NGL I relate to this song a lot too. I went through some childhood abuse, and I was forced to just hold in my anger from the abuse at home and the bullying I also received in middle school, being the kid everyone avoided and picked on. That kind of anger just builds and builds until it eventually explodes in rage. This can be really felt from 2:45 until the end of the song, where the instruments are lower as Airman talks about the rejection he's suffered from society, the music swelling as his anger builds and builds until he explodes in rage, screaming at the world. (but I always found it interesting how awkwardly the last few notes of the song are, like it supposed to imply that anger like that doesn't lead into a satisfying resolution) Is this song a bit too edgy/emo? pretty much yeah. I certainty do not want the world destroyed just cuz I was abused and bullied A LOT as a kid/teenager. But when people are angry, we tend to say things we don't really mean. But this song (along with "I Refuse To Believe" by The Megas, and just the entirety of The Protomen's first album) really helped me personally really release the anger issues that I had in my late teens to mid-20's in a healthy way by just listening and singing along to this song.

I don't know if this was the intention but I love how it retroactively raises the stakes of Airman's level - if you fail he's going to destroy everything regardless of if that's what Dr Wily wants.

@@ivorymask2599 I'm writting a d&d campaing about a golemancer who creates golems for the sake of humanity, but and old friend of him, a sorceress named "Milly" uses the golems to cause havoc. I don't know where the inspiration has come from! I'm using The Megas songs to profile all the golems. My favourites so far are Airman, Flashman and Quickman..

Absolutely. On my old sandisc mp3 player it had the ability to create a loop within a song that you were listening to. I played this monologue on loop for hours.

I think that's a sign... the sr-71 is still seen as a marvel, a beast among aircraft, but the kamikaze plane? Showing great strength, but in his own rage, destined for self-destruction...

@@SizeableTroutGameing He's referencing kamikaze planes that were used in WWII. For example, Japanese fighters often kamikaze-d due to their code of "death before dishonor." But the thing is, when the song says "planes that crashed in WWII" I don't think it specifically means by kamikaze. It could also be planes that were shot down. I'm not sure, though.

Y'all have no idea where I was at in life when I discovered your music. Almost 10 years ago. Thank you for that. It saved my life. No exaggeration. The night I had planned to do it, y'all popped up in the suggestions here on RU-vid. I listened to a few of your songs when I was trying to get up the nerve to do it. I don't know somehow this one got to me. It stayed my hand, and now getting close to a decade later... I'm doing better than I ever did before in life. I'm actually happy. Anyway, thank you.
