.

It's cool that you notice the actor from Heroes that played Hiro. He was one of my favorite characters from the show. I avoided watching this movie for so long because I have a fear of creatures like a Megalodon shark in the ocean and seas that are so big that you can't even get away from them before they eat you alive. I had a dream along time ago about being underwater deep down where it's hard to see and a pair of eye came out of the darkness. Then the next thing I saw was an open mouth that was mile wide and teeth knowing that there was no way I was getting out of the way in time. At the last moment when it mouth was about to engulf me I woke up scared as f*ck. I finally decided to just watch this movie after The Meg 2 came out so I could check it out. Glad I did cause this movie was so much fun to watch and I also had fun watching The Meg 2 as well. I still have the fear of creatures like that, but I'm not going to let it stop me from watching movies about them anymore. Can't wait to see your reaction to that movie also. Also the beautiful Asian actress she definitely is a very fine lady and the girl that plays her daughter is so hilarious. The dog Pippin had me cracking up when it turn around in the water after seeing the Meg. Pippin was like "What the hell is that? Aw hell to the naw! F*ck this sh*t I'm out." 🤣 If Joe actually hasn't seen The Abyss I'd love to see you two do a reaction to it as well as any other underwater based movies. I think y'all will have some nice reactions to them. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.

Honestly, I think see it now or in the last few months woulda been a lot better then seeing a couple years ago Imo . Mainly cause we’re dealing with the deep ocean (which in general is scary asf ) and just what happened recently irl with the titanic sub . It’ll make some scenes where their in the deep part of the ocean a bit more tense cause of it
