I've been trying to release something every few days for a while and most of what your saying here rings true. I often will calculate how many 4 bar phrases I need to fill out a 3-5 min song, how much intro, verse, breakdown, chorus...I want and work from there. At this point my goal is just to fill out as much as possible. Its kind of like blocking out shapes in a painting. I find that having something written and asking myself if I can make it better is way more productive than staring at blank space. Also listening to the same short loops over and over again has weird paralyzing effect on the brain. The long the area your working on is the less this happen.
