The absolute HYPE of Hare Hare Yukai is a high that will never again be achieved. My first con I went to, I was dressed as Roxas and a Yuki and Mikuru cosplayer asked if I could be their 3rd, and the video is still floating in the youtube void. I wasn't even dressed as a character from the show. You could just ASSUME someone at a con in 2007 would know it, and you'd likely be correct.

My first con was in 09 and it was the same then, still remember the glomp circles lol. But yea anime was so much more narrowly focused then. Nowadays there’s just so much anime it’s hard to get that kind of reaction. Though I guess all culture is kind of like that now, people aren’t all talking about the same thing like on the 90s how people where obsessed with Friends. It really is interesting to think about how quickly that’s all changed.

So lucky! I dressed as Mikuru at an Anime Con and no one recognized me… :/ There we’re no Haruhis or Yukis around either…

I only came across this series because the Figma line started with Haruhi's figures, which goes to show how massive the series was.

The first time I watched the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, it didn't really do anything for me. I thought it felt messy and unresolved. But then I watched it again a couple of years later and dang... I don't know what I was smoking the first time. It was fantastic. You're absolutely correct about it being worth the Endless Eight. Something clicked for me in the middle of the film when it asked the Hard Questions about feeling conflicted with getting something you want, but not making the decision to get it yourself. I eat that kind of garbage up, and the movie had a lot of really great moments like that. I know you said you didn't have much to say about the Nagato spin off, but did you at least like it? Part of me feels like I may have enjoyed it more than the regular series haha. Great video, btw!

Thank you I'm really glad you liked the video! Also Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiyais so good. As for Nagato I liked seeing the characters reinterpreted in a different way and in a different setting. It's an interesting concept. In practice though my final takeaway was that it felt like a pretty standard rom com anime with a Haruhi coat of paint. Not bad by any means but not something I feel strongly about, I enjoyed it while watching but feel no pull to watch it again if that makes sense.

@@ColdComplaints Yeah, i getcha. And I think you're pretty much right. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say standard or run of the mill, but it certainly didn't bring a ton to the table that we haven't seen in other shows, so I agree in that sense. Thanks for answering my question!

As a light novel reader- there is MORE than enough light novel material for at least another season and another movie. If not a little more than that. The novels are incredible and I'd highly recommend them- and while you can't really beat the disappearance film in my eyes, there are things later in the novel that I think I enjoyed more than the disappearance arc. Which is really saying something!

Is it worth it to go back and read what you already watched like Melecholy, boredom, sigh, and disappearance is there any extra stuff the anime missed I know when I read Konosuba things were a little different in the book

@@bassblowbackrecords8932 Yeah there's a bunch of stuff cut out of the anime!

I did not get into The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya until I was like in college around 2013-2014. I remember seeing a youtube video thumbnail back around 2007-ish, maybe, with the Anime's title, but never clicked it. Though, the title stayed in my mind since. I didn't have a legitimate way to watch it, so, internet, but I think it was in the broadcast order, which didn't bother me. I just thought it was weird. It was the first anime I can recall that I found on my own, like, no one reccomended it or referenced it, so that feels sorta special to me, and it quickly became my favorite anime. I also watch all of Endless Eight each time I watch it because I'm insane. '3' This comment is too long, but, I love it, so yeah. ^-^,

The dedication to watch each and every one of the endless eight each time is either admirable or proof that you’ve gone MAD. Haven’t decided which yet lol. But similar feeling I also of course felt this anime was a true turning point in my fandom for the genre. I hope I did it justice here! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@ColdComplaints For sure, I enjoyed the summary of the series and characters. It was like a walk down memory lane... Of like last year when I re-watched the series. '3' I've been meaning to watch The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, though, my love for the mostly silent Yuki keeps me from it. Yuki's my favorite character of the series. =ω=,

Yeaaaa I mean it's not bad, interesting look at the characters in a new light. But I dunno if it didn't have characters I already knew in it it would just be another rom com anime

I saw it chronologically I couldn’t imagine watching love live as the last episode of season 1 rather than the second to last episode in season 2

It’s a trippy experience to be sure, supposed to keep you confused and guessing which is very appropriate for a show like Haruhi lol

It's been three years since you uploaded your video so I hope you don't mind a late addition to the comment section. With regard to the 'Live Alive' school festival episode, if you've seen Nobuhiro Yamashita's 2005 film 'Linda, Linda, Linda' then you'll notice that it's heavily referenced in 'Live Alive.' It's a nice touch by KyoAni and stylishly understated. The clues are there in plain sight.

I don't like this anime because Haruhi is a gender swapped character. She doesn't act girly or womanly. She acts like an under socialized boy but she is able to get away with bad behavior because she is a girl.
