Couple people here suggesting that this is Doc Robot's song. A nice idea, considering Doc otherwise has no references to its existence in the albums.

The main reason why I think this is Gamma singing is because of the line "How can there be peace, while two sides stand?", AKA the Mega/Proto conflict hinders his purpose: World Peace by Annihilation

"You've been here before, you know what's in store" This quote and the distorted voices you hear throughout the song, along with the shutdown sound at the end, make me think it's actually Doc Robot singing this, and the "Two prodigal sons in the eye of the storm" could be referring to how Wily's made Doc Robot able to copy the abilities of the second game's Robot Masters in reference to Mega Man's Variable Weapons System
@seemo5789
@seemo5789 3 года назад
The idea of Doc Robot being the one singing this makes a fair amount of sense. It's easy to see this as just an argument between Mega Man and Proto Man, but whenever there's more than one character featured in a song, it always comes with each character having a distinct voice. Gamma Unchained and GeminEye are the best examples of this. It would also clear up some of the more unusual lines that don't sound like they would come from Mega Man or Proto Man. The start of the song, "So we finally meet," is Doc Robot addressing the "two prodigal sons in the eye of the storm," before turning to question Mega Man first. "I'm unlike the others you've seen, I'm free from the failings of humanity. I've seen the end, and you are the key, my friend." Having the IC chips from the previous eight Robot Masters would mean that Doc Robot quite literally has seen how this type of war has played out in the past. After the chorus, where he again addresses both Mega Man and Proto Man, he now turns to question Proto Man. "And what of you? The shadows can't hide the rage in your steel. You say you don't care at all, but if he died, tell me, would you feel?" I assume he's referring to Dr. Light in this case, as it's... kinda what Proto Man's whole arc is centered around. "You wait for a choice to be made. You're afraid your purpose has been taken away. If you side with me, I will show you the way." Again referring to Proto Man feeling replaced by Mega Man, along with an interesting touch of Flash Man's desire to bring Mega Man to his side (see: Blue Like You.) Doc Robot addresses Mega Man again, saying that he's "been here before" and "knows what's in store," that "history will repeat," and that "this could be the last time, one last time." Mega Man has already fought two identical wars, and is in the midst of a third. Doc Robot presents the idea that something has to change in order to stop this from happening again. Again, the "I've seen the end, and you are the key, my friend" line comes to mind, in that Mega Man is the key to not only ending the war, but preventing history from repeating. Basically this song's meta as hell and having it come from Doc Robot, an amalgamation of the previous eight robot masters, makes it even more meta. Which in the end, just makes it awesome.
@MechaKnuckles
@MechaKnuckles 3 года назад
@@seemo5789 Wow, that's some great thinking there. I give much more credence to that idea after reading what you wrote. Along with the lack of distinct voices, consider how The Megas made songs for every major robot... Except for the Doc Robots. Wouldn't it be odd to *not* have a song for them in the album?
@MechaKnuckles
@MechaKnuckles 3 года назад
@@seemo5789 If Rock and Blues were singing this, then how would we explain 2:37? Both voices seem to have similar feelings. Right side: *You've been here before. You know what's in store. Mankind is obsolete.* This could be Proto Man, but it can't be Mega Man because Mega loves humanity. Left side: *How can there be peace? You're just a machine! You're dreaming history will repeat!* This side also can't be Mega Man, because Mega is shown to feel like he's more than "Just Another Machine." (Except for when he's feeling really depressed.) The only possible explanation for this being Rock is for it to be his dark side/insecurities talking to himself, but I'm doubtful of that. Because of how much both sides align, and because we know Doc Robot has duplicates of himself, Doc Robot makes the most sense. To explain the verse stereo, he's turning between Rock and Blues. "We finally meet" makes no sense between Blues and Rock because Blues has been harrying Rock throughout the whole game.
@seemo5789
@seemo5789 3 года назад
@@MechaKnuckles (apologies for the delay, kinda forgot about this-) I don't think this is particular instance is supposed to involve Rock at all, actually. I see this as both Blues and Doc Robot speaking to Rock at the same time, literally trying to talk over each other. Doc Robot is saying "You've been here before, you know what's in store. Mankind is obsolete." Blues is saying "How can there be peace? You're just a machine. You're dreaming." They both converge with "History will repeat. This could be the last time, one last time." Or maybe it's supposed to be more metaphorical than that, with Rock being torn between the arguments of both his estranged brother and the reanimated Frankenstein's Monster his fallen enemies from an unjust conflict.

As someone who noticed there was exactly one song and one character missing from the lineup of both albums, I wrote lyrics for a remix of MM3's main boss theme (which makes sense, since it plays when you fight Doc Robot after all). The fact that someone you fight 8 times doesn't have his own song with lyrics is one hell of a missed opportunity, so I attempted to fix that when writing my own lyrics! Sadly I lacked the confidence and skill with music programs at the time of writing those lyrics....even now I need to learn more about music programs before even attempting to create the song itself I still remember the lyrics though, and the name I gave the theoretical song is "Scapegoat".

Unpopular opinion (possibly because it's an original idea) Doc Man is singing this song. It's clearly addressed to Mega Man and Proto Man, and the shutting down sounds aren't Gamma, because Gamma blows up at the end of I Refuse to Believe, and it sounds like a robot master dying. The cacophonic echo at the end of each line in the verse and two people singing the second chorus onward could be the multiple IC chips inside Doc Man's body. It's just a theory.

I figured that Gamma is the voice in this song, and the glitching at the end is Wily’s device being attached, which is where the next part of the battle happens in I Refuse to Believe, and ends with Wily bringing down his fortress on himself.

I disagree if you listen to the verses 1,3, and 5 are protoman trying to hammer his point home, whereas verses 2,4, and 6 are mega man repeating what protoman said earlier in the song only to reject it by telling him he's dreaming. then after the chorus they both tell each other that their dreams are impossible.
