Hi Aaron, thanks for doing the tag, and for the kind words about my channel 😊. Great answers, well done sir! In case you''re reading Rilke in translation, I'd be curious which one it is. All the best for the baby, - this is definitely a big change in one's life, - a demanding but also very rewarding one. Best regards from Germany, - David 🤗

Thank you, David! It's a great tag, and I really enjoyed thinking through the questions. I'm currently reading Christiane Marks' translation of Sonnets to Orpheus - it looks like it's a fairly recent one. It's been okay so far, although I think I prefer Edward Snow's translations of Rilke on the whole. Unfortunately, I can't read Rilke in the original, but maybe one of these days I will!

Morbid streak ice cream!!! 😂😂😂 That made me laugh out loud and got me wondering what flavor the "streak" part would be... licorice maybe? Also, congratulations on the coming new arrival to your family! How exciting!

It was great to hear your answers to these. I also find the discussion of death in literature fascinating and seeing how different writers write about it. I'm reading Cancer Ward by Solzhenitsyn in March and the back of it mentions Magic Mountain, so after we talked about that recently I kind of want to pick it up soon.

Thank you, Courtney! That's cool. I haven't read any Solzhenitsyn yet, so I might give that a go!

“Morbid streak” ice cream flavor 😂☠️🖤I had a tshirt that said “I’m a cute little ray of pitch black!” Awww! Congratulations on the new little one coming. Yes, I try not to be “precious” about my books either, even now. There’s a few I don’t let my kids kick around 😂, but for the most part, they have free access to all our books. Emily Bronte writes beautiful death-themed 😅poetry! Psalms and other poetry are comforting. This was interesting.

Thank you, Amy! I really love Emily Brontë's poetry too, although I need to read more than the slim selection I have at the moment.

Julian Barnes has written two books about death which I really like. Levels of Life and Nothing to Be Frightened Of. Over the years I've read a lot of books about death. It's a topic I also have been always interested in. I would definitely buy an ice cream called "Morbid Streak". 😂

Ah, I'll have to keep an eye out for those Julian Barnes books. It would be great to dive a little deeper into the subject!

I’d forgotten that quip by Vespasian - I don’t remember if he was supposed to have meant it as such. Last words or last recorded words are an interesting subject in themselves. Congrats too on the babe: My mother groand My father wept… 🎉

Thank you, David! Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm misinterpreting Vespasian there, but it still makes me giggle when I think about it. I also like Oscar Wilde's supposed last words about the wallpaper in his hotel room, but I couldn't quite remember them when I was filming.
